What is the difference in, let's say, Gordonsville (327) mercy ruling Pickett Co. vs Summertown (454) mercy ruling them? 100 kids? And this is no disrespect to Pickett but just the reality of the situation.

You all are saying that 200 cant compete with 480 but the majority of them cannot compete with 300 so they get beat bad regardless. The teams that would come down are not head over heels better than the average teams with 300 kids.

That is what I am arguing, the difference between 1A and 2A is nothing.

But we aren't talking about bringing oakland and maryville down to 1A. Is TC or peabody going to beat these teams any worse than SP or Greenback? Those are the top teams in 2A who i know for sure TC will be 1A next term.

I know it seems like a lot, but my argument is that the schools who compete in 1A now will still be able to to compete with the schools that come down. The margin is not as big as you think it is.

Doing the best we can. We've improved a lot as the season has gone on, and our defense is where we are strongest. Were you there when we scrimmaged you all this year?

Like i said guys i realize it is flawed, but i think it would be more competitive across the board.

Obviously there are cases where schools can request to play up or down like we have now.

This is just an example from what numbers I have found on TSSAA website. 1A is 0-484 2A is 484-821 3A is 821-1326 4A is 1326+ It evens out perfectly. In my opinion 2A in basketball gets screwed because 475 student schools are playing 1200+ schools. If you cut 2A basketball in half and just plug teams down or up it evens out perfectly. The difference between 400 and 1200 is much much greater than 1300 and 2000, at a certain point when you get that big it levels out. This is just my two cents, and I know there is of course some flaws to this but it is the most even way imo. Southtowner I am from Watertown

I think 4 is the number, and then you go 4 classes in every sport so all districts and regions are the same for every sport. There are no common teams from our football region to any of our other sports.

I think it was said earlier in this thread, but this is going to be a good test to see where we size up against Meigs (if we are fortunate enough to make it there). Upperman is explosive on offense and it very talented on defense. Should be a good one.
