If anyone ever doubted me when I said DB had the athletes,then last night should make them believe.What's worse is there is a load of athletes walking the halls that don't even play football.I'm not going to dog every coach on the staff of DB because there are some fine coaches.Yes, one or two moves over the last few years and most of the athletes would have came on out to play and this would have been a super strong team that nobody would have wanted to deal with.Loved to have seen it as a DB dad,but just like this game,life moves on and you make the best.No reason this team at DB should not have a great season .Go Devils ! and Roll Tribe !

Glad that game is over.Love seeing the Devils win but I hated to watch those boys I've known for years lose at the same time.In my mind early,I thought it's going to be a very hard game for Greeneville to win because I know DB's talent and as I've said all along,this could have been a monster of a team.Just great adjustments and a little Devil luck in part,ended up making it a special night for Greeneville.DB has to stay healty without that great depth in 6A.Greeneville could use a few more healthy boys as well .This was a huge win for Greeneville but games like this and against other 6A teams will make them better for the playoffs.Good luck to the Tribe and Devils let's put this one behind you and get ready for another tough bunch.

Well,Batman is on the home side and the family is accross the way.Band is on the field getting ready.Wish the Devils had some more depth for these kinds of games,but may the best team win and both have a great season.

Should be a great game.This will be the first time I've seen either team live,so here is what I think might be the way they play it.I agree with DB doing  ball control but I see them putting it in the air as well to back the Devils out of the box.I see the Devils throwing a lot of quick passes because I'd say DB brings the backers and maybe the house a few times.I think DB fakes it as well to try and jump some of those passes.Mistakes for sure will be the thing both teams have to stay away from.The most important thing to me even before who wins is that both teams have as injury free game and everyone gets back home safe.

Yes ,Dobyns Bennett has a great band.Not only the largest in the state in high school or anywhere else,it's also one of the best in the nation....As to the game .This is a win-win game for Batman.The ride home should be interesting either way.If DB wins,I'm happy for my former Indians and their friends.However,if Greeneville wins,I"m happy for the Devils,MYSELF, and every former Devil and Devil fan that has ever lived.

I know Coach Carter gets some flack from rival schools but I don't feel it's deserved. He's a good man, great coach and his players respect him. He's completely turned the program around at SH. I agree that SH and DB should rule this area and be in the state title hunt ever year. They have the athletes and resources. But the truth is, we just can't seem to find a way to get through Knoxville and Nashville. The coaching and athletes are just a little bit better. It is what it is.

Your right,there is no lack of money and there have been some great athletes come out of DB and SH.Some of the best in the world at different sports.It can be done from a team in this area,I've got a couple of Devil championship shirts at the house.

I know it's a joke but I could  understand a few looking towards a region game and saying these games don't count as much. Not myself,I don't care who it is,I don't like to lose.That said,give all you have and go shake hands like a man if you win or lose.Oh yes,act like you have been there before if you do something big and hand the ball to the ref.Stupid stuff could cost your team a game,seen that before.

You can look back about 6 or 8 years ago and I wrote that the one school that will give DB a problem in the future is SH.I can remember the jokes at the football banquet about how coach Carter couldn't beat us at South and it wasn't any different now.That was early and I new  that joke was going to bite back at some point .SH just needed someone to get it's athletes out and coach them.I'm not saying they couldn't take it up another notch ,the same as DB could.These two schools should never have competition in this part of the state with their size and athletes.Really there isn't a reason they shouldn't compete for a state title every year.DB use to be very strong  15 years ago but just couldn't finish the job.I told a friend a couple days ago who has had kids play for the Tribe. DB "should" have plenty of depth and strength to take on any team they play this year, and still could.This is a very strong schedule for an average DB team but if it's not,this should have been a great DB team.No need to throw in the towel if they do lose a couple,but there should be no early exit in the playoffs

I'm sure there will be plenty of banter after the fact .Nomatter how the game turns out, both sides will see one of the best bands in the nation.

That would be a tough game ,never know how teams will machup.If they could change places,would DB have ran the table in place of Greeneville in 2010 or would Greeneville had beat Maryville in the third round.Another hard question because Maryville doesn't lose in the playoffs that much and DB has never made it to the finals

As for this game being an upset for Dobyns Bennett to win....Dobyns Bennett was gifted 3 years ago with one of it's better classes in years.Both Robinson and Sevier sent them loaded teams that played against each other  for the conference championship that Greeneville middle school was a part of. They played and beat SH twice as 9th graders and their only loss was to Greeneville's " JV " team.Now, if DB wins,it's because they have still got enough talent from that class and some great underclassman to boot as you should expect from a school their size.This would in no way be considered an upset to me.On the other hand,when you factor what Greeneville's coaching staff has done over the years and the fact Greeneville has also got some fine athletes,it's no surprise some folks would put DB as a underdog in this matchup .Like I've said,I wouldn't bet against either of these teams come friday night                

I'm thinking I seen Union play against Sullivan North a year or two ago.Had helmets that looked like university of Miami " The U ".That team looked pretty darn athletic .

As it would happen to be.I'm able to wear my Greene Devil colors much more on Friday nights and they play in the same conference now as South.So,it's not that bad for this Kingsport area fan.

Have to say Compton.My favorite DB vs South game however was in 2009.It was almost like everybody in the area had one of their best teams and ranked highly in the state,while DB was down.South would have gone to number one in the state by beating DB that week and pretty much every South fan in the world was there at death valley to see it happen.A few DB fans even made me mad by saying it was going to happen while we were walking into the stadium.One said he should have worn blue and I told him to go  do something I probably shouldn't have.Halftime was a beautiful sight watching all the folks leave on the home side

I agree with everyone on here, Greeneville is the better team. I think db is catching them at the right time, 9 out of 10 I'm taking devils, but I'm going with the INDIANS in a huge upset 27-24.

Batmandevil i see you always comment on the south vs db crowd from a few years back. 2012 db vs science hill was a huge attendance. Didn't get to make it out to either game, but which game had the larger crowd.

South at DB in 2006.Monster crowd with the baseball stands full and about a thousand kids running around on the baseball field.South was thinking upset after nearly beating DB in 2005,but they didn't have their first two centers and coach Watson brought the house all night .It was impossible  for Curt to do anything.

Hope it's a great one.Any way ,your never going to please everyone all the time .Even if Greeneville and Elizabethton had DB and SH types of  games every week and Maryville types of teams from the first round to the finals,someboby would complain that you just had a better coach or players and it wasn't earned.

Will come down to 1 game .. rest of season will be boring .. 

I'd take boring over going home any day.
