  1. We have 55 girls registered for our camp this coming week. We have added two more counselors and clinicians. Samantha Klingel a 2016 WCWA national champion and 2016 graduate from King and current WCAP athlete and Daisy Santos a RS Senior at King with 3 WCWA All-American honors to her name.   2. Camp Clinicians that will be at our summer camp. Frank Morgan - TN State Champ, 4x National Qualifier, 2x All-American. Frank Morgan is the all time wins leader at King University at 100 career wins. Morgan qualified for the NAIA and NCAA each year he was at King earning All-American status twice. Dustin Kirk - CA State Placer, 2x California Community College State Champ, NCAA All-American. Dustin comes to King University from Southern California. A red-shirt senior was among the top of our team this year leading the team in wins. Dustin placed 2nd at Midwest Classic Individual tournament then completed the season taking 3rd at the NCAA Nationals in Birmingham. Bryce Killian - PA State Placer, 2x National Qualifier, and 2017 NCAA All-American. Killian a PA native, leads the Tornado in technical falls in a season and career. Killian became the 1st NCAA National Qualifier since 2011 when he placed 3rd at NCAA Super Regionals in 2016. Killian made a return trip in 2017 and finished in 7th place. Coaches and parents do not miss this opportunity for your female athletes and daughters to get a chance to get instructions from the top college womens program's coaches and athletes.

All three seniors earned wins and the Tornado took the final three matches by pin to take the dual 38-3. RECORDS: King 12-0; Emmanuel 6-8 HOW IT HAPPENED Cassidy Ferrell got the Tornado going with a 10-0 technical fall victory over Alouette Gonzalez at 101 pounds and Marina Doi followed with an 11-0 technical fall win over Maria Vidales at 109 pounds. At 109 pounds, senior Breonnah Neal took a 10-0 technical fall victory over seventh-ranked Cincy Calixto before King opened up a 17-0 lead with a win by forfeit at 123 pounds. Fellow senior Hanna Grisewood took a 5-0 lead before taking a win by injury default at 130 pounds before Emmanuel got on the board with a win at 136 pounds. Jessi Kee started a run of pins to close the match for the Tornado at 143 pounds, pinning Krista Martin in 1:16. Senior Forrest Molinari then pinned Mia Leon in 17 seconds at 155 pounds an Alexis Bleau pinned Kayla Wade in 27 seconds, giving King the 38-3 victory. In the Super Region Two rankings, King is ranked 10th and has four individuals ranked, including Kirk who is ranked second. NATIONAL RANKINGS For the third straight poll, the Tornado are receiving votes in the national D2Wrestle.com poll and have one individual ranked. After his showing at the Virginia Duals, Kirk is currently ranked fifth. Kirk went 3-1 at the Virginia Duals with a 17-2 technical fall victory over Ashton Robinson from Liberty University and pinned Alex Velez from Camden Community College. Kirk is 13-7 on the season with five wins by pin and two major decisions. SUPER REGION TWO RANKINGS In the latest edition of the D2Wrestle.com regional rankings, the Tornado are ranked 10th in Super Region Two. King also has four individuals ranked at their respective weight classes in the region. Kirk is ranked second at 133 pounds, and leads the way for King following a 3-1 finish at the Virginia Duals. A 17-2 technical fall victory over Ashton Robinson from Division 1 Liberty University and a pin over Alex Velez from Camden Community College has Kirk in a great ranking. Kirk is 13-7 on the season with five wins by pin and two major decisions. Bryce Killian held his fourth place ranking at 141 pounds. He went 2-1 at the Virginia Duals. At 174 pounds, Joey Mammolenti is ranked sixth after defeating Dylan Gouine from Emmanuel by a 4-0 decision. Mammolenti is 16-9 on the season, including a 4-1 mark on technical falls. Cody Davis is ranked eighth at 285 pounds and defeated Kenny Mason from Emmanuel College by a 1:16 second pin in his latest victory. King returns to the mat on Saturday. The Tornado host Coker College in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) bout in the Student Center Complex at 1:00 p.m.

The Tornado showed their dominance early and throughout their 44-6 victory over Coker College. THE BASICS FINAL SCORE: King 44, Coker 6 LOCATION: Student Center Complex; Bristol, Tenn. RECORDS: King 4-3, 2-1 ECAC; Coker 3-4, 0-3 ECAC HOW IT HAPPENED Reed Jacks got King off to a good start with a 3-1 decision over Frank Velez at 125 pounds. Jacks earned a takedown in the second period and an escape in the third to take the victory. Jacob Wynn followed with an impressive performance against Dylan Barrett at 133 pounds. He earned a takedown and followed it with four near falls to take the 18-0 technical fall victory. Fifth-ranked Dustin Kirk came away with a 7-3 decision over Matthew Kieta with a pair of takedowns in the first and third periods. At 149 pounds, Ethyn Ewing gave King their first of three pins in the match, pinning Bret Shurina. Following a Shurina takedown, Ewing evened the score with a reversal and earned the pin in 1:26. Cory Collins followed with a 10-1 major decision over Walker Barfield at 157 pounds. Leading 2-0 after the first period, Collins earned an escape and two takedowns in the second period and another takedown in the third for the win. Landon Reed had a big first period against Jamez Taylor at 165 pounds, with a takedown and three near falls. He then earned an escape early in the second period for the 15-0 technical fall. At 174 pounds, Joey Mammolenti pinned Jamal Lackey in 2:25, giving King a 32-0 lead over the Cobras. Elijah Seay had a good first period, building up an 8-2 lead over Jordon Garlow at 184 pounds. Following a takedown in the second period, Seay earned the pin in 3:39. Eldon Valery, Jr. earned a win by forfeit at 197 pounds, the Cobras took a win by forfeit at 285 pounds, giving King the 44-6 victory. The Tornado grabbed the lead early against Belmont Abbey College in the opening Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) dual of the season and didn't look back, taking the contest 30-10. THE BASICS FINAL SCORE: King 30, Belmont Abbey 10 LOCATION: Wheeler Center; Belmont, N.C. RECORDS: King 1-0, 1-0 ECAC; Belmont Abbey 3-4, 0-1 ECAC HOW IT HAPPENED Reed Jacks got King off to a good start, earning a tough 5-4 victory over Michael Bedard at 125 pounds. The Crusaders followed with a win by decision at 133 pounds before King earned back-to-back wins to extend the lead. Dustin Kirk tried to bring the momentum back to the Tornado at 141 pounds, pinning John Gahagan in 2:42 to earn six points for the Tornado. Ethyn Ewing then faced a tough match at 149 pounds, taking a tight 10-8 decision over Santonio Thompson to give King a 12-3 lead. Belmont Abbey then took a pair of wins, one by major decision, cutting the King lead to 12-10 before Joey Mammolenti extended the Tornado lead at 174 pounds. Mammolenti earned an 18-2 technical fall victory over Seth Bridgeman, extending the King lead to 17-10. At 184 pounds, Elijah Seay took a major decision over Luke Glunt by the score of 13-2 and Eldon Valery, Jr. clinched the Tornado victory with a win by forfeit at 197 pounds. Cody Davis capped the victory, defeated Chass Delgado 4-2 in overtime to give King the 30-10 victory. Killian starts the new season ranked eighth in the country at 141 pounds. In final rankings of 2015-16 Killian was ranked eighth, leading into the NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships, and that's where he starts his junior campaign. Killian became the first Tornado wrestler to qualify for the NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships since 2012 as he finished third at the Super Region II Championships. The Middletown, Pa., native was ranked as high as third nationally a season ago and finished the season with a 30-7 record, earning first team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) following the season. Killian and the Tornado open the new season on Sunday at the SouthEast (Hokie) Open in Roanoke, Va.

This group of five is led by Bryce Killian and Reed Jacks while Eldon Valery, Jr., Joey Mammolenti and Dustin Kirk join them in the rankings. Killian is ranked first at 141 pounds to start the 2016-17, right where he ended last year. A season ago, Killian became the first Tornado wrestling to qualify for the NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships since 2012 as he finished third at the Super Region II Championships. The Middletown, Pa., native was ranked as high as third nationally and finished the season with a 30-7 record, earning first team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) following the season. Jacks starts the season ranked seventh at 125 pounds following a year that saw him post a 24-11 record. In 2015-16, the Alabaster, Ala., native finish first at the King University Open, fourth at the Kaufman Brand Open and seventh at the Midwest Classic. In his first season wearing the scarlet and navy, Mammolenti went 10-7 and starts 2016-17 ranked eighth at 174 pounds. The South Bend, Ind., native went 4-1 at the Kaufman Brand Open, en route to a third place finish. He later won the King University Open, winning all three of his matches. The fourth Tornado to be ranked in the Super Region II rankings is Valery, Jr. who checks in at eighth at 197 pounds. The Virginia Beach, Va., native is coming off of a redshirt season for the Tornado. The year prior he posted a 7-5 record. Lastly Kirk is ranked seventh at 133 following a redshirt year for the Tornado. The D2Wrestle.com national rankings are scheduled to come out on Friday morning. King opens the season on November 6 at the Hokie Open.

King posted six different individual champions out of seven weight class entries and had the top two finishers in two weight classes. HOW IT HAPPENED King entered three wrestlers at 101 pounds, and all three reached the semifinals. Marina Doi earned a pair of 10-0 technical fall wins over Maia Phanthadara of University of the Cumberlands and Cassidy Ferrell of King to reach the finals. Regina Doi also reached the finals, earning a 10-0 technical fall win over Rebecca Forsyth of Cumberlands before topping Sarah Allen of Cumberlands 8-3 to reach the finals. Marina and Regina were then named co-champions after a double forfeit in the finals. Ferrell took a 16-8 vicotry over Naomi Chavez of Emmanuel College to reach the semifinals before falling to teammate Marina Doi. She then fell to Allen in the third place bout to give her a fourth place finish. At 109 pounds, the championship bout was between a pair of Tornado, Breonnah Neal and Aleeah Gould. The veteran, Neal took a 10-0 technical fall victory over the freshman to take the title. All four of Neal's victories on the day were 10-0 technical fall victories. She first topped AArelys Valles of Cumberlands before defeating Chelsea Reynosa and Iesha Washington of Emmanuel to reach the finals. Gould earned her first two career victories by fall, pinning Emmanuel's Jessie Childs in 48 seconds and following it with a 2:15 pin of Nikki Weidman of Life University. Gould reached the finals with a 6-4 decision over Emmanuel's Maria Vidales. Hanna Grisewood went 3-0, all 10-0 technical fall victories at 123 pounds to take the title. She first topped Kellyann Jimenez of Cumberlands before defeating Amanda Nelson of Ferrum College. Grisewood capped the day, defeating Kayla Messar of Life in the finals. In her first career collegiate tournament, Nicole Joseph came away with a title at 130 pounds. Her first career victory came by fall as she pinned Brianna Bogdan of McKendree University in 3:46. She followed it with a 10-0 technical fall win over Aysia Cortez of Life before pinning Autumn Potkay of Ferrum in 5:08 in the championship bout. At 143 pounds, Hannah Jewell earned a pair of technical fall victories and one by fall en route to the title. She started with an 11-0 win over Shannon Henry of McKendree before pinning Jasmine Bailey of McKendree. She earned the title with a 10-0 victory over Hannah Gladden of Cumberlands. Forrest Molinari won her first two bouts at 170 pounds by 10-0 technical fall, defeating Courteney Tompkins of Cumberlands and Nadine Fiege of Life to reach the finals. However, she fell to Cumberlands' Jessika Rottier 6-2 in the finals, giving Molinari a second place finish. Another Tornado freshman took home a championship in her first collegiate tournament, Kenya Spencer at 191 pounds. Spencer took her first career win on a 10-0 technical fall when she topped Kayla Wade of Emmanuel. She followed with a pin of Lifes Kelly Swanson in 1:41 to reach the finals. In the finals she came away with a 3-3 victory on criteria over Janelle Fuamatu of McKendree.   19. The 2016 King University Men's Wrestling Camp has been rescheduled to July 10 - 14. This is a great opportunity to get some quality mat time before summer's end. Come out to the 10th annual King University Men's Wrestling Camp and experience top notch technique and instruction by 3 time WCWA and NWCA National Championship Coach Jason Moorman and two time All-American Frank Morgan. The camp will also feature nationally ranked Bryce Killian. Bryce finished 2016 top ten in Division II tech falls, comprising a total of 14 tech falls throughout the season across all divisions. Each day will include two technique sessions followed by one session with focus on live wrestling, conditioning and mental toughness. At the beginning of the week each camper will be placed on a dual team with a collegiate wrestler as coach. At the end of the week each dual team will compete in a round robin style dual tournament. Our goal is to teach each participant high percentage technique and necessary mental focus to succeed in the sport of wrestling.   20. Women's camp starts this Sunday! It is not too late to register your female wrestlers to camp. We currently have 15 girls registered. Great oppurutnity for them to prepare for Fargo, and learn technique from our national championship team members and coaches.   21. Coaches, Wrestlers, and families Due to decreased numbers for our men's technique camp we have decided to cancel our camp and are looking to possibly have the camp at a later date this summer.   23. Weekly update for Camp! Registrations have been coming in the past week. I've received many questions about the camp. 1) Is the camp open to all wrestlers? - Yes camp is open to all middle school and high school aged wrestlers. "newbies" and experienced wrestlers are welcome. Camp is geared to teaching the basic technqiues that are prevalent in being successful at the high school level as well as teaching techniques and strategies that are used at the collegiate level. 2) Is the Pre-Registration a firm date? - Yes, but if there are extrenuating circumstances please contact the coaching staff and we are very willing to work with you, your camper, and your team. 3) What is the daily structure for the camp - The flyer shows a brief structure and timeline, but to go into more detail the morning and afternoon sessions will be more technique driven and structure to help the athletes learn the skills that we are teaching, while the evening sessions are going to consist of a quick review of the techniques that were taught in the first 2 sessions and live sessions 4) Who are the clincians going to be? - The coaching staff at King University: Head Coach Jason Moorman - 2x WCWA National Champions, 2x NWCA National Duals Champions, 2x WCWA Head Coach of the Year, 2014 USA Wrestling Senior Pan American Coach Assistant Coach Frank Morgan - King University graduate NAIA Runner-up, 2x All-American Assitant Coach Travis Mercado - California State University, Fullerton graduate; 2x Veterans Freestyle National Champ, 2015 USA Wrestling Klippan Open cadet and junior freestyle coach Assistant Coach Nicole Woddy - 4x WCWA All-American, WCWA National Champion, Women's freestyle world medalist, 2012 World Team Trials qualifer. - The 2015-2016 King University team members: Returning and incoming student athletes will also be on staff to help campers in each individual session
