  1. There is so much White on White crime in middle and East TN I'm surprised that they still allow people with pick up trucks, gun racks and confederate flags to still come to HS football games. I literally fear for our safety every time we go east of Jackson.

How ironic, everyone living east of Jackson wishes we could annex Jackson  west to the Mississippi river to MS or AR.

  2. Out of 160 known chapters in the US 8 of them are in TN. 5 are located in Middle TN 1 in Memphis and 2 in East TN. #Facts

Per Lawstreetmedia.com: "According to the most recent crime data from the FBI, which covers the 2014 calendar year, the Memphis, TN-MS-AR metro area had the highest violent crime rate in both the south and the entire United States for the second year in a row. The Memphis metro area had approximately 1034 violent crimes per 100,000 people."

    https://lawstreetmedia.com/blogs/crime/crime-america-2016-slideshow-top-15-dangerous-metro-areas/

I would venture to say that the total membership of these 8 klan chapters do not come close to gang membership in a couple pubic high schools in the Memphis school system.

  3. Didn't want you to wait too long. Check out the Mid TN big three coachT schedules and you'll see Trezvant, Maplewood, Peal Cohn, RE, Stratford, Hillsboro, JCM, etc... Some were played away AND many of those schools traveled to play without getting a return game at home. Wow!!!!

You should do a little prep work before making baseless claims of race being the issue.

The truth is that if you guys are wanting so badly to play the best teams in the state then traveling may be the only option. But, as we have all seen, you, like many weak minded folks, want to pout and whine about the inequities YOU see when the solution is easy.

You see race in everything first, as evidenced by your posting history, whereas reasonable folks try to look at a broader scope. It must be tough being you with all that anger and frustration built up? You obviously fail to realize how wonderfully alike we all are in so many ways.

Now, since I've answered your question tell the T why the local schools don't play you guys? I'm giddy with anticipation for your response. Lol

    Mic drop!

  4. Work:

There were some BA folk who came into a thread and swore up and down that their coaches called Whitehaven and asked for a game and we refused. I don't know about that. If you read the coach's comments he said ... "It's football, let's play!" Does that sound like somebody trying to duck a team?

I'm not going to elaborate on here ... but there is another factor that is come into play. I'll put it like this. We can get a game with BA, or CBHS, or any other large private school. The problem with that is this ... THEY AREN'T WILLING to come to Whitehaven the next season. Why on earth does Whitehaven always have to come to the other team's field? Why can't they return the favor?

    Because it's Memphis.

  5. Here is what I am thinking after having watched every state title match and almost all the top teams in all classes this past season....combined with the K2 and Alliance rosters for this travel season.

Knoxville was better than Nashville and Memphis last year...overall. But the senior class in Knoxville was much more talented than their junior class. This is reflected in the K2 teams. Most if not all the really talented juniors are playing on one of the two 18s teams. Essentially a 181a and 181b. But there are only seven of them. Their sole 17 team seems to be more developmental. The K2 161s are loaded. Of those juniors/ rising seniors playing in the 18s, two are Webb girls, two Hardin Valley, one Heritage, one AC, and one Berean Christian. The 161s have three Farragut girls and a smattering of players spread out across a lot of schools. I didn't look at the 15s but I am sure they are talented too like the 16s. Point being, there isn't going to be as much senior talent next year as in the past. The school that looks to take the biggest hit is Farragut followed by Maryville. Catholic is in trouble regardless of where they have to play. Cieslek and Gardner were the entire team. They're gone.

Memphis is not completely dead. Briarcrest and St.Georges will be forces next year. I don't know much about their club scene except that Metro and the Memphis Juniors seem to split the talent. Houston does have some players but outside of that the public schools are DOA come post season.

Nashville has a very strong group of high school juniors. The rising senior class is talented and tall but doesn't have the depth of the junior or sophomore class for that matter. In terms of club, what is interesting is that Alliance has a 6' plus setter on each of their ones teams from 15s thru 18s. The talent is spread out among the Wilco schools but some of the neighboring counties are getting girls on top teams. Not just Siegal girls either. Brentwood is well represented of course. So is Ravenwood. And so is Page.

Here's how I see next season going based on the returning talent:

    AAA: Brentwood over Hardin Valley

      -keep an eye on Heritage

AA: Signal Mountain over Hume Fogg

      - keep an eye on Camden Central

A: South Greene over everyone else

    D2AA: Briarcrest over Brentwood Academy

keep an eye on Baylor. But losing GG is huge

    D2A: Webb over St. George's

I was at the K2 Elite Invitational this past weekend and watched K2 and Alliance play each other in the 13 and 14 y/o bracket.  The 14's dominated 25-11, 25-19.  The 13's won the championship game against K2 25-17, 25-20.  These were the only two teams Alliance sent and they both won Championships.  Based off these two early season games, Alliance has put some space between them and K2 in regards to talent in these two age groups (rising freshman and 8th graders).  I would say 80+% of these girls are Williamson county with Brentwood having the majority represented.

  6. Not difficult to pinpoint the idiots in this thread. My goodness. This is a football board. Take the racism whining elsewhere. We see enough of that crap on the news. It's almost 2017. I would like to read updates on the MHS HC search, not whining about the rebel flag.

Can we talk about the recruiting and tuition players pay instead?  That alone should have the Rebels in the private school division.

  7. The rebel flag has come to be widely seen as a symbol of southern pride and culture. As I said earlier, symbols only have meaning if we attach meaning to them. Furthermore, those meanings can change. The state of Tennessee is a southern state and is more culturally aligned with the other southern states than the rest of the country. And yes, a lot of Tennesseans were against secession but when push came to shove the state sided with the other southern states. It cannot be denied that the flag has been used by certain people and movements for evil purposes. It also cannot be denied that the flag also has a very positive meaning for many people. I've known a few black people who even like it.

Please explain the "positive meaning" of the flag for some people?

  8. KWC,

I am a white guy and I worked an event in Knoxville with a black guy. We hit it off right away and laughed and joked like it was going out of style. At some point, another guy brought up the topic of the rebel flag and the black guy quickly said "I could never be friends with somebody who likes the rebel flag as a symbol". At which point I said "So you wouldnt be friends with me if I had a rebel flag bumper sticker on my truck even though we have a lot in common and get along very well?" He was silent for a long time and finally said "no". I didnt feel any ill will towards him for saying that, but I was disappointed that he would let something that seemed so trivial to me get in the way of friendship. When it comes to symbols like the rebel flag it's important to remember that symbols only have meaning if we attach meaning to them.

It obviously has some deeper meaning to you, you attached the rebel flag to you bumper to show everyone.

  9. The new alignment did no favors to anybody in AAA except for Williamson county schools.  The way I see it, this realignment has opened the door to a 3rd WilCo team to be in Murfreesboro come State time.  Brentwood was going to win the district for the next 4-5 years and probably state too.  This will now allow 2 more teams in from WilCo; Franklin, Ravenwood, Centennial, and others have to be excited about this.  WilCo easily has the deepest talent in the state year in and year out.

  10. GQ & GR, one word sums it up. WINNERS. Now you can dice it up any way you want too but both men are winners. You can say GQ does this or GR is this. Bottom line is this...they both have a style that works and will not give in to please anyone. I only know what I see when I watch games, I don't know how they communicate with there players and media. There are a bunch of different ways to win and they have 2 proven plans. Don't think either has ever been in trouble with the T$$AA either.

Recruiting violations are hard to receive when your schools have open borders like Mexico.  Lets make Tennessee football great again and play for the school your bus takes you to.

  11. Knoxville will lose a lot of players. Farragut, HV, Webb, Catholic, Maryville lose all of their top tier players. Only Anderson County, of the stronger teams, had no seniors, and they move back to AA.

Watch for Heritage to challenge in AAA, Webb, for the first time, will have competition in that several public schools are now private. Should see knew faces next year.

Might be some new faces, but there will be a familiar one in AAA for the next 3, possibly 5 years at least.  Go Bruins.

  12. Congratulations to all the state champions.   After everything was said and done, the teams everyone expected to win, won.  Brentwood will be in the finals again next year.  Does Farragut have the players to replace what they're loosing.  Can Hardin Valley take that next step?  Webb is loosing some huge players, how will they be?  Goodpasture for 6 in a row?

  13. What about AA, A and privates? Take Brentwood out of the mix and Knoxville has better volleyball.

You can't take the most dominant program in Tennessee out of the mix just to fit your comment.  Also, all due respect to the A and AA programs, you could make an all star team together from those divisions and still not beat the Lady Bruins in the next 3 years.  Brentwood has also beaten the top private school in the state this year.  Your argument has zero facts.

  14. I didn't predict a win, just that they will meet in the finals. I will also say this, Knoxville has the best volleyball in the state.

Last I checked, the state championship for the big girls league has resided in Middle Tennessee for the past decade with the exception of one year.  That will not change for the next 4-5 years with the talent in middle Tennessee, especially Brentwood who will reload for the next 6-7 years with the talent in their system.  And good luck to Farragut, they'll be beaten in straight sets in the second round when they face the Lady Bruins.

  15. Knoxville volleyball is doing great! This season I would rank the teams as follows:

1)Farragut. Should meet Brentwood in the finals.

    Tie 2)Webb. State champion lock.

    Catholic. State champion lock.

Tie 3)Anderson County really young but good

Hardin Valley injuries slowed them down

Oak Ridge great player, tough defensive team

4)Maryville. Most talent in area but way underperformed.

5)Heritage. A lot of talent, dad coaching exposed.

    6)CAK. Solid team.

    Tie 7)Concord

    Berean

    King

Which teams will be strong next year? I know a lot of teams are senior heavy!

Farragut will be lucky to win a set against Brentwood.  Book it!

  16. How are everyone's predictions looking so far?  Brentwood looks as strong as ever so that's not good for other teams in the state.  With the majority of that team being sophomores and Brentwood Middle school team just finished their season with a  23-0 record (they did not lose a set all season), the lady Bruins will be a powerhouse for at least 6 more years with whats in their system.

  17. look folks, K2 get's on here every year and makes a ridiculous prediction about a Knoxville AAA team winning the state and having the best talent in the state with the best coach in the state.  Then she takes shots at other Knoxville coaches and programs.    Then at the end of the year when Bearden, Karns, Farragut or any other team loses to Ravenwood/Brentwood or DB a few years ago she disappears.  I would love nothing more than Maryville to win the state, but let's pump the breaks a little.  I've seen every State Champion in the last 20 years and this Brentwood team is loaded.  BTW, the Ravenwood team from a few years ago is the best TN high school team I have seen.

Brentwood will start 6 players who will play college volleyball, 5 will be D1 players.  1 is arguable the top sophomore in the country.....USA Volleyball says she's at least top 12.  They are loaded.
