  1. Teams will not want to play Maplewood in the tournament. They are the 3 seed in 10AA. I watched them handle East Nashville Friday. 10AA is good athletic district, Maplewood has 2nd biggest team in AA (behind Westview) who is putting it together as of late. They lost to PC by 3 & 7, lost to East by 20+ and beat them Friday by 4 or 5 (if I can recall). They have a 6'3 - 6'2 - 6'4 -6''2 THAT START! They are long and athletic team that plays hard, defend well, and alter game plans. Be on the lookout for this team in the post season.
  2. They have the worst district in the state of Tennessee... But, they are FOR REAL! 4 of their 5 starters will play college basketball. This team is good. Hambrick is a transfer for CPA, Disumukes transfer form MLK or Hume Fogg (not 100%) sure, Miller transfer from Ezell Harding, and they have another transfer from Ensworth that can all play. I heard they only play two quarters - 1st & 3rd. Should make it to Murfreesboro, not sure if they can win it
  3. Coaches keep players in during blowouts for accolades, I'm sorry but it's the truth. There's no way a child is on a undefeated top ranked team and averages almost 30 points, without playing garbage time minutes for numbers for these type of awards. Let's be honest. I blame the integrity of the coaches and not the players or the opponents.
  4. Levy, Lamb, and Upton. Here's why: (In my opinon) Levy (25.3 ppg) is the best player in AA without a question. The only person that I've seen, that can keep up with Levy & outplay her is Upton (19.8ppg) from East. Let's not forget that Upton was the AA TSSAA MVP over Upperman's Levy in 2016, but did not play last year due season ending knee injury. Lamb (19.0ppg) has the awards and all accolades for a Miss Basketball finalist, but all that was in Single A where the competition is very weak. She's still deserving and has the numbers to prove it in Class AA. We also need to take in consideration that all three potential finalist Levy, Lamb, and Upton have a TSSAA State MVP award and State Championship while playing on teams currently ranked in the AP Class AA Top 10. Just my personal opinion.
  5. With the tournament around the corner I still believe that AA is wide open. Westview is favored, but no one has an answer for Upperman's leader Levy. Cumberland County, South Greene, and East Nashville can still hoist the trophy at the Murphy Center as well. Pearl Cohn (2017 runners-up) didn't make this list but they do have to Division 1 players in Shaw and Chambers that both average 20+ points per game, that will serve as a matchup problem for anyone on this list. At this time of the year it's about having a group of girls with big game experiences, and teams that won't fold under pressure. Records mean nothing! New AP Top 10 1. Upperman 2. Westview 3. Cumberland County 4. South Greene 5. Cheatham Co. 6. Macon Co. 7. Dyersburg 8. Northview Acad. 9. East Nashville 10. Meigs County
  6. What's going on with Memphis Central? After watching them play Riverdale, I figured they'll be the favorite to win it all. To be at 10 is surprising
  7. Newly released 2018 AA Top 10 (via Twitter :@tlownsdale) 1. Upperman (6th overall) 2. Cumberland County (8th overall) 3. South Greene (9th overall) 4. Martin Westview (11th overall) 5. Macon County 6. East Nashville 7. Pearl Cohn 8. Dyersburg 9. Graiger 10. Meigs County Thoughts or concerns about this newly released AA Top 10?
  8. Watching Memphis East on ESPN. They'll beat a lot of college teams in TN.
  9. None of these teams you mentioned are Top 25 teams outside of Clarkrange (maybe)
  10. I'd agree. Although, I went to see Pearl Cohn and East Nashville game last week. (Huge Rivalry) Pearl had East down 20+ half way through the 3rd quarter. Pearl blew a lead (which they tend to do often) to lose 61-60. Pearl probably has two of the best players in ALL classes with Shaw and Chambers and could beat any of these top 5 teams when those two get going. The downfall is that their supporting cast isn't very good. Which will hurt them. South Greene, Upperman, Westview, Cumberland Co. strength of schedule isn't very intriguing. Mainly due to their location and district play. I would just like to see "good teams" play tougher opponents early in the season, instead of small county schools. (Just my opinion) However, I do believe that Pearl Cohn can be up there with the tops of these Top 5 teams. I do like the list!
  11. Cheatham is always a problem until they play East or Pearl Cohn in the region. They have a great group of players and great coach. Can they get over that hurdle this season? East and Pearl are both struggling early. This just may be the year!
  12. Hold your horses! I heard both East Nashville and Pearl Cohn lost last night. East Nashville to Franklin and Pearl-Cohn to Rossview. Both teams struggling and looking for production from other. I'm sure all the hype & pressure coming into the season has an effect on some of the other players not use to playing as much! I know it's still early and things may turn around, but....
  13. Cane Ridge has talent. I believe they have at least 5-6 transfers. They do lack post play, which will eventually hurt them in AAA.
  14. South Greene has dominated Single A the past two season, but AA teams are a lot more faster and athletic than any Single A opponents. I'm not sure of the quality in their district and region. Lamb will have a smooth transition. Will South Greene's style of play translate to make a deep run in AA? Cumberland County has a well coached team and shooters all over the floor. Going down a classification will help the make it to Murfreesboro. Not to many teams stand a chance playing Riverdale at Riverdale. I do believe that AAA experience will help C.C. get to the Murphy Center in March. Should be any interesting season!
  15. With the season around the corner, who are some of the top teams in AAA? Here's my personal top 5 1.) Riverdale - No surprise here - Ending as the #1 in the nation the Lady Warriors are well equip for a 3-Peat with the Haynes , Whittington sisters, and Vandy signee Alexander. They're simple better than anyone else. Can they be knocked off? 2.) Memphis Central - With a lot of the returning cast and a great TSSAA state run, Central will be hungry for another chance at the title lead by Jireh Washington & her young and talented team 3.) Oak Ridge - This East Tennessee team is a force to be dealt with, they have all the pieces in place to have a successful season. They also have great players in Dowdell & Guinn who will both toss up big numbers this season. 4.) Houston - Jayla Hemingway is one of the best players in the state and will lead her team to Murfreesboro in March. 5.) Cane Ridge - This will be a 'surprise team' that many people don't know much about. They have a brand new team and a lot of transfers that will have a instant impact. Kendeni Hambrick from CPA is now eligible to play after transferring. Should be an intriguing group to watch. Anymore AAA teams that we should keep an eye out on this season?
  16. With the season around the corner - Who are some of the top teams in Class AA? Here's my personal top 5 teams 1.) Westview - 2 consecutive TSSAA state appearances, this should be the year for Graves & Jones to make a deeper run to a title. 2.) East Nashville - 2016 State Champs - 2017 Final 4: Returning 3 out of 5 starters & the return of 2016 TSSAA MVP Kia Upton & East should make a run. 3.) South Side (Jackson) - Undefeated until the state tournament first round exit and key loses, S.S. is still a dangerous group lead by Quanarira Miller. 4.) Pearl-Cohn - 2017 runner-up, loss 3 starters, but still have an explosive 1-2 punch with Shaw and Chambers. 5.) Upperman - Lost a lot, returning two starters. Levy is still the best player in AA, could she repeat last years success with a young supporting cast that lack playing experience. If anyone can do it, she can. Any other teams we should be on the lookout for this season?
  17. Kia Upton of East Nashville should be in the running for 2A along with Levy. She's the front runner for a repeat
  18. Based on the information that was giving during the Miss Basketball presentation it was based "regular season" stats. Levy dominated the tournament without a doubt! I agree with you on the position part!
  19. BCS is defiantly football. Power Conferences is more appropriate for basketball. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have these big offers everyone is talking about. Don't know to many kids that turn down offers from big time schools to attend mid-majors. She's a GREAT player, better than WKU in my opinion.
  20. Haynes-Overton has a gold ball as well and had a better season statically than the Miss Basketball, not totally understanding your logic Crow.
  21. Levy and Haynes are not on the same level. Haynes is a better player on both ends of the floor. Levy's a good player but not on that level. She's mid-major for a reason.
  22. Upton, last years state MVP killed Levy last state tournament. Her being out this season was a huge blow for East's chance to repeat. I would've loved to see them go head to head again. Maybe next year.
  23. Levy was in BEAST MODE! All tournament. The girls has game!
