Smith County looking for a new Head Coach
Reynard replied to kingofthenorth's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
I heard the same and that he was wanting to schedule "winnable" games, With the right coach, SC has consistently been able to compete with anyone in the area on a regular basis. There's up and down years, but no more or less than most schools. -

With the new region,,,,, East Nash-Maplewood-Stratford and JC,,,the gates were going to probably be smaller than usual. Adding TC and keeping DC/MC/LA is good for everybody. -

I think Maynard left while he was Principle and Lewis was DOS ( his boss ), If I recall right, Smith became DOS maybe 2014. Not positive about that, but close. As far as a coach, I'm not too sure anybody knows much anything other than speculation. Maybe a handful of people would know who has/hadn't interviewed, withdrawn etc.. And I would think they wouldn't talk to anybody much other than potential coaches. Why would they? -

Well, as bad as it hurt me and hate to admit, you do know a little about football and about SC.. Now , anything else you might THINK you know, it would be in everybody's best interest to question you, -

You sure seem to know a lot about Murray, Barry, Gorillas, rugs, cronies, connections, morons, and SC not to have any skin in the game. Y'all don't know how bad I hate to say this ( this is hard to admit) but you may want to pay attention to old SC7. I would say he knows more than anybody on here when it comes to this thread. -

Monday has come and gone. No mention of a new coach yet. A lot of people are assuming that Matt will be the man, I, myself, hope so. -

Assume all you want...Perhaps all you want. 2 stating linemen (not skill positions) went to Gville this year so I highly doubt it was playing time. Why did they leave after 1 year of starting? You have to ask them. I've been on Coach T a lot longer than some know....and it's been my experience in reading between the line,,,as Maury would say ...you are the father. . -

OK then, lets say that's what happened. Now you know, or think you know, So what's the problem? Kids leaving is a huge issue. I don't know what a connected parent is. (but you must not be one) Every Football coach is a bit of a nut.....personality isn't an issue as long as you know when to keep it in check. The only Announcements I heard (don't know if true) about is wanting to schedule RBS-Picket Co. -Tuckers Crossroads and Forks River, Dropping all the money gates like MC/LA/DC to get more wins. So.....if true....all that rolled up together, you answered your own question... -

You are right. As a matter of fact I heard the same thing, when he was hired. I defended his stints at those schools as being difficult schools to coach. I was willing to see what he could do here. Yelp, he's gone regardless of why. Time to hire a football coach.... -

You are right Croz. It wasn't effort on Murry's part, nor wins and losses. When kids are leaving the program or threatening to leave, something is amiss. -

I don't think anybody on this thread knows anything much, except maybe oldSC7, so I would guess that would put you in the same boat as the rest of us wouldn't it?? We don't have the answers and apparently neither do you. We don't know about cronies, rugs and gorillas and ask your knowledge about such things which apparently you do know about...., we are the morons?? I understand now.. -

the entire program is in Shambles? Really? Maybe you need to take a deep breath and think a minute. Maybe, just maybe ...If the program is in shambles, as you say, that may be the reason as to why Murray was let go. Nothing has changed one way or another in the past 3 weeks. So, if the program is in shambles (again as you claim) it didn't get that way AFTER the season ended. If you know where that rug is and what's under it, let's some of us in on what you know. -

What would you call a big school? Consolidation of SC and G-ville would still ne smaller the LA/MC and DC. -

I' wouldn't make a good coach. I'd just walk back and forth poking with a sharp stick looking for a reaction. Some are easier to get to jump than others..... -

Again ( this is getting scary) I agree with oldsc7 and the last 3 post. The southside ( and some north side) have always opposed combining. Ive heard smaller school is better -it gives more kids a chance to play - farther travel to a central located school as few reasons. With a combine school the numbers may still be 3A-4A numbers- There would be many more sports to add - from SC high to Gordonsville is what,,,,5 -6 miles. And more up to date facilities / classrooms instead of adding / rebuilding every few years. I don't know what the cons would be. -

One reason they leave to coach at other places has already been mentioned somewhere on here. Look around at the number of coaches in all 3 sports from Smith County (both schools) They are at Gallatin, Lebanon, SC, Gordonsville, Monterey, Watertown, Hartsville, Oakland, Dekalb, and Cookville. -
