  5. Hello All. I am just wanted to put together a list of all the tournaments that have girls divisions. I know Coach Peck has an online form that people can add tournaments to ( https://sites.google.com/a/coachpeck.com/wrestling-tournaments/ ) but I just wanted to get a list going on here as well specifically for girls tournaments. I think it is important for us to continue to grow the girls side of the sport, and I feel like the more girls we can get together at these tournaments the better. Here is the list of tournaments (during the upcoming 2019 - 2020 season) that I have found so far. Please feel free to add to this list. Dec 7 - West Creek High School - Coyote Classic Dec 7 – Knox Catholic High School – Catholic Invitational Dec 14 - Tullahoma High School - Garner Dyer Boys & Girls Invitational Dec 21 - Wilson Central High School - Wildcat JV Tournament (has a girls division) Dec 27 - Mt. Juliet High School - JV / Girls Invitationals Dec 28 - Independence High School - Maher/Garstin Battle for Independence Jan 4 - Rossview High School - Rossview Girls Tournament ** Jan 4 - Stewarts Creek - Redhawk Rampage ** ** I believe they are trying to add a girls division this season ** Jan 18 - Siegel High School - Ramsey Rumble (Girls / JV) Jan 25 - MTWOA (has been moved to Wilson Central this year)
  6. I hope you all enjoyed your time at the tournament on Saturday. This was the first tournament I have been in charge of hosting (I've helped with others, just never been the head honcho). For me, it felt like most of the day went well other than a few minor hiccups, but what do I know I didn't sleep the night before and was running on lots of caffeine the whole day. So I'd like to hear from you guys. If you have any constructive criticism, positive feedback, or things you would like to see in the future please let me know. I would love to make this the best tournament it can be. There are a few things I would do differently next time including getting medals for the boys. I completely underestimated the turn out and was originally planning on doing a bracketed tournament for the girls when I ordered the medals. I do apologize to anybody who may have felt left out or hurt by this. I wouldn't do it again that way. Again, anything you can think of that would help, please let me know. I really do appreciate everything you do and this is the greatest sport ever.
  7. Thank you. It really just came up out of nowhere. I completely underestimated the amount of athletes that were going to participate. (A good problem to have I guess). I would love for it to become a premier Girls tournament and I would eventually consider making it a competitive bracketed tournament versus round robin I also honestly didn’t expect anywhere near the amount of guys and was not prepared to hand out medals for them as I was initially focused on girls when I set the whole thing up. I apologize for anyone who may have felt left out for that. If I could go back I would have ordered way more medals and handed them all out. They all did a fantastic job today and it broke my heart when I had to tell them I didn’t have any for them Yes Grace is a great young lady and she has a bright future. Her cousin Kortney has had a lot to do with her quick development and improvement from the middle school to high school level. Today wasn’t her best day but I’d rather have a bad day now than at regionals or state.
  8. I completely understand. I hate not knowing if our girls are going to get to wrestle throughout the week. Like I mentioned before, they are seeing more success this season than our guys (mostly due to some key injuries this season with the boys), and I hate that they don't have as many opportunities. Again it's a growing sport and it'll take time. Rome wasn't built in a day. All we can do is keep providing opportunities and doing what we think is best for the program. Hopefully other coaches will catch on and follow suit.
  9. None taken. Just don’t want you to have the wrong idea about us running a tournament. It was literally just to provide an opportunity in the area. Our deadline is 11:59 am this Friday Jan 11th.
  10. I understand why they don't allow girls to wrestle boys. However I don't see why exhibition matches are not allowed. It allows the girls to get experience without counting against anybody's record. Again, this would be until the sport grows to a point of consistency and stability.
  11. I only schedule the Ramsey Rumble after trying to find a local girls tournament in the area that weekend. I initially tried to go to the Hendersonville tournament months ago, but I was told the girls division had been moved, then canceled. Had they been doing the girls tournament on Saturday, I would have gladly sent my girls there instead of taking on hosting a tournament. I believe that if you should check with the people hosting tournaments and see what the situation is before you assume. Currently our girls program is thriving while our boys have been going through growing pains from youth, inexperience, and injuries. We do not have a separate coaching staff nor the funds to run separate teams, but we find a way to grow the girls team and give them every opportunity to wrestle that we can. We bring them with us everywhere and send them to different tournaments if necessary, even at the expense of taking a coach away from the boys. You do what you have to in order to keep the girls program moving and competitive just like we do the boys. Girls wrestling is a relatively new sport in Tennessee but it is growing. In our county in particular, almost every team has some girls and we are working as a group to help get coaches for the girls teams approved by the county. Please be patient and get all the facts before you start pointing fingers please.
  12. Jenna Morris from Tullahoma is the one in charge of the girls' rankings. No idea how often she will be updating them.

  14. 4545 As this is a high school tournament, we will not have a middle school division. We are planning on having an AAU tournament Sunday afternoon on the 13th. I don't know if we will have a girls specific tournament though. I don't believe our area separates the guys and girls at the middle school level. However, you are more than welcome to enter them into our AAU tournament on Sunday if you wish.
  15. Hello. Siegel Wrestling Club is growing again this year and we are looking for coaches to help out. We need help at both the elementary and middle school levels. If you are in the Murfreesboro area or know someone who is that would want to help coach, please contact Coach Freeman (dfreeman.siegelwrestling@gmail.com) or Coach Taylor (clay_taylor90@yahoo.com). Best of luck this season and hope to hear from you guys soon.
  16. Hello All, Siegel High will be hosting a JV & Girls tournament on Saturday January 12th. I will be sending specific information out at a later date, but I wanted to go ahead and start gathering names of those who would be interested. The idea behind this tournament is to get those JV and Girl wrestlers matches who usually don't get an opportunity to wrestle much throughout the year. If you are interested, please shoot me an email with your team name. freemand@rcschools.net I will be putting together a list and sending out more information in the next month or so. Thank you, Donovan Freeman Siegel High Wrestling
  17. Sommers that's awesome. I graduated from Ravenwood High School in 2010 and wrestled under Coach Peck. I wondering if you are referring to my younger brothers Jacob and Nicholas Freeman.
  18. Hello all. Siegel is bringing back their youth club (PreK - 8th grade) this year. I, Donovan Freeman, am heading up this comeback and I was looking to get some help. If you guys know anyone in the Murfreesboro area, specifically in the Siegel side of town, who is looking to get involved with wrestling send them my way. They can contact me for more info. My email is coachfreeman@siegelwrestling.com. 5th - 8th grade will start Friday, October 14th from 5:45 - 7:15pm. We will practice Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. PreK - 4th grade will start Monday, November 28th and will run during the same time frame but will only practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. Thanks for all your help. Hope to have a great first season of our reboot. Good luck this season to all. Donovan Freeman
