  1. CW being so young, limited on depth + some injuries down the stretch = sad situation ...not only this week but also last week vs. McEwen & the week before vs. Bruceton. I hate it for them.
  2. Man, I appreciate your persona and quick-hitting comments. Keep it up!

  3. So Bruceton is now eliminated from playoff contention unless they shock the injured Mustangs of Huntingdon this Friday. Clarksville Academy looked abundantly convincing in their 56-12 victory over Perry County--a little better in fact than HC looked against PC. And Houston County made a statement of their own with a 56-20 victory over Bruceton--likewise more convincing than the Cougars' victory over the Tigers. CA has done much of its work with a freshman QB who may or may not be the man this week. The senior starter was quite accomplished a year ago in a full season of play. It would be interesting to see statistics on the Cougars' passing & rushing attack for the season and/or the past week. HC's sophomore QB has been much criticized this season for lack of production and for the Irish' heavy reliance on the run game (2300+ yards). However, the young man threw for 137 yards a TD and 0 ints against Bruceton on 5 completions out of 8 attempts--a QB rating of 145.8. Not quite a balanced offense when you consider the 321 yards rushing on 43 carries in that game; but it seems like progress is being made. Can HC win by maintaining and edge in the trench? Or does CA beat them with finesse? And who wins the turnover battle?
  4. When you consider the statistics of a QB on an undefeated team who has mercy ruled all but one opponent, must keep in mind that his statistics will never get padded like those of the standout RB who gets extra garbage time totes late in the game when it is still considered appropriate to run the ball. Just the nature of the beast working against our stat-analysis.
  5. Some pretty serious statistics coming out of some of these RBs!! Wish I could watch these young men. One thing I'll say for Rice... I think it's his football IQ piled on top of his athleticism that makes him such a worthy candidate. Players like him in the QB position are special in a way that is difficult to quantify against superior athletes in other skill positions. Any linemen to speak of on this thread?
  6. WC & NCS both look like pretty easy victories to call from my perspective. I've read in another post that Trousdale has made some mid-season personnel adjustments and could be more of a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs. Lot's of speed. With so much winning tradition and with some demoralizing injuries in Huntingdon, I wonder if this matchup couldn't go either way. Feeling flattered that these matchup predictions presume HC beating CA this week. Hope it proves true! If so, Jo Byrns certainly looks the favorite in that game with HC, but you never know. When the two teams scrimmaged last spring, it was a pretty balanced competition.
  7. Yeah, those two guys are TOUGH to handle, wherever you position them on defense. #20 ate HC's lunch all night when we hosted you guys. I love the fact that WC just has players....and that Coach Rice insightful/creative about those personal decisions week to week. Lot's of fluidity, nothing set in stone, limitless ways to challenge any given opponent...It's great stuff! I'm also still amazed at the vast number of explosive plays WC produces. 85-90% of WC touchdowns are scored from outside the redzone!!! And your team speed (or any individual players speed) is truly not that much beyond that of your opponents. 85-90%....that's just amazing. Championship caliber coaching, and uncanny execution for 1A high school ball....that's what it is. I haven't seen UC, Dresden, or NCS. But I believe that WC can play with and beat any of those teams even though the athleticism edge may go to the other team. Mark my words. This team from the little boro is something special that we should all take notice and enjoy.
  8. What were the numbers of the two kids who moved down to DT?
  9. It'd be fun(ny) to see what Huntingdon's team looks like when Horse gets the chance to coach em
  10. Good work as always on the stats #2. I think Hill (#40) is the best OLB in the region by far. He just gets it done week after week no matter the opponent.
  11. Kudos to WC for getting it done last night. Y'all are a great, classy, ever-improving football team. And I hope you represent region 6 all the way to the ship. Looking forward to the prospect of seeing your matchups with Nashville Christian and Union City! Huntingdon is still a great football team. To hold WC & the Rice Tandem (pure football brilliance) under 28 points is a tremendous accomplishment for any team. It's even more impressive knowing that you did it without Pearson (#44) most of the game. As good a runner as that kid is, I think his greatest football was played this year as a line-backer for the Mustangs. He is the best MLB that HC has seen all year, I believe. It makes sense that the Mustang offense would lose a lot of steam minus #11 & #44. Everything runs at a different pace when the hands distributing the ball are suddenly changed mid-game. Not to mention the loss of athleticism from those three starting backs. Probably a morale drop for the offensive line and a significant reduction in situational play-calling options for the coaches. All of these things snowball pretty fast when you play a team as disciplined as WC with the ability to score from anywhere on the field. I think it's fair to say that Huntingdon is not far behind WC. I also think it's fair to say that Coach Swenson didn't do so bad playing the hand he was dealt last night. Give that man some credit....He has built a team to be proud of and carried forward the tradition of an amazing program. And Mustang fans, you really should expect more out of your team in the playoffs than what many of you are now predicting on this board. You still have one of the best O & D lines in 1A football.
  12. wboro33....Pretty cool how you give Zebra35 the dignity of validating his points about poor officiating. I still wish someone from Huntingdon would have done that for HC and our boys after the shafty officiating we encountered over at Paul Ward. They kept wanting to say that it was bad both ways or that it was no excuse for how much below them we were--even after I offered them high praise for their talented team and acknowledged that they were much better than us. Maybe they will take notes and learn how to be respectful. Nevertheless, thanks.
  13. Hmmmm....I could have sworn I remember a bunch of Huntingdon fans deflecting my comments in another thread when I suggested that Huntingdon has a ball-security issue. Oh well...I was probably wrong.
  14. Interesting process....good luck to all three teams.... regardless of how the rules are interpreted, may it be that we have the best 4 teams possible moving forward to represent region 6 in the playoffs here in a couple weeks.
  15. Outside of the big showdown between Huntingdon at Wayne Co this coming week, there are some other Region 6 matchups with significant playoff ramifications.... All three of these teams are currently locked in a tie for the #3 seed going into the playoffs. One will secure that seed. One will land in the #4 spot. And one will be finished playing football in just under 2 weeks. HC plays at HRB this week and then hosts CA the final week. HRB will end the season at Huntingdon after hosting HC. CA goes to Perry Co this week before traveling to HC the final week. Seems likely that CA gets the win over PC. It also seems likely that HRB will fall in the final week to Huntingdon. Both of the other two games seem like good matchups where anything is possible. Any opinions on how it will all shake out?
  16. HC did throw the ball a little tonight...still with limited success. PCVikingBcast, you got any stats?
  17. I pretty much agree with this prediction. I could see McEwen scoring once or twice, though--either on WC JV or perhaps on kickoff return. Not a knock on WC's ability to stop them from scoring; I just know that Coach Rice will not leave starters in beyond what's appropriate. #22 is a beast returner, and McEwen won't quit playing hard in garbage time. Plus, McEwen doesn't really have too many JV players to sub in when that time comes.
  18. Anyone from CA who can affirm or deny this?
  19. That's good stuff, PCVikingBcast. Sounds like the PC passing D is a worthy test. Not sure if HC will actually try and take that test. Clearly, we like to run. But maybe. You know, you guys really have faced some stout QBs this year!
  20. I hope these predictions come true! Not sure I see the game being over in the 1st....but I anticipate HC coming out strong and establishing control of the LOS. If that is the case, perhaps this becomes a safe opportunity to incorporate some early game reps on HC's passing game. It only gets better with repetition! And clearly we are woefully un-repetitious in that area Any thoughts on the quality of PC's pass coverage? It's difficult to really see on most of their film because the angle is so tight.
  21. You guys hit the nail on the head. I've retraced as many of your posts as I can easily find, Maximum; and I was wrong to call you out like that. I'm sorry. Thanks for pointing it out. Thanks, wildcat89, for recognizing my error and assuming the best about me. Thanks, Maximum, for giving me the benefit of the doubt and not holding a grudge. Truth is I've been pretty agitated with most of the Huntingdon posters I've run across on here. But I need to be more careful to recognize who is who and not keep reading every post from your part of the world as being rude, sarcastic or otherwise disrespectful. Thanks for your clean, respectful presence on here. I hope mine will prove to be as reputable as yours in the future. Again...sorry I had you wrong. And thanks for the grace.
