  1. wow, lets just stop this rumor mill before it gets to something like the past. this is the thing either Rebels teams need right now....
  2. i'm sure quite a while, but i like victor mclin or nick gilliam of central.
  3. I've never had a thread go this long, but I'm glad I thought to post on this team a few weeks in advance now
  4. well, whoever you cheer for, if the Rebels show up with the intensity they did against a very talented Graves County team then it should be a very entertaining and interesting game. One worth watching. If Central can pull off a win over South Fulton and Dyersburg on back-to-back nights, then it should really give a boost of confidence to the team and fans about these kids.
  5. Some games like the Union City game it looks like those kids would die to pull it out and win, and other games like the Milan game they look they wouldn't care either way. I just don't know about this group's heads. And with what Coach Jones had done to help the rebuilding process it wasn't supposed to be this bad, more like a 15 win season.
  6. i thought before what ended up bringing an end to his coaching OC , that with the extremely hard work he put his players through and what he pulled out of the less talented Rebels of that team was amazing. He would definately be a great choice for anyone looking for a coach. But the extra baggage that will come along might be too much for a school to take on. I understood that he was a great educator as well.
  7. agreed but its quickly slipping away and as upside down as this district is right now they need to get it figured out quick
  8. i believe westview beat crockett recently as well. they were picked lower than what that win would show. and i agree obion is not very good at all right now. i know they have more talent and ability than what they're showing. i can't figure it out. i really was looking at this year at being the best in a while at central.
  9. no that comment earlier was about OC puttin GC out of the district tourney last year by a rather sizzeable advantage and beating them in ot at gibson county on the first game after your announcer's death. And i also have to disagree. On every team's beat night i believe that Gibson and OC are better than both Westview and Milan. I think that OC has the potential to be the top out of these four teams but thats just potential. I would also lump Dyersburg i nthere becuase i just don't see them being that good after graduated as much as they did this past year. And also with some crazy losses by CC to Southside and Dyer County to TCA that any team on any given night can take out the other in this district. But c'mon, this is Crockett's district to lose. And if Dyer County plays like they can they might challenge. But crazier things have happened....
  10. i highly disagree and i'm not bein a homer but Obion is much better on their best nights then milan and slightly better than westview.. There early scheduling of tough extremly quick and athletic teams will slow down the games against these teams that don't have every bit of what they've seen against the Union City's Lake County's and Fulton County's of the world. I don't think Obion will challenge by any means but with these crazy losses by Crockett to Southside and Dyer to TCA that you never know what will happen. I also don't think that Dyersburg is THAT good, while they are talented I can't believe after what all graduated that they still can stack up against a couple of these teams. All in all, its a tough call on #2 to the bottom in this district.
  11. i don't know if a 30 or 40 point win or how much ever it was is an upset, after all Central did beat you once at home.
  12. I don't seem to remember much else on that Chester County girls' sqaud except Thomas. The year before they were loaded when they won state but this past year not so much in my mind.
  13. um...train....Central beat SF haha....so get the facts straight there buddy. And they played very flat i thought, nothing like they've shown to be capable of. And Central beat Trenton in the summer a couple times big and SF as well, like i said they just didn't play great saturday night. And everybody's all over GC's shooters, the Rebels have plenty of kids capable of pouring it in on any given night as well.
  14. what happens if the student section outgrows the designated area during a big game? will they have to move back to the balcony?
  15. I guess we'll all find out soon enough how this district will fold out with district games kicking off soon. #2 and down are up in the air still in this district. Still don't know any of these teams true identity yet besides CC.
  16. Boucher hasn't been a go to player at all. Every one of his points almost are off put backs because of his leaping ablilities, allbeit alot of them. Parker has kind of a few down games by his standards lately but playing well. Gilliam has really been there true go-to if they've had one because the scoring has been spread out pretty evenly. This team shares the ball very well I think. I think Kail looked and is probably still looking for Lee to be more of an offensive force for the Rebels. Should be interesting Friday night.
  17. ...wow....thats all i can say... Dyer County must have had a real bad game because I've seen TCA play and didn't impress me at all... DC has so much more talent then TCA and i'm knockin them but I would have equated this team on the same lines as a Milan or a less athletic and talented team, big upset in my minds unless TCA has done something since the last time i saw them play.
  18. i agree with those who think the student section is and SHOULD be where it is now. I know i watched both games this weekend, and personaly i felt the students were much louder and more of an effect on the game when they were on the lower section instead of stuck up behind the thing that holds the backboard up. They don't serve a good use up there because they're not visible. If they're down low there extremly visible and able to be heard because they're right on top of the court and especially the bench. When a big time rival comes in like UC or Dyer or Gibson and the students really come out and support that it will almost be like a Cameron Crazies situation where that whole side on the bottom will be nothing but the Rebel Train. I'm pumped just thinking about that. If the administration wants to send a positive message to their students and players and prove that they're behind them and not give off one like they did with the incident at UC with the student section, then they will step up to the plate and back their kids here.
  19. backin....i kind of agree with you about the confidence thing but it can also go far enough to make the team cocky and play a little relaxed against stiffer competition. And my apololgies on the team mix-up i knew it was a Mt. team just didn't remember which one ha..and if you look at college ball over the past few years teams are actually going away from this cupcake scheduling and toward very tough out of conference scheduling to make the conference games that much easier.
  20. i agree with the above topic about solely relying on Gilliam. If he has an off night then the other guards need to pick up the shooting. The posts will always be at disadvantage becuase they're so undersized compared to their opponents' big men. Bouched played extremly well with his rebounds and stick backs but your not gonna get that many points outta him every game. He's just not a scorer like that. He's a hustle guy thats gonna bang and score becuase he can jump outta the gym. You wouldn't think by looking at him but he can. On the night's he doesn't put in 17 ( which is more than likely to be more nights than when we does do it ) then Parker and and the other guards need to step up the scoring. I think they'll be fine come district play. Looking at the schedule and say they pull off the game last night, they had a shot of goin 7-0 or 6-0 here before the break. Fans and student section just keep supporting them and they'll continue to feed off it and play hard. Go Rebels!
  21. I believe that Coach Suiter is doing a fine job and I'm not jumping in that argument, but i do feel like this early scheduling is horrible, whoever made it out. There's no way on earth that beating teams the way they are is going to help them in this extremely competitive district. Beating a team like Gosnell and Mt. Juliet or whoever it was they hung 107 on earlier this year is insane and does nothing for a team, especially when your varsity doesn't play longer than 10 minutes a game. I think the Lady Rebels will win the district this year in my honest opinion, but i just think this schedule will come back to haunt them when it comes down to the nitty gritty.
  22. Central lost a great game to Gosnell, AR tonight 67-66...the Rebels had a shot with 3 seconds left but couldn't convert....it was a very well played game by the Rebels but the ball just didn't bounce their way...from what i saw the last few games their really putting forth the right effort and mindframe and look better than the team last year that started the year 3-0....i don't think they're record speaks for the kind of team that they are. They've played a very tough schedule to start the season out and I believe that come district time and Gibson Co. rolls around that Coach Kail will have them ready and come away with a 12 point win...
  23. i just don't see this loss hurting them. They have players that can handle the ball. When they get Miller back and Owens and Gibson to decide what they wanna do then they'll be fine.
  24. for it to be a 32 point loss, this is the best ive seen Obion look against Union City in a while. they weren't intmidated and handled the press extremely well until the last minute or so of the first half. With the amazing difference in athleticism between Central and almost everybody they play, the Rebels really held their own against arguably the best team they'll play all year. If they can handle the pressure the tornadoes put on them like they did the first half then their district opponents' defense won't be nearly as intimidating. I really think that this is gonna be a turning point with the Rebels. They gave their heart for that game even when they were down big and that shows me that quit isn't in them, which pull out a few wins by itself for them. I really think they're gonna start to put this together and reel off the season they were touted to. and to add, i don't think, from what i saw outta the ball handling the first half of the UC game, the Davis loss won't hurt them in the long run. When Miller returns and Lee gets his legs underneath him, they'll pick up the slack left from his absence. The scoring can be picked up by their post play, which i think they found out is their strong point. All in all, this game gave me a renewed sense of hope for this Rebel season.
