  1. Funny froshpop. That is what I was saying last night. Our coaches specifically on the offensive side are not very good. Gaddis and the other coaches obviously have something against 17. Despite being unable to move the ball they never gave him a shot. He may not be as quick as 14 but I dare say that he can still scramble and get first downs when needed.
  2. Frosh pop How many time outs did we have to use in order to avoid delay of game penalties. We were unable to get the ball to our wide receivers. The two offensive TD's we scored were flukes. Just like SS said the line has to improve. Remember were I am coming from, state championships is the goal.
  3. We are gonna lose with 14 at QB. Our coaches are inept!!!
  4. Not impressed. 17 hasn't seen the field on O. Tee is completely taken out of the game. I know the refs are horrible but our D is carrying us. I believe our D will carry us all year unless there is a change at QB.

  6. Sorry Bounder, could not wait. Had to get that out there. The defense is stout. Mitchell ran down that pass it was nice. Jackson's effort on the screen pass was excellent. I also like that they are doing the kicking as well. None of the other teams attempted extra points. Just fun to watch.
  7. Turns out they also played the Hardin Valley JV as well. They won that 7 - 0. They are gonna be good if they stay together.
  8. No SS. Gaddis had a conversation with the Karns and SD coach and they decided to go ahead and play. SD offense was shutdown by the freshmen D.
  9. Freshmen took on the South Doyle JV. Won 6 - 0 after one quarter. Supposed to be all freshmen but South Doyle brought their JV. Great job by the frosh!!!
  10. I still think number 17 is our best bet at QB. I do not understand the coaching staff's reasoning for not starting him. Number 14 is more valuable as a slot receiver. IMO.
  11. SweetScience I played for Gaddis in 88, as I said in an earlier post. I have the utmost respect for him. I do question the staff he has around him. As you said he can't hold everyone's hands. The fact that we have had linemen quit really concerns me as well.
  12. Catswild I am wildcat through and through. But I am not blind. We have not won a state championship since 1991! We have had the talent. Then why haven't we won one? 2005-we had the talent. Why didn't we win? 1996-1997? When I see a program win year after year with less talent than we have, I begin to wonder what they are doing that we are not. You may be satisfied with less than state titles for OR but I am not. It used to be our goal. I guess 10 - 0 against a weak schedule and a couple of rounds in the playoffs is good enough.
  13. I reckon I'm just old school. I know that the kids are working hard I was talking about the coaching. You know the adults on the field! I believe that you find a QB or RB and develop them. Do when they get to be upperclassmen everyone knows who's gonna be where. I understand that things can change. It seems OR has always got a lot of undeveloped talent. I cannot stand Maryville, but right now they are the class of this state and have been for a while now. Not because they have the best athletes, because they don't. They are coached and developed to be who they are going to be from day one. They show respect and their coach shows them respect. The same cannot be said for OR! I want what everyone else wants, STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. I just do not see it happening here as long as we do not have the same discipline and respect from the coaches and the players.
  14. Folks I have been watching the freshmen practice more so than the varsity. I see a lot of horseplay and lack of discipline and attention. I hope you folks aren't seeing the same thing up on the varsity field. I will tell you that I have never been to a Maryville practice, but I can just about bet that you won't see those things there! I am extremely disappointed in what I see from the coaching staff and their decisions at the skill positions. Any QB and line can be made to look good in a scrimmage if you can get the ball in Tre's or Jordan's hands, but they do not practice with the freshmen. Our offense looks terrible against the scout defense without the freshmen phenoms! I see the same things happening at the varsity level. I am disappointed in the coaching or lack thereof.
  15. SS-Brad Dew was special. He was going to be very special. His life was cut way to short for no reason. He is really missed.
  16. Oakridgecat100-I was there Friday night and saw the run. It is exciting to see runs like that against Halls. It's another thing against a good team. Question is our O-line going to be good enough to open up holes against DB and teams that are bigger and better than Halls. I believe that they'll be ok. But ok may not be good enough to get us to our goal.
  17. We had fun in 88. Jerry Colqiutt, Kwayu Graham, Mike Caldwell, Johnny Williams, Edward Dunbar, Brad Dew, John Spratling, Stan Cooper, John Eleam...shoot we should have won state!!!!!
  18. I know he does. I played for him in 88. Back when we ran the Maryland I and the pitch sweep. In today's pass happy world, it's nice to see some good ole ground and pound.
  19. Ultimately, all we need out of the run game is 3.5 yards a carry. Both QBs are capable of giving us that. It all depends on the growth of our O-line. If we can't achieve that then it will not be the OBs or RBs fault. The goal is, as it always should be, a state championship.
