  1. Some thoughts on any Teams/Schools/Staffs that have underperformed during the 2017 season or last couple seasons.
  2. Who wins? Can one region sweep? Probably not.
  3. Who are the top baseball teams and players returning in Rutherford County for the 2017. Siegel has to be the favorite. Who else has a shot and who are the key players and possible new faces who will break out on all the teams?
  4. I know of Master Teague at Blackman, but who are some of the other top players coming back from all the other schools. Or multiple players from there respective schools.
  5. What does everyone think will happen in the upcoming season? With Oakland, Blackman, Riverdale and Siegel on one side and Smyrna, Stewart's Creek and Lavergne on the other side, some interesting cross over games during the season.
  6. Sorry, thought I was putting this on the 1A 2A board
  7. Anyone know of any schools that have completed their 2017 schedules? Some who are close or are still looking.

  9. Anyone know of any schools that have completed their 2017 schedules? Some who are close or are still looking.
  10. Anyone know of any new schedules? Wondering who has filled and who is still looking.
  11. 27 teams in east while 22 in west and a 4 and 5 team region in west. Makes no sense. Someone should have to travel. That is why these regions should only be for 2 years. Get a home and home and then switch it. Plus I am sure the TSSAA will use non region games as a tie breaker. Also makes no sense.
  12. Watch Indy leaving early in most plays. No. 7 who is a dynamic player, is leaning or taking a step on most every play. He is very fast anyway but if referees allow you to leave early or be leaning it is a big advantage. Also there bush league PA announcer who plays music over the loud speakers when you have the ball can be tough to deal with. Independence very good, and well coached, odds on favorite to repeat. But do have some places you can attack. Must avoid big plays, and take care of the ball. They make it hard to do both.
  13. I believe you are wrong. If they all end up 5 and 2 in the standing and 1 beat 2 and 2 beat 3 and 3 beat 1. With no head to head tie breaker scenario, in the TSSAA wonderful tie breaker it will go to non district record. And in that case, Summit and Shelbyville were 2 and 1 and Stewarts Creek was 1 and 2, Summit should be the 2 Shelbyville the 3 and Stewarts Creek the 4. I believe even if the Creek wins one of the final 2 they are the fourth place in the district.
  14. I will add one last thing. No matter what they do, some people will find fault in it. I just believe it would be wrong to have one or two districts of 7, 8 or 9 teams and other districts with only 5 or 6. My point for the non equal classes. Just take the 32 playoff teams. 6A with average enrollment 1800 equals 57600 students and 32 playoff 3a schools of 450 equals 14400 students. I know my numbers are not exact with school sizes But, this is why the larger classes should have less schools than the smaller classes. Have it but be gentle with your comments. Just my thoughts on this topic.
  15. This is all what is wrong with the TSSAA, splitting the claases up equal by number of schools is wrong. The low number of teams in a class should be the 6A schools. I would go with 48, 8 districts of 6 schools each. Does not matter, 4 east and 4 west. Top 4 teams in each make playoffs. Some teams are going to have to travel farther than others. Breaking up some county schools would not be the worst idea. Would be very good non district games. Final thought would be 32 teams in each class for playoffs. See no reason for byes in high school football
  16. 49 to 0. Redhawks played very solid. Good night to get 2's and 3's some solid minutes. Always helps team morale for a blowout win.
  17. What about the Davis kid, he was the qb for Spring City. Where is he in the mix?
  18. Kind of hypocritical don't you think. A player gets kicked out and the school appeals to get him back on the field. Plus, was there not a few fights between coaching staffs and players during scrimmages and nothing was done by the administration. Both only about winning at any cost.
  19. Most have missed my point. Yes I agree that everyone should not make the playoffs and Tennessee does not need to copy Indiana. But it still baffles me that the tie breaker goes with out of region games. Also that some regions have 6 or 7 teams and some have 8 teams. Geographic/distance or not all regions should have equal number of teams. I do believe this should change every 2 years instead of 4 also. That could help some schools who may have to travel. May not also. Suggestion for the Super 32. Make it the top 48 in 6A 8 regions of 6. With top 4 getting in. 5A next 56 or 64, and so on.
  20. I have read the arguments both for and against the Super 32. Not going to get into that because it will not change for another year at least. Read all the way through, you may be surprised with the outcome. My main problem is with the playoff Region Playoff Tie Breakers. If you are going to put teams in a region and say that the top 4 finishers qualify, than only the Region games should be counted. I know of other States that use what they call the 13 point rule to break ties. Here it goes: Only applies to Region games. If you win a game by 13 points you get +13, if you lose by 13 you are at -13. If you win by 5 you are at +5 and again lose by 5 you are -5. If you win by anything above 13 or lose by more than 13 again you can only be +13 or -13. This is a decent enough score that teams can win and not have to beat someone by 40 or 50 points. Yes, get ahead so you can play younger players to gain experience but you do not have to humiliate a team by running the score up. After the 5, 6 or 7 even 8 region games are played you figure each teams 13 point differential. This is the total divided by the number of region games played. Example Team A has a +23 playing 7 region games, their score would be +3.28. This really comes into play when you have the 3 or 4 way tie with teams with identical records, but cannot come up team that has beaten everyone else. It is usually Team A beat B, Team B beat C and Team C beat A. Can even happen with a 4 way tie. When this happens the team with the highest point avg gets the highest playoff spot. If the 3 team are ties for first in the region this team is the champ. Than you would go to head to head with the next 2 teams to find out who is 2nd or 3rd. If it happens with 4 team same thing. Find the top avg, they are in and than if the next 3 teams cannot be decided you go with the next top avg. Would not come into play if a team has beaten the other 2 teams. When it comes down to 2 teams tied it is head to head. Very easy. I did this with Class 5A, Region 5. Independence is the Champ and gets the top spot. Now there are 4 teams tied with 4 and 3 records. Lavergne would have received the 2nd spot because their 13 point avg is the best of the tied 4 teams at +3.28. Now you have 3 teams still tied Lincoln Co. gets the 3rd spot 2 ways, their 13 point avg is better than Shelbyville and Stewarts Creek and also because they beat both . Now it comes down to Shelbyville and Stewarts Creek. Stewarts Creek beat Shelbyville in head to head so Stewarts Creek grabs the 4th spot. This is not the way the current tie breaker is set up. It goes to overall record. Very poor planning on the TSSAA. Teams no matter what class need to play closer teams or rivals. That is fine but for the TSSAA to put teams in a region and than go outside the region to decide the playoffs is wrong in my opinion. The procedure of the 13 point rule is simple not complex. Unlike the Z plan when you had to figure if a team beat an above .500 team or not gets very confusing. Region 5 under the current tie breaker system has Independence #1, Lincoln Co. #2, Shelbyville #3 and Lavergne #4. With the 13 point rule it would have been Indy with the #1; +13, Lavergne at #2; +3.28, Lincoln Co. at #3; +3.14 and Stewarts Creek at #4; +1.85 and Shelbyville out at #5 with a +1.14. Just some helpful advice for the TSSAA. This could go into place for next year, no problem and the argument of playing down or up against teams that are having a bad year or are not very good is thrown out. Will wait for the comments to follow. Wishing all the teams great success and let the playoffs begin. Thank you for reading!
  21. With 2 weeks remaining and playoff implication games galore, this has been an interesting and exciting region to say the least. Wild games, comebacks, beat downs and suprises, this region you just never know. High school football, you just gotta love it, Here is how I predict it will play out. Indy goes 2 and 0 to finish 1st, The Creek also goes 2 and 0 to finish 2nd, Shelbyville also goes 2 and 0 to wind up 3rd. Lavergne goes 1 and 1 but gets in at the 4th spot. Summit goes 1 and 1 but just out, Lincoln Co. tough stretch to end with but goes 0 and 2 and is out. Franklin Co. 0 and 2, Columbia also 0 and 2. Now to really get ahead of ourselves, they could all go the other way but I beleive Region 5 goes 3 for 4 or sweeps Region 6 in the 1st round. Lavergne at the 4th spot could be a very tough assignment.
