  1. SG has played and beaten Greeneville, Grainger, Sullivan East, Gatlinburg-Pittman, Chuckey Doak, and I could continue. So maybe someone should tell SG that they are not supposed to be beating AA teams, since they apparently don't know their role. I didn't see any common opponents that SG has with McMinn Central so I have no way of knowing which is the better team, but to base it on class is just wrong.
  2. Because SG is A and MC is AA? Because class doesn't mean anything.
  3. I second this. Taylor Lamb deserves the nomination. She is a phenomenal team player.
  4. Any ideas where the District and Regional tournaments will be this year?
  5. You can read the Single A 2015-2016 thread and see that he is not an SG.
  6. Um really? I Thought you were a District 3 A fan.
  7. I would assume they have been invited, but I can understand the want to travel from Betsy as well.
  8. South Greene is playing great right now. They had me worried after Christmas break, but looked great against a very big, very physical, and very good Gatlinburg-Pitman team tonight. They won in overtime 71-60. They return to conference play Friday against North Greene. To add to the ongoing conversation, I have seen Morristown West multiple times this year, at the Ladies Classic and at South Greene. They have handed South Greene two of their three losses. They are a phenomenal team. I would love to see them against Betsy. I haven't seen the Cyclones this year, but I imagine they would be pretty evenly matched. It would be a nice game to watch. Why doesn't Elizabethton ever play in the Ladies Classic? That would be a good opportunity for them to meet up.
  9. SG just defeated Grainger in OT. They played the first half like they did against Hampton and went into the locker room down by around 12. They looked like themselves in the second half. Final was 82-76.
  10. They Are typically the two leading scorers. Also, SG was unable to break the press tonight. These two are the ones who break that. They are also great 3 point shooters and have several steals a piece per game. Yes, they make a difference in the game tonight. I'm not trying to take anything away from Hampton, just telling it like it is. Hampton may have very well won tonight but it would not have been by that margin.
  11. SG was missing two starting guards. Brown and Shaw. It's a team sport and they do well playing as a team, but those two are key leaders.
  12. It was at Hampton. The atmosphere was overwhelming, but the refs weren't too bad. The worst part was with them not calling time on Hampton. They could hold the ball forever and I think had it called twice. Maybe just once. SG looked sluggish, and Lamb couldn't buy a shot. Her shots would just roll around the rim before rolling off. Hopefully this will jolt the Lady Rebels into gear. They are much better than they played today. Also Hampton is better than they are given credit for. SG and Hampton should both be going to substate. But anything can happen when it comes to High School basketball.
  13. First off, Martian Man does not represent SG as I think he supports 3a. Secondly, the arrogance of fans from the middle and west districts of the state is extremely off putting. Year after year, the East sends teams to the state tournament and are consistently overlooked and not given the credit they deserve. SG played a sloppy game against Community last year and won on a last second triple. They then went on to be beaten by Middleton by one after leading much of the game. Even after all of that, the credit they earned was still lacking. There are several high caliber teams in single A in the East as well as AA and AAA. Just take a look at Elizabethton and Morristown West. SG plays with and against some of the best. Morristown West is on their schedule each year and is currently the only team to beat them. SG was the Runner-up to West in the Ladies Classic which was filled with talent from teams such as Bearden, Mt. Juliet, and Greeneville. If that isn't enough to earn at least a little respect than you simply have none to give.
  14. South Greene defeated North Greene. It was a low scoring game, but had tons of action.
  15. It's hard to let them go, isn't it? Lol. Losing Ashton hurt, but not as bad as many would think, as SG gained her youngest sister to take over her number and position. Being a Freshman, she does lack experience, but that is all. She does not disappoint.
  16. I would certainly hope that any team would be a quality opponent in substate. SG will have to continue to play solid basketball to prevent being upset and to make it to substate, but you originally stated that you would not want to be the team from another district who had to match up against one from District 3. I can assure that SG will not back down or be intimidated by another district. They are a strong, solid team. They just finished as runner up in the Landair Ladies Classic. Their only two losses have both been to AAA powerhouse Morristown West. They have also played other very good competition in and outside of the Ladies Classic. The SG team that lost to Middleton by one last year in the state tournament looks even stronger this year.
  17. Great win by Greeneville against Bearden. Congrats to them. South Greene struggled the entire game against Mo West. As I stated before, their age is their weakest link. They will only grow stronger and getting the opportunity to play teams like Morristown West is really what they need to help build that experience. They have been blowing by teams all year with very little pressure. A loss "or two" to Mo West is nothing to hang your head about in single A. The Ladies Classic was stacked with talent this year. 1st place goes to class AAA Morristown West 2nd place to Single A South Greene and 3rd to AA Greeneville High. East Tn should not be overlooked by the middle or the West end of the state.
  18. I will agree with this comment. South Greene will be the team to beat in single A. They will take on Morristown West for the second time tomorrow. Hampton and North Greene will probably not go very far in the post season. South Greene's weakest but best part is that they are so young. Only 1 junior and the rest are freshmen and sophomores so they be dominant for the next few years. AA Elizabethton remains dominant. AAA Morristown West will be the team to beat. I do think SG can pull through tomorrow.. I'm partial of course, but it doesn't matter in the long run as they are in different divisions.
  19. Ok. Thanks. I'm sure I'll hear about it at some point.
  20. By the way.... What was the final score? And if anyone can clear up what happened in those final two minutes, I would love to know.
  21. SG lost most of last years squad, but still have the same drive and heart as last year. They lost to NG in a Thanksgiving tourney championship, but I expect much more from them in regular season play against the Huskies. I didn't get to go to the game tonight and missed the last two minutes on the radio, but it sounded like a good one to watch. SG also picked up sophomore Standridge. He had played in NC last year. Sounded like he had an off night tonight, but he has the size that SG missed last year. They are still a team heavily ran by guards who shoot outside.
  22. It looks like GCA has gotten off to a rough start. I haven't seen anything on Harriman or Tellico. Why do you think another district would not want to meet up with any of these teams? I'm just wondering if there's something I'm not seeing with stats.
