  1. Lots of schools in Middle TN could do that. Personally, I host two 8 mat high school tournaments at Siegel (Ramsey Rumble and JV State) with upwards of 600 kids. We usually start wrestling around 9 am and have never gone past 6 pm (typically done around 4:30 pm). We have also talked with other local clubs (Blackman, Iron Knights, Nolensville etc) about hosting in Middle TN and having multiple clubs help run tables etc. It could easily be done, especially with having different sessions. It's possible, but as far as I'm aware, when it has been brought up it has been denied because the powers at be said they did not want it to be held at a high school. However, that clearly isn't the case anymore as there is one now held at Cleveland High (I've heard they have done a great job). I personally think they should be held at High Schools. Let those young kids see and feel what a large local high school event would look like.
  2. Good afternoon, The Ramsey Rumble (Dec 9th) event has been posted to TrackWrestling. I split it into 2 different events on TrackWrestling this year (Girls and Boys JV). If you are planning on going but didn't get the link, please email me at freemand@rcschools.net
  3. Siegel High School hosts a Girls and JV boys tournament on Dec 9th (Ramsey Rumble) We also host JV State on January 27th.
  4. In what regard? Are you looking for some specific information on something? I have lead meetings / discussions in the past, but there is no official title or anything. I just do it because it needs done. I would like to hold another zoom meeting coming up but just haven't been able to find time to schedule one.
  5. I have heard that too. But is that for just boys are they moving to 14 for girls as well?
  6. See some rule changes at the link below. 45 minutes --> 30 mins 5 matches --> 6 matches in one day (no more than 10 in 2 days) https://nfhs.org/articles/changes-in-high-school-wrestling-rules-include-allowance-of-six-matches-in-one-day-of-competition/
  7. Nope. You will have to contact your TSSAA rep and convince them of your case and hope they will listen to you and fight for you. Best of luck with that. I would be surprised if any of them have any knowledge about wrestling, or for that matter, would give it too much thought or care. I begged my rep a few years ago to vote no on adding the sectional tournament and we all know how that turned out.
  8. TSSAA Board of Controls meets May 4th. They will be deciding on the weight classes then.

  11. Region 3 has it's Region Duals this weekend. I'm not sure if any were schedule to go out that way but I know that is why Siegel did not go last year.
  12. It can be hard to rank / make changes when everyone is so spread out and you have to go searching for all of the results. Makes it harder when results aren't on track. Best of luck with these. If I can help let me know. I just have too much going on in my personal life to sit and hunt everything down.

  14. If you would like to be involved with TNUSA girls wrestling, feel free to send me an email at coachfreemantnusa@gmail.com
  15. The biggest take away from this weekend is that there are tons of girls who want to wrestle and represent their state. The girls program will only grow by giving opportunities to those who want to compete. If we only take teams and give opportunities to those who you may consider “good enough”, then what happens when they’re gone? Then we will be back at square one with inexperienced athletes. Our vision for the TNUSA Girls is to continue to grow our numbers and experience. We want to be able to put as many competitive teams together as possible not only at the High School level, but at the younger age groups as well. But again, you can’t grow the organization without developing and giving kids opportunities
  16. Multiple emails and messages were sent out about this duals tournament. Flyers were handed out at the state event. Multiple girls backed out due to personal reasons, injuries, other obligations. And we were not going to turn down the opportunity for those who committed and kept their commitment. The girls who kept their commitment are young but are gaining valuable experience while filling in for those veterans we usually have. As far as some of these other coaches you mentioned. How many of them have coached or had girls participate in TNUSA. Bosken is maybe the only one from the list I saw earlier. As the women’s director, I have reached out multiple times to these (and many other) coaches to get involvement and very few have answered the call or stepped up. So maybe these coaches just don’t want to be involved with FS. Maybe you should figure out why they didn’t step up instead of just assuming Ticknor is a fill in. As far as Ticknor, it would be hard to find another coach more actively involved and enthusiastic about girls wrestling. He was one of only two TN coaches willing to coach girls at Fargo in 2019 (when he first started in TN) and has been a constant ever since. He not only coaches Siegel’s girls but also anybody who is wanting help. He goes above and beyond for the team and all of the athletes respect him and his coaching. If you can coach the team better than him, please step up next time I reach out for help at the national level.

  20. Good afternoon Coaches, Hope you all had some rest over Christmas Break. I know I definitely put work aside to spend some time with family. The New Year's Update for TSSAA Girls Wrestling is now up on Pin-TN. http://www.pin-tn.com/?page_id=1695 If you all have any results you want to share, it helps with painting the most accurate picture of the rankings. I gladly welcome any help you can provide. Thank you!
  21. http://www.pin-tn.com/?page_id=1695 Updated. As always, if you have results feel free to send them in. Girls results always seem hard to find as they aren’t always put on trackwrestling and I have to go around asking.
  22. http://www.pin-tn.com/?page_id=1695 New girls rankings have been updated. This weekend caused a lot of shifting between people being in different weight classes, back ups beating starters at tournaments, etc. There was definitely a lot of shake up and I'm here for it. Will most likely be around Christmas before we see anything solidify. Best of luck this season Coaches.
  23. Good afternoon, The girls dual on Friday has been cancelled but we are still full go for Saturday Dec 11th for the JV Boys / Girls Individual tournament. It is on TrackWrestling under Ramsey Rumble Invitational. Feel free to enter your roster by Wednesday Dec 8th at 11:59pm CST. If you do not have access, please email me at freemand@rcschools.net and I will get you added. Below is the link to TrackWrestling. https://unapproved website/opentournaments/MainFrame.jsp?newSession=false&TIM=1638821318102&pageName=TournamentHub.jsp%3FTIM%3D1638821318907%26twSessionId%3Dstewgoinex&twSessionId=stewgoinex Thank you and see you then. Best of luck with the rest of the season.
  24. The 2021 - 2022 TSSAA Girls Rankings have been posted on pin-tn.com. http://www.pin-tn.com/?page_id=1695 Mind you that this is just the first ranking of the year. With all new weight classes and it being so early in the year, we did our best. If you know that a wrestler is going a certain weight (and is wrong on the rankings) or isn't wrestling anymore (we had a few on the original draft that we got word were not anymore), please let me know. If you have any results throughout the year that would affect on these rankings, feel free to send them to me. Results for girls are difficult to come by especially from certain parts of the state as not everyone puts them into TrackWrestling. Thank you.
