  1. Congrats on your victory. We just couldn't get that other hit when we needed. Hopefully we can pull the split with you guys.
  2. Well I haven't said anything about him being my son as I want people to feel free to say what they will about the team or him if it comes up. Yea, we are gonna be a real dark horse, like finish at the bottom, if we don't start playing defense every game. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I expect our offense to improve as the year goes and defense too as we have really been hampered by a lack of practice due to a lack of facilities. There will be a nice field to play on next year but not this year. Two years in a row with no home field. Good luck the rest of the way. He will be a really good pitcher for ya'll by the time he is a senior. 7 innings is a long outing for anyone.
  3. Yea, our defense failed us last night. The kid who pitched did his job and your defense made enough plays to win the game. Hopefully our youth learned a lesson about having to bring it every game last night. We have Bruceton next in the district who you guys got? I appreciate the compliment about the team. Man wasn't the wind blowing hard last night? Geesh. I knew you guys would have someone I just didn't know who it would be. Wins and losses don't always tell the story on how a guy pitches.
  4. Who is pitching besides the Hatch kid?
  5. Well we lost two to Gibson County sat. We should have won the 1st one but just couldn't get that other hit to seal the deal. 2nd game we lost pretty bad. An all around loss. District starts today with West Carroll. Hopefully we come out of the gate hot.
  6. Congrats! Good luck today. That just shows the district may be up for grabs more than usual like we thought. You guys guys may waltz through the district this year. We start district next week with West Carroll. We tied with Dresden yesterday in 7 due to darkness. Could have won but didn't. Supposed to have two with Gibson County tomorrow if we can find a field.
  7. We managed to win a game fri night. We beat Crockett 2-0. Played error free ball, didn't hit well but won. 2nd game we lost to Liberty by 10 in 5 or 6, but the score didn't tell the story. We pitched well enough to have a chance but we made error after error. No excuses, just young kids that lost their concentration in the second game. Sat game at TCA got rained out of course. I think we have Bradford and Dresden next. The freshman are doing ok. I expect about 3 of them to play a lot, and I expect them to have their moments but I also expect them to play like freshman too. Our key will be getting our upperclassmen bats up to speed and finding our 3rd and 4th pitcher. I think I know who they are but I think one of them is better served as a reliever as opposed to a starter. Just hoping we get most of the kinks out before district play.
  8. Like I said in an above post we didn't look bad at Riverside. We didn't win but we didn't look bad all things considered. We dropped two bad games to Humboldt and Northside wed night. Did not play well in either game. We are better defensively and have picked up a couple more bats in the lineup. The key will be getting the basketball players back in the groove both pitching and hitting. Once that happens I think we will be competitive. Our pitching will be light, but I think we have 2 or 3 guys after our two main starters that can come in and throw strikes anyway. Right now all these games are just basically our practices due to lack of completed facilities and basketball season. I think, barring injuries, we will be getting better as the district gets started and hopefully be playing our best at the end. Time will tell. We play Crockett County and Halls tonight if the field can be played on. We play TCA Sat.
  9. Could be. You guys lost a lot but I don't know who you have stepping up. I look forward to the games. Well after playing Riverside twice this week I will say they have a pretty good team. How good in their district I don't know but they will not be an easy game for anyone they play typically. We, Clarksburg, didn't play bad but our lack of practice showed up at the plate especially. We have had only one scrimmage prior to mon and tues games and maybe 1 practice on the field, so we haven't seen hardly any live pitching. We are better than last year I think but how much remains to be seen. We are still pretty young but we have more options than last year. Our big question will be pitching I think. I have hopes but only time will tell.
  10. Well after playing Riverside twice this week I will say they have a pretty good team. How good in their district I don't know but they will not be an easy game for anyone they play typically. Congrats to them on the two wins. I was really impressed with the Fisher kid. We, Clarksburg, didn't play bad but our lack of practice showed up at the plate especially. We have had only one scrimmage prior to mon and tues games and maybe 1 practice on the field, so we haven't seen hardly any live pitching. We are better than last year I think but how much remains to be seen.
  11. Congrats to Big Sandy on winning the 13A title. It was a heck of a game last night. With 3 min to go I didn't think WC could get back in it. They did but you guys recovered in OT to win. Hopefully you guys can win a region game. If your PG had been on last night you all would have beat WC handily I think. Anyway I am glad you guys won instead of WC. We weren't as talented this year and didn't play as well together as we should have. Well we had fun playing these past two years and have just one game left before concentrating on baseball. Maybe we can beat y'all in baseball this year. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Pretty good summation except he isn't that tall. He is 5'10" at most. My kid is 6'1" at best and he is 2 or 3 inches shorter than him. When we played them, at their place, there was a NAIA college from KY looking at him.
  13. What constitutes a lot of homeruns in HS baseball? Is 10 a lot? Is it 15? You are a power hitter when you hit ______ home runs.
  14. They are the favs to finish 1,2 but there is no guarantee they will. They should but the two of the three teams left are capable on a given night to beat them. BS beat WC and Hunt beat BS and we beat Hunt twice. Hunt will be much better next year. If I were a betting man I would bet on WC being 1 and BS being 2 though.
  15. Question about rules. On a dead ball out of bounds, can the inbounding team pass the ball to another teammate out of bounds and then him inbound the ball?
  16. Is that you terry? /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  17. There are a couple threads about different teams in the district started but I thought I would start one for the whole district. Leave your thoughts as to what you think about the teams and how they will finish or anything related. I know that the top two teams lost a lot of starters from last year so if anyone is going to unseat one of them this may be the year to do it. No disrespect meant to the returning players of those teams, there is just not a lot of returning experience. of course that may not matter. I say your are still the champ til someone beats you.
  18. Well we finish the season at Mckenzie and according to what I am hearing they will also be our opening round game of the district tourney. So we have to play them back to back. I assume they have improved from the first of the year. I know they have the tall guy but their issue early was ball handling. If so they will be a much tougher game. I assume it has improved.
  19. Greer is good and may turn out to be real good. His weakness is his build. If he faces anyone near his size with quickness he can't get around his game will struggle just like anyone else. His strength is he is really quick for a guy his height, well at the high school level anyway. In college that will be mitigated. I think I actually like the kid from madison better as he can shoot about as well and handles about as well but he is a much better passer. Greer probably has more upside than that kid though.
  20. As expected we beat CA last night. I didn't know it was coming, but McClerking for Clarksburg scored his 1,000th point last night. Larue became the leading single season scorer for CA. Nice tidbits to an otherwise blowout game. Found out after the game there was a college scout looking at the Larue kid. Good for him.
  21. Regarding the issue with the scotts hill principal and the game, if that truly is why the game is not being played. Knowing norton there is not much telling why. If you are fighting against him to get the game played you will have to go over his head if he has decided he doesn't want it played. He is a hard person to get along with if you don't agree with him. Only way scotts hill has a football team is because the parents got together and threatened to go over his head if he didn't back it. He got up and sold it to the school board like he was for it all the way. That is what you are dealing with if he truly is the hold up in playing ya'lls game.
  22. Well we came from behind and got a win at Madison last night. Fell behind by nearly 20 in the 2nd quarter but cut it to 14 at the half and was down by 6 or so at the end of 3. Won 61-59. I thought it was over at the half but they fought hard and came back to win. They have a really good player though.
  23. Congrats on the w. They had managed topull out some close games but it finally caught up with them. We managed to beat Hunt fri night. We led by 13 I think at the half but we didn't play as well in the second half. Too many turnovers. Give Hunt credit they didn't quit and played hard. We go to madison tonight and then finish with CA and Mck. before the tourney. Hoping for the best in the tourney but looking forward to baseball now. Can't wait to hear the ping of the bats. How is BS looking in baseball this year? I know last year was tough but looked like a really young team.
  24. Congrats to Big Sandy on the W. Both of you are at the top of the district and should be. After watching us play you both twice I think the best way to defend WC is just not worry with Greer. Let him have his points and concentrate on defending the other two main scorers and getting good rebounding position. When you collapse on Greer you open up the rebounding for the other players. That is what killed us as much as anything. You also keep your guys out of foul trouble too. For BS I think the key is frustrate the PG early and keep him from getting in a rhythm. Let the other guy have his but keep the ball away from the PG as much as possible and make him work hard to just get the ball. When he drives to the basket just let him throw up that wild stuff and block out. They got a lot of points on us just because he broke down the defense threw it up to the rim and while we were collapsing on him we didn't block out good. That said both teams are more talented than us (Clarksburg) and should beat us even worse than they have. Either BS or WC should win the district tourney, however if they are not on their game Huntingdon, Bruceton, and even we can upset them. Regarding coaches working the refs Big Sandy's coach is the equal of West Carroll's coach at whining and complaining to the refs. I really don't see how they draw a technical from the refs. With a different ref association calling the tourney games they may get one or two if they carry on like they did during the season. Hopefully we can hit a stride this week and be playing some good ball going into the tourney. We will have to win any games.
  25. Who else will pitch for yall besides Clint? Is he your #1 guy or ? I'm sorry but I just don't remember names all that well from one year to the next unless I know the kids outside of the HS games. Our weakness will be the same as last year. Pitching and depth in the line up. You need 3 good starters to win the district IMO. You also need to be able to hit at between .250 to .300 with the 7 and 8 batters to consistently score enough. If not you will always find yourself a hit away from a really big inning. I know you guys hit the ball well against us last year especially in the tournament.
