I agree with that. And if we can get the corridor for I-69 finished northwest Tennessee will be In a great spot for growth.

Very true, but with the snail's pace it's taken them to complete a small section around Union City, I'll be surprised if I ever see it go all the way to Memphis. Maybe the added boost from Blue Oval City will kick things into a higher gear for TDOT's West TN projects, but that remains to be seen.

Solid points all around. Here in Dyer County, I do not think we will see a dramatic population increase from Blue Oval City but I could be wrong. We have great schools and that will be appealing. It's not an easy trip to Brownsville and most of the folks I know that choose to commute there live in other communities. However, we could see population increases due to indirect impact such as highway construction or other industry moving to west Tennessee as a result of Blue Oval City.

But then again, we have to remember that football classifications are split evenly. And according to the 23-25 classification cycle, Dyersburg missed 4A by 28 students, having only nine schools ahead of them. Covington missed 4A by 10 students, having only three schools ahead of them.

Keep in mind that Tennessee Is in the middle of a battle over vouchers. Currently, 10,000 students who are not economically disadvantaged can enroll anywhere starting this fall. If additional legislation passes, vouchers will become universal for the 25-26 school year. This is in addition to the potential transfer rule from the TSSAA. There are a lot of factors that could DRASTICALLY change the landscape of high school football in the state.

Honestly, I think Dyersburg is one of the best kept economic secrets in the state given its location at the intersection of US 51, US 412, and Interstate 155. Most of the direct growth from Blue Oval will be in Haywood, Tipton, and Fayette Counties, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if there's some spillover up this way.

Outside Looking In: USJ 3-1, Covington 2-2, McKenzie 3-1, Huntingdung 2-1, Union City 2-2, Obion 4-0

Are these the top 10 teams in rural west tn? Sound off

I think the top 2 are head and shoulders above the rest this year. I've also been really impressed with Crockett so far. I'm gonna try to make it over there to catch their game against Dyer Co. in a couple of weeks.

Now why you gotta do me like that?

I honestly don’t have a problem with Wilco, I just felt like grilling MidStateFan. He’s like the only Williamson County homer on this site and I wanted to clap back at his dig at HC. It’s nothing personal, I actually live in Williamson County.

As for Clarksville, I do talk a lot of smack, but it’s mainly due to all the lost potential over there. But competitively? I love those guys. Probably the single biggest enhancement factor of HC’s all-time record.

Lol you've always seemed to be a pretty reasonable poster. That's why I was asking about the Wilco and Montgomery tangents. Don't you think it's gonna be a much tougher road in your new region?

In fairness, I kinda threw a shot at his team when I brought up WIlco's success against Henry County. He probably has an axe to grind with Montgomery County schools all opting to play 6a which puts Henry in a much tougher region haha.

Lol true. It's hard to tell if they are happy or sad about the Clarksville schools leaving. I've seen mixed messages, but no doubt they will have a tougher road now. Personally I think they will sorely miss how easy their regions have been.

  6. I don't get the impression that West TN struggles as badly as some other posters do. There aren't as many year-in-year-out dominant programs in West TN, but that probably comes down to luck as much as anything. Otherwise, there have been some excellent programs produced by West TN over the years. Union City, Peabody, Lake County, Henry County, Milan, Whitehaven, Germantown, Huntingdon, McKenzie, USJ, Melrose, etc. West, TN is a lot of open space and a lot of small towns. But they hold their own I think. And the Memphis schools have many of the same problems as the Nashville schools, although to arguably an even greater degree. That is a very difficult school system to coach/teach in from what I hear and see.

We all understand how population works. That isn’t the issue. The issue is that you are pretending that population, money, and location does not play a role in the Wilco schools’ record against Henry County, when anyone with eyes and a fraction of sense realizes it does.

And yes, the Wilco publics have been largely underwhelming given their location, money, and population. They do offer up some parity, but not much else.

I sincerely gotta ask, what is your issue with Wilco? This ain't the first time I've seen you jump all over that system. You seem to have an axe to grind with them and Montgomery County both.

Kinda surprised Haywood didn’t make it back onto the schedule. Though it seems both sides enjoy having that as a preseason matchup.

Sort of like when they used to scrimmage Milan every year. I still wish Haywood and HC would renew the series. It would be THE marquee game in West TN most years.

But that’s a tough schedule already. Riverdale and Brentwood on top of their big 3 region opponents. Yikes.

  9. Tried to multi-quote @MJG0LDENBEARS and @MSURacer but I don't know how the heck that thing is supposed to work. @CoachT if you got any pointers, help a guy out. I can see how to quote multiple posts, but I don't see how to paste it anywhere.

Anyway, I agree with both of yall to an extent. Didn't know HC was down that many players against Kenwood, so true that game is meaningless, but I still think Springfield is riding sky high right now. They will be tough to beat at home.
