  1. Redbird fan thanks for a great post especially the part about kids reading these post. It seems that just about everyone on here was rooting against Central and really gave the Lady Rebels no respect. I understand if u think Larue threw the game but thats just peoples opinion and everyone has one but for some people to say that Central got what they deserved or that was karma is taking away from everything the girls has worked hard for all year long. I feel if you dont have anything nice to say especially when it comes to kids and if they are hurt or not or if they cussed the coach or not when you dont know for sure you just should say nothing. These ladies worked as hard as the other teams and had a great season when nothing to be ashamed of. To go into a gym and play as hard as they did against a great Westview team in gym that everyone was rooting against you except your home team and to keep their composure not only says alot for them but their coach. It had to be hard for them to see adults rush the court like it was a state championship game when they just lost a nail biter so as Reble fan I am very proud of our girls and the coaching staff for all they have done this year. I wish continued success to the seniors in the future cause these girls are not only great athletes but also good kids off the floor and in the classroom. Good Luck to the Lady Pioneers and Lady Chargers they both are outstanding ball clubs that I am sure will represent our district well in the next couple of games and I am pretty sure in the State tourney! Again I am proud of the Lady Rebels and proud to be a Lady Rebel and Rebel fan!
  2. ReitzFan I was at the consilation game that Obion played in and you are wrong on Fussell not having her boot on she had it on the whole game and had worn it for most of the year when not playing cause of the ankle sprain. Like I said before her ankle was swollen badly and she could of played the Haywood game but if she did and hurt her ankle worse than it was then she would have been lost for the regional game. You stated she was able to play in the game which was prolly true but not at 100% plus to my understanding from the paper it was her doctor who told her to sit not LaRue. At the regional game she did come out of the game once maybe twice and you are right did "flop" as you stated but she was fouled on that play and I assure is not the only player in ball that has tried to "hollywood" it up now and again. I hope that LaRue didnt throw the game and based on his track record I dont think he did, we can give our opinion but when it comes down to it we really dont know so no sense beating a dead horse. On the Pate issue her punishment was she had to sit out the whole district tournament to my knowledge the incident took place on a Tuesday 2days bfore the girls played their 1st game but I could be wrong on that. Her punishment was always sit the districts out and if they made it to the regions she could play then. Pate is a good kid whos a great student and never been in any trouble before and thats why I think she wasnt kicked off the team. Is it wrong what she said yes. Do I personally know exactly what was said and the circumstances revolving around it NO so its between her the coaches and her parents which I am sure they have handled it and moved on and so should we. Like Purple said shes a kid who made a mistake and said something in the heat of the momment which I am sure we all have so as long as her and the coaches have moved on that should be enough for us.
  3. I am not sure of the cussing of the coach I know that player that had to sit the districts was because of what was said to the assistant coach during a practice. Was it right what she said no but she was punished for it so no use dwelling on it. As for the Fussell injury her foot was swollen as big as a softball and tonights game still had swelling had she played the Haywood game there would have been no way she could of played tonight so the decision to sit her was a good one for her and the team. I am with the next person I dont agree with a coach throwing the game but no one knows for sure if he did and Coach LaRue is a great coach with a great track record and I dont believe he would put his team in that situation. Those girls are competitors who have fought hard all yr long just as all the other teams have so I have a hard time believing that but what do i know I am just a fan. From what I have read on here the last couple of nights I dont know why everyone is spending so much time worrying about what may or may not have been a thrown game or whether Fussell was really injured, because it seems no one thinks Central is capable of beating Westview or Gibson.
  4. man i couldn't imagine...i know this post is about Greer but wow! the woulda coulda shouldas of Obion Central. If this team was actually that they woulda been something to contend with. You add the King kid who quit and WOW! I think they would have pushed for state easy. Just proves that OC still has talent, thing is they don't always play there /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  5. Yes Greer's father Mike, who is now the coach at West Carrol replaced the famed Jimmy Whitby at Obion Central in the early part of the decade. He coached three or four years before non-performance pushed him out. Thomas actually is a product of the Obion County system. He played junior high ball at Hillcrest with soon-to-be Senior OC standout Nick Gilliam. Could you imagine Thomas still being in the county at Central playing alongside Gilliam. Those two would be unstoppable!
  6. I agree that the slam dunk contest might not be all its cracked up to be because none of these kids are able to be the flashy type dunkers or the 6'7 power-jam type you expect in a contest of this nature. It should be interesting nonetheless however. The three-point contest should be more interesting with kids that can flat light it up from behind the arc. There should be plenty of participants in that contest if certain players make the team. I struggle to make a team out from this list of players simply because I'm confused on if all Jackson teams are on the South team or just certain ones below the I-40 line. Also, it depends on whether or not the coaches want to equally represent thier regions and limit the number of players from one team or go with their gut. And for clarification, the teams won't be announced for a couple weeks? Because when the coaches were first announced here on CoachT I thought that that meant this week, my apologies for misinterpreting the matter.
  7. yankee, any luck on your roster inquiries for this game?
  8. yankee, was it you that said you would have the goods on the rosters? I cant exactly remember but I would love to know them if you do know.
  9. well i would love to know so i can start making plans to go and watch these kids come together one last time. the girls and boys games should both be extremely exciting, as well as the dunk and 3 contest. just wish we could get a roster or two to see just how much excitement we can expect.
  10. to get this back to the post it was orginally set up to be...aren't they announcing these teams today?
  11. again? this kid has quit the program twice if I'm not mistaken, if I was a member of that team I wouldn't have it, 6'6 or not.
  12. you would tend to believe that your almighty Dyer County logic would tell you that condicending, sarcastic remarks like this are what keep people riled up about your fanbase. When in reality, its not the fanbase, its simply fans like you and your arrogance that bring bad reputations onto other people. But far be it from me to pass any sort of judgment upon you because we all know just how holy-er (not clue on the spelling) than thou you are. Please, your worse than my pre-teen daughter!
  13. Hopefully your not implying that it was racist one, because I saw nothing of the sort in that comment.
  14. I got to see the kid from Rutherford play against a few of the county junior highs. He's talented but didn't really take over any of the games I watched, but that doesn't mean he won't. But you seriously need to bring over to Obion County whatever it is you people are feeding your kids to be so tall so quick /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . We have NONE of that.
  15. See, this is how CoachT is supposed to go, everyone in agreement and not bickering like in other threads. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Does anyone know how many roster spots there will be for each team? I can start to widdle down the tweeners if I knew.
  16. First of all GC, your right, the situation was exactly the same as the GC/DC game and was it was VERY unsportsmanlike to leave your starters in to only try to reach the 100 point mark because like it or not, that's what happened. IF he wasn't trying to then why would he and his bench go bananas when they hit a three to put themselves over the mark? That is my gripe with DC fans and personnel. I tried to stay out of the equation but I completely agree with the statements made by GC and completely disagree with those of adsmom. You say your a fan of any athlete competing from any school, but I disagree. You can try to defend your statements but what you don't understand is that what your Coach would try to do to less talented teams was just plain wrong and unsportsmanlike. He didn't need to have CJ in the game at that point being up by so much. And if the same thing had happened the game before against Dyersburg, wouldn't that tell Coach McCord that maybe he shouldn't have his top players out their still. You can play the victims in all these situations like you all continue to do or you can face the facts and think... "Hey! We seem to be the common denominator in all these situations, maybe they SHOULDN'T BE OUT THERE!" Purple brought up a good point about Sisco taking out his starters at half even when scouts were there for MJ Brown. THAT'S sportsmanship and not running up the score on less talented teams that, admittingly couldn't stop your offensive attack and had shown that throughout the game. As to the Coach Suiter situation. Here's my somewhat biased view coming out but I'm going to try and be as fence-riding as I can. He did nothing different than MOST any other coach would have done. You know, take up for his player when a wrong had been done to them. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> The first technical was justified I agree he went bazerk over a blown call, not one that was actually called. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> They second one was called by an official from ACROSS the floor that wasn't even arguing with Coach Suiter. The cop coming out on the floor was uncalled for IMO, he was leaving in a decent amount of time and not impeding the gameplay any more than any other coach would /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> The cop really had no need to help remove him but I digress. You know, I went into this to try and shed light on an outsiders' opinion that, in all honesty, didn't really have one of DC fans, negative or positive. But this situation really proved to me all these assumptions that people like ready4boro makes, GC makes, etc. Sure, this thread being started was completely stupid and uncalled for. I think I proved that with being the first to reply to this thread with what I said, just go back and look at it. But GC makes a good point, after a few years when you all are back at the level you were at Crittendon's freshman year and Coach McCord started his free agency market /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />, hopefully you won't be on here saying the same things you have all season. Like I said I had tried to stay out of this whole mess the entire year, but all this has been nonsense.
  17. Being an Obion County alum, history would tell you I am NOT a Dyer County fan /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> , I can see where both sides are coming from. Dyer County aren't unlike any other fans in the area, they bleed orange like I bleed blue and red, but they also usually only show this when the teams are winning, just like most fans in the region. This isn't a knock on DC fans, but most fans in general. I have never liked people that stop supporting their teams simply because they aren't performing to the levels of the past. Trust me I have been through a few rough years in the past with my Rebels, as have the Choctaws before the 06-07 season, but I stuck with those boys because I knew they were trying. Maybe this is some peoples' reasoning for disliking DC fans IDK? In response to the "whiny coach" accusation of Coach McCord. I can't say I personally know the man, but from watching many a high school and college games in person, I can say that he does seem to come off as arrogant and bragadocious. For instance, the game between DC and Central in Troy, near the end of the game, DC was up a sizeable amount and still pressing, which I disagree with the starters still being in and the press still being on completely but that's a different story, Cory Gibson pivoted and caught CJ Crittendon with an elbow to the jaw. Maybe he came around a little tougher than necessary, but I saw nothing dirty about the play at all and would think most fans for both sides would agree. Anyways, Coach McCord storms all the way across the court to confront the officials instead of checking on his player, whereas in any other situation with any other coach I feel like he would have been tossed. I understand this wasn't under his control, but it just rubbed me a wrong way from a fan's POV. He seemed to flaunt the fact that he could do this, and the fact that he left his starters in in other instances when up a decent amount just didn't send a good signal my way. Now I am NOT trying to get any DC fans or anyone else riled up, I only thought I would shead an outside light on the circumstances being discussed.
  18. the other kid is the PG Brandon Smith. quick as lighting and can make moves with the ball at full speed most kids can't make at half. He's also a streaky shooter. Boucher can leap out of the gym, but from what I watched this past season, he seemed to take plays off. Can't let that happen. And the Pioneers won't be shabby. Masagna really impressed me and if this Hudson the second can play like you claim, they shouldn't be too bad. I think they'll finish near the top. But I also thought that this year so you never know.
  19. I could see Central taking it GC, but they have to find some depth. I don't even know who would fill out the starting lineup next year. They top three will be very talented, but past that I have no idea who's going to step in and contribute. If they find this, it could be a different story.
  20. From what I understand on another post, the West Tennessee All-Star game will be played in June and the rosters should be out sometime next month. SHould be exciting to see those kids go out there in the prep uni's one last time. Even if your a top notch kid going to play college ball, you'll still remember that last high school experience.
  21. I plan on it, because you basically just spoke blasphemy. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  22. I think they will be competitive but they won't have the depth and realiability needed to be seriously competitive. They lose either three or four bodies that won't be easily filled with what is coming up through the ranks from what I have seen so far. I haven't heard of more than one quality sophomore, and when your soon to be juniors only have one of themselves contributing, the load having to be carried by the seniors could get too heavy. I was able to see the freshmen play in a few JV games and there were three maybe four that I think could contribute to some extent next year. Don't get me wrong, the game of one Mr. Nick Gilliam can make up for alot, I mean the kid has practically carried the offensive load the past three years, but IMO he had a down year for his standards last year. He passed on alot of shots and tended to wilt at the ends of games in favor of a Rebel teammate. I couldn't tell you if it was strategy or not, but he has to take more shots and be more aggressive next year. The Troy Boys go as Gilliam goes. He has a top notch pure point guard in Smith and pure rebounder in Boucher ( at times ), but his other scoring options Owens, Gibson, and Lee have left and this next year we should all get to see just how great this kid can be. I personally can't wait. But to answer your question after being extremely long winded, yes they can, but only if Gilliam steps up and averages 20+ pts. a game.
  23. Quality and competiveness game in and game out being my keys for thinking, the district should be up next year. However, I don't think that 13AA will be of any competitive value past this level.
