  1. We have 55 girls registered for our camp this coming week. We have added two more counselors and clinicians. Samantha Klingel a 2016 WCWA national champion and 2016 graduate from King and current WCAP athlete and Daisy Santos a RS Senior at King with 3 WCWA All-American honors to her name. If you are interested in attending please contact tjmercado@king.edu and we'll get you registered. No female wrestler in TN should miss this camp!
  2. Camp Clinicians that will be at our summer camp. Frank Morgan - TN State Champ, 4x National Qualifier, 2x All-American. Frank Morgan is the all time wins leader at King University at 100 career wins. Morgan qualified for the NAIA and NCAA each year he was at King earning All-American status twice. Dustin Kirk - CA State Placer, 2x California Community College State Champ, NCAA All-American. Dustin comes to King University from Southern California. A red-shirt senior was among the top of our team this year leading the team in wins. Dustin placed 2nd at Midwest Classic Individual tournament then completed the season taking 3rd at the NCAA Nationals in Birmingham. Bryce Killian - PA State Placer, 2x National Qualifier, and 2017 NCAA All-American. Killian a PA native, leads the Tornado in technical falls in a season and career. Killian became the 1st NCAA National Qualifier since 2011 when he placed 3rd at NCAA Super Regionals in 2016. Killian made a return trip in 2017 and finished in 7th place.   3. We are at 40+ girls for our camp in 1.5 weeks! Girls from Ca, IN, OH, FL, GA, VA, TN, MD, and girls from Canada are coming. We are still taking registrations. Coaches and parents do not miss this opportunity for your female athletes and daughters to get a chance to get instructions from the top college womens program's coaches and athletes.
  4. We are still accepting registrations for our women's camp in two weeks. Get those registrations in! We just got word that we may have some girls from Canada attending. This is a fantastic opportunity for your daughters to get a chance to wrestle some international girls.   6. Coaches and Parents we are still accepting registrations for the Tornado Women's Wrestling Camp! If you have a girl(s) on your team please let them know of this camp! This is a great opportunity for them to learn from the top women's college program in the nation. Counselors and Clinicians to include 4x WCWA All-American, 2x WCWA National Champion, Senior Pan Am Champion Julia Salata (also assistant coach for King University), 3x WCWA All-American Hanna Grisewood, and 4x WCWA All-American, 2016 WCWA National Champion, 5th 2017 Senior Pan American Championships Forrest Molinari. Head Coach Jason Moorman and Associate Head Coach Travis Mercado will also be there to show techniques and skills that have helped propel King University Women's Wrestling to the top of not only the collegiate level but also the senior level as well. We will focus on high percentage leg attacks, set ups, and finishes. Campers will also learn high level takedown defense and front headlocks. Clinciians will also show techniques used from both the top and bottom positions Rates Individual Resident: $300 (Deposit due July 1st) Includes dorm room, insurance, meal plan, t-shirt, and clinician fee (must be 12 years of age or older) Individual Commuter: $225 (Deposit due July 1st) Includes insurance, t-shirt, and clinician fee (meal plan can be purchased for commuters for $60) Payment: Cash and checks only, cash preferred. Checks must be made out to Tornado Wrestling Camps . Registration Pre-registration: All campers must pre-register by July 1st, 2017 by sending in a registration form, and deposit of $100. Final Registration: Sunday, July 16th, 2017 at 4pm in the Student Center Complex lobby. All remaining cost must be paid by the start of camp. All three seniors earned wins and the Tornado took the final three matches by pin to take the dual 38-3. THE BASICS FINAL SCORE: No. 1 King 38, No. 14 Emmanuel 3 LOCATION: Student Center Complex; Bristol, Tenn. RECORDS: King 12-0; Emmanuel 6-8 HOW IT HAPPENED Cassidy Ferrell got the Tornado going with a 10-0 technical fall victory over Alouette Gonzalez at 101 pounds and Marina Doi followed with an 11-0 technical fall win over Maria Vidales at 109 pounds. At 109 pounds, senior Breonnah Neal took a 10-0 technical fall victory over seventh-ranked Cincy Calixto before King opened up a 17-0 lead with a win by forfeit at 123 pounds. Fellow senior Hanna Grisewood took a 5-0 lead before taking a win by injury default at 130 pounds before Emmanuel got on the board with a win at 136 pounds. Jessi Kee started a run of pins to close the match for the Tornado at 143 pounds, pinning Krista Martin in 1:16. Senior Forrest Molinari then pinned Mia Leon in 17 seconds at 155 pounds an Alexis Bleau pinned Kayla Wade in 27 seconds, giving King the 38-3 victory. In the Super Region Two rankings, King is ranked 10th and has four individuals ranked, including Kirk who is ranked second. NATIONAL RANKINGS For the third straight poll, the Tornado are receiving votes in the national D2Wrestle.com poll and have one individual ranked. After his showing at the Virginia Duals, Kirk is currently ranked fifth. Kirk went 3-1 at the Virginia Duals with a 17-2 technical fall victory over Ashton Robinson from Liberty University and pinned Alex Velez from Camden Community College. Kirk is 13-7 on the season with five wins by pin and two major decisions. SUPER REGION TWO RANKINGS In the latest edition of the D2Wrestle.com regional rankings, the Tornado are ranked 10th in Super Region Two. King also has four individuals ranked at their respective weight classes in the region. Kirk is ranked second at 133 pounds, and leads the way for King following a 3-1 finish at the Virginia Duals. A 17-2 technical fall victory over Ashton Robinson from Division 1 Liberty University and a pin over Alex Velez from Camden Community College has Kirk in a great ranking. Kirk is 13-7 on the season with five wins by pin and two major decisions. Bryce Killian held his fourth place ranking at 141 pounds. He went 2-1 at the Virginia Duals. At 174 pounds, Joey Mammolenti is ranked sixth after defeating Dylan Gouine from Emmanuel by a 4-0 decision. Mammolenti is 16-9 on the season, including a 4-1 mark on technical falls. Cody Davis is ranked eighth at 285 pounds and defeated Kenny Mason from Emmanuel College by a 1:16 second pin in his latest victory. King returns to the mat on Saturday. The Tornado host Coker College in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) bout in the Student Center Complex at 1:00 p.m.

RECORDS: King 4-3, 2-1 ECAC; Coker 3-4, 0-3 ECAC HOW IT HAPPENED Reed Jacks got King off to a good start with a 3-1 decision over Frank Velez at 125 pounds. Jacks earned a takedown in the second period and an escape in the third to take the victory. Jacob Wynn followed with an impressive performance against Dylan Barrett at 133 pounds. He earned a takedown and followed it with four near falls to take the 18-0 technical fall victory. Fifth-ranked Dustin Kirk came away with a 7-3 decision over Matthew Kieta with a pair of takedowns in the first and third periods. At 149 pounds, Ethyn Ewing gave King their first of three pins in the match, pinning Bret Shurina. Following a Shurina takedown, Ewing evened the score with a reversal and earned the pin in 1:26. Cory Collins followed with a 10-1 major decision over Walker Barfield at 157 pounds. Leading 2-0 after the first period, Collins earned an escape and two takedowns in the second period and another takedown in the third for the win. Landon Reed had a big first period against Jamez Taylor at 165 pounds, with a takedown and three near falls. He then earned an escape early in the second period for the 15-0 technical fall. At 174 pounds, Joey Mammolenti pinned Jamal Lackey in 2:25, giving King a 32-0 lead over the Cobras. Elijah Seay had a good first period, building up an 8-2 lead over Jordon Garlow at 184 pounds. Following a takedown in the second period, Seay earned the pin in 3:39. Eldon Valery, Jr. earned a win by forfeit at 197 pounds, the Cobras took a win by forfeit at 285 pounds, giving King the 44-6 victory.
