  1. May sound crazy but if I’m Bartlett, I’m rooting for Whitehaven tonight. East lacks guard play and no longer have twin towers, so let Wiseman get his and clamp down on anyone else. Houston was just not up to it. Guard play wasn’t solid at all. I'm really curious if Southwind lost to avoid East because I don’t see how they lost to Houston. I know games happen but dang. Maybe it was southwind's night Tuesday. But back to my original statement, Bartlett has stronger guard play than East and it will be the best advantage to have. And for selfish reasons i hope this is the matchup also for myself to have a chance of seeing Bartlett Whitehaven in the final bc I'll be out of the country and miss the sub state games lol.
  2. i agree with the 3. Manassas should roll, as they have done all year. Woodale and Mitchell will be tight but the Lawson clan will be the difference. And East is without Malcolm and possibly Merriwether. Wiseman will have 30 and 15 but if Matthew is aggressive from the start attacking the rim, he could get wiseman in foul trouble early.
  3. Matt is everything i said he would be for whitehaven. years ago.

called it years ago that Murrell would be special. If he's ever put into the role that he has to score and get the killer mentality to his game, he will end up a top 50 guy. He's so efficient right now, of course he makes the highflying acrobatic plays but his none dunk plays are typically very smart baskets and never rushed. Right now he's the kinda guy that can score 20 off of 9 shots and a few trips to the line. He even did the same on the circuit this year when switching over to team thad in late july. He was typically the 4/5th option but would still find himself at the top of the box score taking half as many shots as the key guys (kyky tandy, dj jeffries). If phillips ever demands 20 attempts a night from him, it will be scary. Like a baby malik monk type of scary.
  6. Olive Branch is in the state championship game. Whitehaven has Cameron Jones back, I'll say he's about 80% healthy but still will get thrashed if they were to beat East. AA is tough bc Memphis has never had a team with steady talent and a suitable area to produce it until the reclassification. They now have Mitchell, Hamilton, Melrose, & Raleigh Egypt. Hamilton has the talent now but they are senior heavy but I expect Melrose and Mitchell to rise in the next 2 years due to coaches. But if the GSW East High thing is nearing its end, AA should welcome the Lawsons back to Hamilton for the next 3 years. But East will be fine, they will press, they will steal, they will dunk, and they will piss you off.
  7. Tubby: Outstanding coach, classy guy, but not built for this job. The guy literally got up on the podium within a week of having the job and said that fans should lower their expectations bc the program isn't as good as we think it is and he would not play the games that it takes to get the top talent. On the other hand, i know there is a lot of rumbling on social media about fans disapproval for tubby's inability to secure guys like Lomax Harris and other Memphis kids better than his recruits, but if penny takes over this job there essentially won't be room for all Memphis talent. He has shown a knack for already flying-in out of town talent to compete on the national talent on the AAU level He flew in guys like John Petty, PJ Washington, and Dennis Smith Jr in the last 3 years, so it's not as if the Team Penny organization is only Memphis kids when they are winning but the teams are definitely built around the Memphis guys. There may be room for some of these guys now but not for long unless they are willing to be 4 year role players who are phenomenal seniors. For instance if this hire is being made in 2016, there would've never been complaints from fans about not signing William Douglas in 2017 because a kid like that might not be a good fit for Penny's depth especially seeing that he couldn't fit well with Penny's AAU organization due to the depth. All in all i would love to see penny as the coach with successful x&o assistants backing him along with Tony Madlock in some role. And as far as Tubby goes, enjoy your $10M retirement gift.
  8. Would be happy for both the tigers and AAA ball. Tiger brand will get what they deserve from a fan enthusiasm, recruiting, and talent perspective and AAA disperses the players back to the schools were they belong and even the playing field in Memphis (not for the rest of the state lol).

Douglas Hamilton and East winning it all. Shelby county trifecta! Got faith in Whitehaven beating Bartlett and making it to the boro also for a good experience for a young team and veteran coach. The tigers will be there for the next 3 years, but idk if they will make it to the championship this year.
  10. nothing wrong with it. the little general knew he didnt have the horses to run with hamilton and was reminded several times this year, so why not switch it up? East TN schools do it to us all the time, and we dont gripe, i dont see the problem.
  11. Holding the ball is just fine and dandy until a memphis team (playing another memphis team) does it! Ive seen so many teams outside of the midsouth sit back and wait on the memphis team get out of the zone and never heard a problem before. The better team won, it doesnt matter.

Hard to say in the state bc i havent seen everyone, but he's up there top 3-5 i bet. I think i could give him the AAA nod for the area sure. Hubie Smith is a great one too. He was forever successful before Darius Garland back in his Bartlett days. But coach phillips is most definitely in the convo, 2 peat at mitchell and now doing excellent in his third year at whitehaven. Only lost to 3 teams this year Brentwood Briarcrest and East all favorites to make it to the state championship game.

So happy for those kids, wish Matthew and especially cam jones were apart of the victory but i know they are happy for their teammates. Been speaking good things of the 2020 class for whitehaven for a few years now and i think we will see it come into play now. I think cordova is a more manageable game than i thought southwind wouldve been bc of cordova not having a 6'7/8 big.

Gonna be a tough call for Whitehaven to upset Southwind with Freeman playing so well and Murrell and Jones being out. Wouldn't shock if Faragi pulls it off tho.

Impressed with Whitehaven so far. I think they also had a case of not getting up for the (Tuesday vs BCS) next game after Saturday’s big win against Huntington Prep. I've seen it too many times (especially CBHS over the last 6 years) when the public schools face private schools and get off to slow starts and don’t show the same fire underneath them as they would facing a divisional/regional foe. Not taking anything away from Briarcrest by saying that and I actually think they have a legit chance of stopping the BA 4peat, Ced Jr is balling and could benefit from a year of prep school to put him on the radar also Kennedy Chandler will be nice for 2021. Speaking of Brentwood Academy, I think this is the first year that Garland's supporting cast is not decent enough for him to carry them past just about any opponent and their 3 early loses shows that (which is the tied for the most loses that BA has had in a season during the Garland Era). Back to Whitehaven, I spoke up the talented incoming 2020 class that they were getting nearly 2 years ago although I expected Cameron Matthews (OB) to be part of it due to coaching ties. Matthew Murrell is a budding star with God given athleticism at a young age. Alvin is an extremely talented small guard and will be overlooked for his career but will find a way to play on the next level similar to Phillip’s old Naba Echols. Cam Jones is good when he doesn’t want to be the hero, it’s fun to see him play team oriented ball at times and I do not think he understands how much it opens up the floor for him when he does so (check the 23 against Huntington he was unselfish that day). If the weather permits, I won’t be shocked if they give East #4 tomorrow night at home. Speaking of East, #4 can definitely happen tomorrow night I felt that way after seeing them lose two last weekend and felt that way even more after seeing them win Tuesday by 40 against Whitehaven. How could I possibly feel that way after doubling the opponents team? Because both the Lawson’s weren’t dressed out at all, which is not a surprise if you saw the exchange of words Saturday night between Robert Jackson and Keelon Lawson. Supposedly they are going back to Hamilton, but a rumor doesn’t matter until its verified. East is still talented without them but the team will only have 8 players left that they actually play and maybe 7 because Jalen Brown would leave too IMO because he is their first cousin. Call it East hate all you want but anyone can see that they are missing guard play this year and Moss’s departure is felt, outside of Lomax they don’t have any true dependable guards. It will be interesting to see how the year turns out.
  17. So does anyone know if Boyce and Wiseman are eligible? East losing Moss doesnt hurt them talent wise bc those freshman are scary good. Congrats to ALO by the way, really happy for the kid. I thought Bruce guy was going to TPA but ive seen him practicing with Cordova along with transfer - one of the bouncy bigs that went to Ridgeway last year, so tyler isnt as lonely as many assumed he would be over there. Southwind may somewhat fill a void with adding Mark Johnson so I would expect Edward's group to compete and be good as usual. Whitehaven will be better hopefully, Matthew Murrell will be the star of that team he has a grit that Cameron Jones just doesnt have even as a senior. Dont be surprised if Murrell is a top 40 player when its all said and done. Overall, the race for the #2 spot in Regioin 8 AAA should be interesting.
  18. They could honestly lose half the team and still 3peat. its alot of young talent in the state now, especially the 901 area and Idk if they are ready to step up just yet. Lomax, Dandridge and both Lawsons could get it done by themselves if they had to imo.
  19. TJ Moss just announced on espn radio that he's going to Findlay Prep. Well really his dad announced it lol
  20. Freshman Jalen Brown, Chandler Lawson and Kennedy Chandler will be the only new faces on the floor regularly. Senior Ryan Boyce transferred over from Houston, pending transfer eligibility that adds another top 150 player added to an overpowered team.
  21. The only page I know of is the major prep sports group but i think you have to ask for permission before posting
  22. Not really. Most orgs use their social media platforms to post those, i've even seen previous players posting information for tryouts also. Twitter and Facebook have been the most informative imo.
