  1. thank you for realizing that and i agree our post play could be better but also Halls didn't exactly pounce on the Rebels. It took a horribly played fourth quarter, ( where the Rebels gave up the fifteen points that Halls spotted them) and a last second shot by the Tigers to win. So i hardly would call it being pounced on.
  2. I think thats what happend bigster becuase i know what this team is capable of when they bring their best effort as in the Munford game. They just need to figure out how to bring 100% every night. It just seems like their mentally beaten down already. That's not a good sign. Hopefully its gonna change.
  3. wow, if I was a Gleason fan I would take offense to that... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  4. Well, seeing as how I don't suit up for the Rebels like you obviously think I do and how you obviously play for Camden let me say this. I was in no way trying to start anything negative about your team nor was I trying to pick a fight with a high schooler. But since you take the court for Camden and how I keep a close eye on the Central program, please tell me the outcome of the game between the two teams over the offseason. And if you would take the time to read the entire board you would see you were merely an example for another member trying to run OC down. I didn't say you guys were awful or horrible or any of that. Get your facts straight please. And before this spirals out of control lets try and keep emotions out of it and simply see CoachT as what it is, an OPINION-based board!
  5. not really near the top with all the other players mentioned but deserves to have his name out there...Justin Harrell. heck of a career at Westview and UT. Such a gamer he actually played his senior year game against Florida with a torn biceps. not to mention the fifteenth overall pick by the Packers this past draft.
  6. Ok, to address your comments first "mrbigster"...i was in no way putting down Halls because i think they have good quickness and talent but you saw them play Camden?? Honestly how good is Camden? My point exactly. Secondly i think the 8 out of 10 comment about them beating Central is totally off. I know i can tend to be somewhat of a homer but this team just isn't hitting anything right now. Like purple said, this team is a much better shooting team than thirty points. Yea Gilliam is off bad right now, but so is the rest of the team. And yea they don't have a superstar past Gilliam, but i think they have gamechangers. Smith can be past and at the hoop in a heartbeat, Boucher can pull any rebound and block any shot when he wants to, Gibson and Lee can provide you with the intensity and heart to turn a game around and occasionally get hot on their own. Yes, they would benefit from a deeper more quality rotation, but the comment of them having nothing but roleplayers is wrong in my opinion. I am sticking to my comment on another board about this team being one of the deepest waulity shooting teams in the area. Their just off right now. I can see their defense has improved and their rebounding is coming along. They just need to get their shooting up, their fouling down, and their smarts up I think. It just seems like some the team doesn't know what's going on and it throws the team into a rut because of it. They just have to realize that their only five games into a brand new season, don't hang your heads yet Rebels just keep working and it's gonna turn around.
  7. i'm not but honestly i don't think halls could consistently beat OC. if the Rebs could of hit anything at all last night they woulda blown out the Tigers by thirty.
  8. from the sounds of it they shoulda won this one big. just didn't make the plays they needed to at the times when it mattered. also seemed like they were ICE cold which is unlike the rebels from behind the arc. OC's had oppurtunities to win all four this season by twenty or more just can't put teams away it seems. but let's remeber its early in the season and while its never good to drop games to inferior teams its better to take your lumps in November than February.
  9. i agree but whether 1A or 3A, a win's a win when it comes to confidence. And lets all face it, that's what this team has lacked in taking that next step the last few years.
  10. Lake Co. probably will end up needing to pull the reins a lil bit against gleason. the falcons are just too athletic.
  11. they need to figure out how to play four quarters. they come out almost every third quarter flat and let teams either get back in it or stretch it out. once they start putting entire games together and figure out how to not go 4 minutes without scoring their gonna be TOUGH.
  12. his first name escapes me at the moment but its something like Brent or Blake or something like that. But didn't he play at Obion a couple years ago and from what i heard he was with South Fulton before coming to Dyersburg. Just seems to me like he can't find a stable place to play. I don't know who that would fall on, him, coaching, what. But he is an outstanding player at times so only time will tell i suppose. And the comment i made about Gibson County, I realize they have shooters besides Hudson, but to me it appears he's the most consistent. I wasn't knocking them at all. But their inside game is suspect to me. I just don't think Ellis is dominant enough to open up the outside time and time again for the shooters.
  13. here it is, stone cold lead pipe locks for 13-AA: (1) Dyer County - not as much of a lock as many think (2) Westview - not the deepest, just gritty i guess (3) Obion Central - gonna play harder this year, most teams didn't see it all from them last year (4) Gibson County- good shooter in Hudson back, to me thats it offensively (5) Dyersburg - just not as much there as people think, this Davis kid as seemed to be at many other schools, kinda makes me think he'll end up at another one soon. (6) Milan- rebuilding time (7) Crockett - hard to recover from losing your top SIX
  14. i dont believe DC will run the table in the district. everyone sees them running away with this, i disaree. i think having seen their pressure and gameplan a full season every other team will plan around it and give them a tougher road than they might think. Don't sleep on this district fellas,1-5 could go any way in 13-AA honestly. An your right redbirdfan, Obion Co. did give Dc a scare last year, in all honestly should have beat them, just couldn't come up with the clutch plays late it seemed to be. Honestly, it should be very competitive.
  15. From what i've seen so far this year this group of Rebels could be the one that finally turns it in the other direction. They just look like they have more heart and desire than any team in the past few years at OC. Sure, they don't rebound well ALL the time, but they had the same problem last year. The difference is i think they have the heart to go get it and want it more this year than last. and just an fyi, in my opinion, and i know its early in the season, this team, depth wise, shoots the ball better than any team in the district. yes even DC. i think that alone can help carry them through situations where there lack of size or speed will creep up on them. And the rebounding thing WILL come around i can gurantee it. and i'd have to disagree with the district predictions for this team. Most everyone has them no higher thant fourth. I honestly think that if they bring their effort and style of play to every game that they can finish second in this district. GC isn't as good as people give them credit just becuase they lost so much to graduation. Westview will be decent, but if Easely ain't on, ain't nobody on for them. D-burg with Mclin and Davis could be legit, but i just don't think they have that "it" to go with their talent. So i'm gonna go out here and say if OC plays with the intensity they played with Friday night, they'll snag either the second or third seed in 13-AA and make the rest of the district not want to come to Troy like the old days!!! Go REBELS!!!!
  16. If Obion can play Union City to 5, then i know for a fact Dyer could put it too Union City, they look like they play a bit faster than the Tornadoes in my opinion anyways.
  17. wow...that's all i can say about the UC-OC game tonight!!! I never could have seen the Rebels having a chance at the end like they did. For them to only lose to a team the caliber of Union City was very impressive. It was a great game from the tip, I really thought that these Rebels were gonna pull off that first win over UC in a while, but it wasn't to be. But honestly, who saw the game they saw coming?? I know I didn't. I had it pegged for a sure 30 point blowout. With that effort, only losing by 7 or so to one of the best teams in A across the state along with the buzzer beater by Gibson to give them the win Friday night, I really can see something different goin on on the court for the Rebels. Let's just hope they're actually peaking and this weekend hasn't been a fluke.
  18. one of the best games I've seen in a long time, quality wise. You couldn't have asked for a better ending than that shot.
  19. I agree I don't think that every player wants to put in the time that it takes for them to be as good as they say they want to be. I do see individual players hustling the entire time they're out there, but either they see their teammates hanging their heads or dragging butt and slack off. But none of them are in top shape that's for sure. Not something you could say about this team last year. You could come closer to saying they were over-conditioned than not enough.
  20. backintha...i really think its the difference in conditioning, this time last year i don't think they were a better team talent wise or a better shooting team or any of that, but i do think onlytherealest hit it on the head, they tire too quickly.from the offseason work they did last year you can't do much more than that, maybe we put too many chips on the table when we saw this teams wear opponents down at the end of games last year. I'm not saying Coach Kail isn't working them because like you i"m not at the practices, but i just think that last year we hung our hat on hustle and conditioning and that isn't there this year, but you must remember these boys didn't havea coach for the second spring in a row last year, and that plays into it. I just hope, even though its along ways away, that through this next offseason we'll be able to see at least half of the Messenger's report on the Rebels and not 1/4 with the rest dominated by the powerhouse girls. And that's one more thing. With the girls' success, do u think it's hurting or motivating the boy's psyche?
  21. I think that i speak for more than jsut myself when i say that i really thought that this team would've made alot more noise than they have this year. Let's face it, it's looking like a lost year that's only getting worse with the recent losses. With the talent they started the year off with they had an honest shot at upseting a bunch of folks. the effort was there the first half but just like every game I've seen them play, they've folded the second half. I don't know if it's a character issue or what, but with what they started the year off with and what they will have retuning for next year, these Rebels, in my opinion, should have been lightyears better than what they're playing. I really hope this junior class that was so highly touted coming into their freshman year (granted hardly any of that class is left) can help right the ship for the end of this season, the 07-08 one, and seasones to come. It's hard to watch a school with this much talent suffer through what they've been through the past few years and my heart goes out to the players.
  22. kind of funny thinking back on everyone's preseason rankings of this district now isn't it? most everybody said crockett more than likely wouldn't be touched and westview and gibson would be fighting it out at the bottom. My how crazy things can be.....
  23. I think they probably heard the Rebel Train comin!!
  24. what are the standings after tonight?
