  2. You know, that's a great question haha. I always assumed it had something to do with TSSAA rules of pre-season tournaments or something like that, but I do not know for sure. It is just one of those things that has always been on our pre-season flyers over here in West TN. I will ask around and find out.

  4. Don't forget Jack Lewis from Arlington if he is at 195 again. He was the Region 8 Runner-Up behind Dawson Johnson (4th Place at TSSAA 195 last year), and he made it to the blood round last year falling just short of getting on the podium.
  5. For West TN, best returning heavyweight is Cameron Oliver (Bartlett). Cameron Oliver was AAA Region 8 Runner-Up at 285 last year behind Arlington's Johnathan Metcalf. Cameron went 2-2 at TSSAA State and placed 2nd in Greco/3rd in Freestyle at TWF State this spring. Cameron split matches at TWF State with Jamil Hughes (Blackman). Cameron pinned in 1:14 in Greco, and Hughes pinned in 5:38 in Freestyle.
  6. In West TN: Ridgeway (AAA) is resurrecting their program which has been inactive for the last two-three years Both of Southwind's (AAA) coaches left; however, their Athletic Director told me that they hired a new coach but he did not give a name St. George's (D-II) is only program I know that has not hired a new coach for this season, but I believe their athletic director is wanting to find one
  7. We are also hiring a campus monitor which does not require any teaching certifications.
  8. Kingsbury High School in Memphis, TN is looking for a 9th Grade World History/Geography teacher. Kingsbury has a rising wrestling program with two returning wrestlers that were on this year's TN Junior Duals Team, five returning TSSAA State Qualifiers, and a growing middle school USAW program. If you are not certified to teach, we are still interested in hearing from any potential coaches. If interested, contact Nelson Shirley at (901) 827-2445 or nelson.shirley@memphistr.org.
  9. Bluff City is located throughout the city. We have members from Bartlett, Kingsbury, Bolton, Cordova, Southwind, Germantown, Munford, and White Station. We started this club from scratch last year, and it officially became a club this year with the charter and everything. We held our practices at Bartlett High, Kingsbury, and Bolton this year. We did not have any funding besides what we raised ourselves. Contact me at nelson.shirley@memphistr.org, and we can talk more specifics.
  10. In Southwest Memphis, there is nothing. Closest thing to you is either East, White Station, Kingsbury, MUS, Southwind, or Germantown. Would love to see a football-powerhouse school like Whitehaven get a wrestling program started. Also, Bluff City Wrestling Club is a newer club for Freestyle/Greco wrestling.
