  3. I wouldn't put too much stock in gaging teams off jamborees. Most coaches only play a base defense and only run basic plays on offense. You don't prepare teams for jamborees, you prepare them for the first game.
  4. If you feel they were so bad last year (most would agree) I guess it's good that hafner is the only one back. Maybe fresh players will help. Some JV DBs have a hard time with the basics.....that's why they are JV and not varsity.
  5. I agree to a point. DBs were young last year not to mention had more injuries than the talent allowed. The DBs for the most part are the same skill guys on offense. The OL worries me more than the DBs. Young and light. But coach Beaver is one of the best so by mid season they should be playing above expectations. I'm also very pleased in the young QB so far.
  6. I hope your right GB. But Beech has had trouble when it comes to beating wilson central. Even in 2012, they had to throw it a lot (much more than usual) to come out with a last second victory. Hillsboro, Hville, and Gallatin will be tight games. Beech could win or lose all 3. I also hope we don't go to sleep against s camp or cane ridge.
  7. I couldn't resist. Especially since Hville has handed it to us as of late. I do hope Beech and MJ pick the series back up in 2 years. I always loved the atmosphere the series provided. In all honesty the best of luck to MJ this year. I may go to the wave - bear game. WIlson central has had beechs number and its hard to watch.
  8. I hope you are right. They deserve it, they have worked very hard.
  9. What a great game to start the season for both teams. I expect a very close game. Special teams will be the difference.
  10. I'm a Beech fan, but I did not go to the jamboree. I do have a few questions for those that did go. Did Beech hold back its better players? Did mt Juliet hold back theirs? Which vanzant had to sit down? How did the o-line look for both teams? Does this "victory" help ease the pain for mj faithful of Beech domination from the last decade?
  11. You could be right - In fact I hope you are right. I would love to see the Cavs have a great year. But when was the last time Cookeville beat a Rutherford County team? I remember them beating La Vergne somewhere around the 2004 or 05 season. I could be wrong, but I'm just giving an impartial opinion. I will say they do have a shot at Smyrna (who I have seen play this year), but I still think SHS comes out on top. All in All good luck to the Cavs I hope they have a great season.
  12. Wins:Upperman, Livingston, Warren,White,Coffee (5) Losses: Rutherford county teams (5)
  13. They will go 5-5. But one thing is for sure they will make the playoffs!
  14. It is really neat that these two coaches were able to get this jamboree going. From the youngsters all the way up to young men. Although it wont be measurable to the games in the past. I will be shocked if Napper, Hafner, and the older Vanzant play, and I am sure MJ will hold out its better players in some form. This is really just a dress rehearsal, but it is really great to get as much of these communities involved as possible. I expect both programs to do well this year.
  15. Hville with the win, but this game will be closer than most ppl think.
