Where is the westy poster that got so upset  last year?

Yeah that got out of control real quick. Hope that dude got the help he needed. It seems like anytime we play in Westmoreland there’s some kind of drama. I‘ve heard that’s true for other schools that play there as well. Maybe their just that angry being so close to Kentucky. I know that would have me on edge.

This game could be a trap for the jackets, coming off a hard fought rivalry game, going on the road to a team that is in a must win situation with arguably the best player in the area in Taylor Groves, thoughts?

Taylor Groves is a talented young man. It’s just unfortunate that he’s really about all E. Robby has and all they have had for a few years. I just wonder how good he could be if he had other players around to challenge him. TC takes this one in laugher if all things are as the should be.

They may not, really not much they can do, but they play hard and swarm on defense, should be a good test for the H2O offense

Westy is always a tough out. If not on the scoreboard then in the training room after the game. They always play hard.

I think the Purple take it 28-0 if #14 is good to go.

They used their O as their D against us in the 2nd half.  They let the Play clock run down on each down.  Snapped the ball with 3 to 5 seconds on the play clock.  Halftime we were up 35 to 16.  Each team got the ball for one drive each in the third.  The way they played you would have thought they were up.  #8 will be a good QB when he gets older and more experienced.

#9 and #32 carried load against us.

I seem to remember them doing that to us last year as well. Almost like they were trying to get the game over with as quickly as possible and limiting the number of  H2O offensive possessions. Like the goal was to not let us score 35. The score last year was 28-8, with their score coming in garbage time.

  5. With the lack for scrimmages and jamborees this year, teams may be vastly different from week to week. Cascade seems improved over recent years while H2O has been struggling on offense. Obviously I’d love to see my Purple Tigers boat race the Champions, but especially this year, overlook an opponent at your own risk.

    95-3.

Watertown scores at will and never attempts a punt in this one.

95-3 . I like the fact that you give Cascade a kicking game.
I‘m personally not sure H2O can score at will on anyone this year. I feel good about them keeping teams from scoring. But they will have to show me something I haven’t seen yet this year from them before I predict a double digit win. Hoping you and H2Oman are right, but I just haven’t seen it yet this year.

  7. Cascade coming off a big win travel to Watertown where the Defense is playing well and the Offense is still trying to put it together. H2O has played from behind in all 4 games this year. They’ve pulled out 3 wins, all late. Teams that win late scare me a bit, because eventually you’ll run out of time and lose a game you shouldn’t.
Hoping the H2O Offense finds it’s stride this week and plays with a lead early.

  8. H2O just wore DeKalb out. After they tied it up you could just see DeKalb was running out of gas. It was all DeKalb for most of the first half. They put #68 Chumley in on defense as well as offense in the 2nd half and I think that made a huge difference. He helped clog up the middle giving the speed guys time to get to their runners. Really good adjustment by Coach Hacket.
DeKalb has some really good looking players. Their QB is a stud. Good arm, elusive in the pocket and a powerful runner when he needs to be.
H2O played like they will have to all year. Hope the defense can keep them in the game until the offense figures out something that works.

Yall must have over looked your punk kids trying to rip helmets off under piles and gouge eyes out that the rwf id flag but didnt eject. Your probably the parent of one of those punks so no wonder your kid is like he is.

Nope... I’m actually none of the above. And it’s “You’re” not “Your”. Like in I hope “you’re“ not an English teacher at Westmoreland. However I do think the TSSAA might find this quote very interesting considering the way the game ended.

Naugh, the cheap shots peed me off. I dont need a safe place myself. If we get a shot at yall again some of your guys will need one though

  10. Westmoreland crossed the 50 yard line I think 4 times, 3 assisted by penalties. So yeah, not really a close game. I don’t know who said what to who but the way it looked was the coach was pissed about being scored on late which is something I don’t understand. I know a Westmoreland player got ejected for punching a Watertown player in the face, and then the coach tried to start a fight and had to be held back by his other coaches and the police. So yeah... I don’t think anyone from Westmoreland should be calling anyone thugs based on their behavior tonight and considering their history.

Have to agree with you here.  At times last night though, seemed like the staff and kids were not ready for things like they should be, for example in OT and on the offensive drive, the field goal team was not ready to go when 3rd down was halted.  Everyone should have known this would be next and that they needed to be ready to go in.   I tend to think the same about getting some of the other kids involved.  Have heard this from several others as well.  Anyone that has watched these kids play throughout the years, know that they are not using a couple of kids that have some ability to make plays.  Was impressed with the Carter kid.  Remember seeing that kid at younger ages along with a few more shred teams.  Gotta get them involved in the offense.  Will be too easy to prepare for if they don't against good defensive teams.

Anyone know if Watertown will have to change classifications soon??

Webster was quoted in the paper that he wasn't even thinking about a FG on 4th down until his assistants reminded him it was an option. Not the best situational coach in the world. A few hundred coaches in the stands were also screaming "Field Goal", so that might have helped.

If you’re on here talking about how your kid needs to get the ball more you’re a joke. Let the coaches do their thing. There’s a reason we’re 33-7 in the past 3 years and it’s not because of you.

My kid doesn't play there anymore. But I'm still a fan and support my town. I call it like I see it. Way to assume positive intent.

  13. Wow... what a game. Shout out to the H2O student section. They were AMAZING. I had to sleep on it and let it all sink in. Last years Purple Tiger team would have smoked this years version of the Jackets. By the same token last years Jackets would have smoked this years Purple Tigers. Both teams have a lot of work to do. But iron sharpens iron and I hope these teams will meet again later this year.

Tigers need to figure out how to keep it 1st and 10 and stop putting themselves in 1st and 15 situations. WAY to many mental penalties. The offense and offensive play calling needs to get better. The O-line played better in the second half of this game but it's still no where near where it needs to be. There were 2 TC players in the back field on nearly every snap. Now that has a lot to do with the VERY predictable play calling. On a bunch of plays TC had NO ONE covering a WR. The kids saw it, I saw them telling the coaches, but it was NEVER taken advantage of. And even when they were covering the WR's they were playing 5 to 8 yards off them. That's free yardage that again was never taken advantage of. Except for a couple of passes that went deep, one that connected for a TD, most of H2O's passes were behind the line of scrimmage. Defenses know it's coming and they are usually lined up to stop it this year. Time to change it up coaches. Safe is death, time to innovate. That may mean getting the ball into other players hands. If the O-line can't get to the second level, D-Ray will have no place to go. He can beat one or two guys, but not 4 and 5. So getting the ball into the hands of players that the entire defense hasn't game planned around would, 1) be affective and 2) open things up for D-Ray later in the game. The H2O defense played well. They aren't big, but they are fast to the ball and they swarm. That speed can come back to haunt them as they are too easily deceived by motion and misdirection. They also tackle way too high. Get low! The body can't go where the feet can't take it.

TC needs to find a way to throw the ball, even if it's not successful. Just the threat of a passing game would help the run, which TC has always been great at. Honestly, year after year the boys from the Creek Bank run hard. It's really impressive. But if every team knows that's ALL you can do, it becomes easier stop it, no matter how good you are at it. If TC could throw the ball, even just a little bit they would have won state last year, no doubt. If this years team can find that part of their game, they'd be even harder to beat than they already are.

So overall we saw two good teams play a great game last night. Now it's up to the players and coaching staffs to decide if they want to be great teams or are they satisfied with good. Good is the enemy of great.
