  1. 10-4 man! And anyone that drives from Algood to even Chapel Hill to support their team deserves the Super fan award... much less another hour down the road. Safe travels for you to every game!
  2. There is definitely no mud this year.... anywhere in Tennessee. Except maybe on the riverbanks.
  3. Not too sensitive but yes it gets old. I mean, not long ago we were middle earth hobbit goblins according to the General so I thought I’d reply this time. Like I said above... I’m looking forward to this weeks game and hosting the Rockets again this year. We are really trying to improve everything but with our unique situation there has been no help from county government or the school itself in the way of funding. Our field is on private property away from the school so they can’t spend tax payer money and I understand that. Just a sore subject all the way around. The bleachers were $36k bought used with donations and fund raisers. So that’s why it’s slow go. Finding stuff we can afford makes it even harder. Sorry for coming across as too sensitive but it’s been an uphill battle for 8 years now and they just keep dangling the “new school” carrot and moving down the road further and further. As as far as scheduling. I think it has a lot to do with Columbia Academy going to Div 2 . We played att Lewis co last year and this year and also Mt pleasant both years.
  4. Shaffer’s Texas barbque!!! Can’t go wrong! It’s not really a restaurant tho... more like a deli off the side of a meat market. It’s not pulled pork though. They have beef brisket and smoked sausage along with other meat selections and sides. It’s all ready and served when ordered so no wait. I’ve never heard anyone say they didn’t like it. You won’t be disappointed! Here’s a link for their segment on Tennessee crossroads.
  5. Pretty sure you’re just trying to elicit a response so.... Just so you know we’re proud to be country. But as country as we are there’s not much difference between us and Chapel hill folk. I mean we’re only about 60 miles apart and we’re all Tennesseeans. You act like you’re used to playing ball in Beverly Hills rather than Chapel hills. I went to the Forrest game last night and parked behind the home side bleachers. Weren’t no pavement or painted lines there either, just grass. We have recently added bleachers to the other side of the field so no more watching from the truck bed. And I bet our field looks a whole lot better in our fifth varsity year than Chapel hills looked in their fifth varsity year. You mentioned The Rifleman so you’re probably old enough to remember the early years of Chapel hill football. If you’re too good for our humble facilities maybe you should just stay home, Candy!!! How bout you congratulate a community on starting a football team and building a program for the athletes that get left out of baseball and basketball. Without football there were a lot of boys that missed out on the experience and camaraderie of extra curricular sports. Those boys are why we have built this field. Humble beginnings give way to championship teams. We may not be there yet but just look at Summertowns performance in other sports and you may just realize that we do know how to win. It’s just a matter of time before it happens in football. In the spirit of good sportsmanship though... come on down, sit in the bleachers, eat a grilled burger, and reminisce your younger years when you attended the first few seasons of Rocket football. Please forgive us for asking you to park in the grass and also forgive the bathroom facilities. We’re trying to raise the money for real bathrooms. Slowly but surely. Oh and congratulations on yalls awesome season!! One of my best friends has a boy playing for yall... #65. I I was proud to get to watch him last night and proud y’all stomped Lawrenceburg.
  6. Definitely not the same Summertown team this week as last. Very surprised by tonight’s events. Our offensive line was almost non existent. Forrest is coming to town next week and if we play them like we played tonight it’ll be a slaughter.
  7. They replaced Carr with Hayden Dale... their star receiver.
  8. East college street, Summertown turn from 43 to monument rd to east college street... field will be on the right
  9. No need for 7 degrees... Lawrence County beat Loretto 3 weeks ago 28-3. They are in county rivals so I doubt Lawrence County went easy on them. Didn’t y’all just beat Loretto 41-7? And that was putting in second string after the first half? I think Forrest wins this one easy and gets their second string some more game time. And just so you know Lawrence County high school is about 15 miles south of Summertown.... just past middle earth. So watch out for those hobbit goblins!
  10. Stown march down the field on opening possession and scored. Lewis County fumbled on their ensuing possession. First quarter ended 7-0 after Stown missed a 40ish yrd fg attempt. LC’ scores with about 2:30 left in the half to go to the locker room 7-7. On LC’s first possession of the second half they ran it down the field at will and scored easily but that would be all for LC. Stown outperformed them in every category and had no problem making 14 more points in the second half. It was a good competitive game where Summertown was hitting on all cylinders.
  11. Summertown has the athletes. Y’all have already mentioned the baseball and basketball teams. We have zero dual sport athletes on our football team cause those other coaches discourage their players from playing football and the football athletes are looked over when it comes to the other sports. We are a fifth year program and I am proud of everything these guys have done since the beginning. I am also proud of our field and the parking area... so there’s that too! I hope it rains all week before amerigha shows up. Maybe he’ll get a little mud on his shoes.
  12. Summertown is now 4-1 and have Loretto next week
  13. 21-14 final SUMMERTOWN WINS!!!!
  14. 21-14 4:05 left in game Stown up
  15. Boy, if a couple losses cause the players to lose heart and the coach to break his own hand hitting a wall... what's gonna happen next season when they go division 2 and only have a couple wins?
  16. I didn’t expect to win and was proud of Stown’s first half performance... just wish we coulda held onto the ball in the second half. It would’ve made for a better game to watch for all fans.
  17. Just wanted to reply to this... the field at Summertown has been constructed with 100% donations and volunteer labor. No tax payer money has been given to aid with anything at the location. The only thing paid for by the school system is the light bill and the porta-johns. If not for the generosity of the community and and few dedicated individuals, there would not be a football program in Summertown. A program that has allowed several young men that would not be involved in organized sports if not for this field and this team. A team that came several decades later than any other neighboring school. It may take us more than 4 seasons to catch up when it comes to the facility but we are certainly already competitive on the field. I heard several disparaging comments last night about the field and facilities.... I never realized that plain ole country folk were above parking in a field, walking through grass, sitting in folding chairs, and utilizing a port a potty. I guess Wayne county folk are just better than us Summertown hicks. We are expecting a new high school and football field hopefully by the 2020 season. So maybe when y’all come back for the next whooping it’ll be up to your standards.
