  1. Ooltewah stands in your way to make it out of the district. Will you beat them this year? You have to do that first.
  2. Yes you have that mean and bitter of a parent on your team. I just thought a lot of the things said on here last year and earlier this year were directed at certain people. Well they are no longer involved so........... why do the problems remain? Maybe because of bitter parents like Wilson. Maybe because the emphasis is not going to be on winning but having fun. Who knows? I just think a high school coach gets paid to do a job and I would think winning would be important. Did you not read the post where she stated she and her daughter were not run off the team? Pretty clear she's from Ooltewah and obvious to me who it is. Maybe certain people were not the problem, maybe people just like to put up smoke screens to hide real issues. I guess my definition of a problem which would include not being successful and winning and other peoples definition of a problem are different. Maybe Wilson thinks a problem is a competitive player on your team that doesn't fit the mold and has been coached to take the game and practices serious and not for goofing off. Maybe Wilson defines success as running here and there and finding tournaments with weaker talent so you can be successful. {b ball} Maybe Wilson doesn't think the game of high school softball should be taken serious. Oh Well CATBIDDLE I think Ooltewah has problems you didn't even know existed. Good Luck to Ooltewah like I have always said there is enough talent there to get the job done. Just imagine if she comes on here and says crap like that what is she saying to her daughter. Could be she has caused a lot of problems with her jealousy towards other players and her phone calls to the coach. We joke about this on here but it really isn't a funny issue when you are on that team and have to experience it.
  3. That's the way to build a winning program. Let's keep everyone happy!!!!!!!!! Your statement just proved what I have been saying. Thanks!!!!!
  4. Well I think SB Scout did several posts ago. Maybe my eyes know more about evaluating games than you. Maybe you need to take your blinders off and quit all the wishful thinking just go down and read Wilson's post you all do not seem to be so united to me. It sounds like you care about winning and others do not. Wilson's "b" ball mentality represents the majority on that team. Just let my daughter play. That's all it's ever been about. Not setting goals and working hard to achieve them. If players were allowed to cuss out teammates which I seriously doubt then the coach was not doing her job by allowing it to go on. I heard there was a lot of celebrating in the dug out when Ooltewah came back to beat Boyd after Boyd put in the 2nd string and a certain senior got onto them for that. She better be careful she will get accused of cussing, being negateve, and tearing apart that united team. Quit kidding yourself CATBIDDLE you have a competitive spirit and it's not happening there. If a girl has a competitive edge on that team she is not very well liked. Maybe ya'll need to throw in ice cream party at the end of each game. Win or not that would be fun!!!!!!! Ooltewah will get the respect you seek for them on here when they beat Soddy in a district match up. My eyes said the team has 2 players Thomas and Saunders. Do you still think they need glasses?
  5. I was not there but I had 2 sets of eyes there and they said Ooltewah really struggled with the bats. Defense is really weak in a lot of spots. I don't understand I thought Ooltewah "got rid" of all there problems. I heard Soddy looked strong and will rule the district again. Hixson is getting better and better.I said earlier I believed Ooltewah would beat Red Bank and make it out of the district for the first time in a while. But, after what I am hearing now who knows. There are some talented girls on that team. What about Notre Dame? Were they there and how did they look?
  6. Sure they are all state but, the accuracy of the stats for pitchers during high school games can be greatly helped or hurt by the scorekeeper. Especially if it is a pitchers parent which I think should not be allowed. As far as Red Bank we will know at the end of this season whether they were hurt by the graduating class. We don't have to arge over it time will tell. And to everyone on here that doesn't believe politics influences high school softball. I really wish you would tell me the school and the coach because I am going to send my granddaughter there. Who looked good at the East Ridge Playday this weekend?
  7. That is why this site is here to express opinions. And my opinion is that most high school coaches do not put the best players on the field. They are influenced by way too many other things. High school softball would be much more competitive and lots more competitive teams would be put on the field if the coach always chose the best players. Why are you so defensive and angry MC Dad? Are you one of the parents that has the coach in your pocket?
  8. I disagree with your opinion about coaches not cutting good players. Some do lots of things just because they have the power to do so. Why would a player make the team for 3 years and then suddenly not be good enough for it. Or, if it was a disciplinary issue unless it was something bad enough to get her suspended from school aren't there other ways for a coach to get there point across instead of cutting a player there senior year. It's easy to say Deal with it! when your child is not involved. I think coaches shouldn't be allowed to coach unless they are parents. What do you think about that? Being good enough to make teams is also a mattter of opinion that depends on a lot of factors. My daughter made everything she always tried out for and always got plenty of playing time but, I certainly have seen coaches do things to others that was not right. Compassion, respect, and self respect go a long way. And oh yeah lets not forget good old common sense. I would love to know the facts concerning this particular issue. I an just talking about coaching in general. The coach is not always right and thats why I agreed with the previous post. You certainly cannot change it and it does no good to complain.
  9. I don't know who you are but you are very insightful and have obviously experienced high school softball and the politics involved. You cannot change it and in my experience there are always parents at the high school level that have the coach in there back pockets. It is not always the best players that are put on the field and some great players are cut or put in situations where they are forced to make decisions regardless of there love for the game. Thank God for summer travel teams and the exposure the girls get on them. If it was all about school ball the college coaches would miss out on some good players that never make the teams or don't get to play because of politics. I wonder if the coach at Rhea County might look back on this 20 years from now and wonder if she could have handled it differently. I do not know her but she is probably young and I am sure some of the parents are taking advantage of her. Hopefully she will learn from this and not be like some area coaches that just remain stubborn and influenced my booster parents with big bucks and don't care about winning!
  10. It seems like they wouldn't be running out of gas then if they had 3 capable pitchers. Sounds like Rice just freed up some pitching time for some of the kids and parents that had been whining. Good Luck to Ooltewah they always start out good and then fizzle as the other teams work hard and continue to get stronger. I am glad the 2 seniors are showing leadership that team needs a leader. Good Luck to Casey she is a great kid and I agree someone needs to sign her. Maybe her summer coach can help with that.
  11. That is the million dollar question. Who called her a stud you certainly never have.
  12. If you had ever been involved in Ooltewah Softball in any way you would understand. One family runs that program and they have for years. All you have to do is ask some old timers in Chattanooga they will tell you who it is. They are why a lot of girls choose to go elsewhere. I warned the Rice's about this several years ago. It sounds like Wilson 25 has a chip on her shoulder about something. Did she think her daughter should have been the starting pitcher? I don't know but if she is who I suspect that she is that is probably her problem. JEALOUSY! If things haven't changed at Ooltewah and it doesn't sound like they have. That program is not about winning and setting high goals to achieve. It is about whiny parents, playing time, and where there child gets to be in the batting order. The excuse of building self esteem, and having class excuses the lackluster performances. As I have said many times so much talent through the years and so little reward to show for it. Maybe we shouldn't feel sorry for Rice for missing her senior year. It sounds like she made a well thought out mature decision. I don't know how a coach could feel good in any way about letting a player like that slip through her program. Oh Well, she's not the first and will not be the last.
  13. I really find it hard to believe you would come on here and admit you are an Ooltewah parent and that you and your daughter were not run off the team. It really speaks volumes.
  14. Your character speaks loudly from all your posts going all the way back to last year. What about the state titles? I thought that was the issue. Were you once again proven wrong in what you think you know so you choose to go off bashing this kid and her family like you always do. No one will know the truth until you ask the family and they have more class than to come on here and to discuss their personal business. I bet Softball Scout has just about hit the nail on the head. And as far as administration they don't care about a girl sport like softball. They care about what brings money into the school. I would be careful making statements about a player being run off a team if there is a lawsuit brought about because of statements like this you may be forced in a court to come clean about who you are and what you know. And there again that says it all about Ooltewah softball me and my daughter were not "run Off" the team. There is obviously a discipline problem that the coach cannot handle. Maybe this case isn't closed maybe it's just fixing to be opened. My advice to you is to be careful what you say if you don't know the facts.
  15. I need to correct the date it was 1997 not 2000 when the Lady Owls were state runner ups. Sorry for the error.
  16. You are showing your ignorance once again. Norma Nelson has never won a state title. She was setting in the winners bracket in 2000 and lost back to back to Beech. The state titles were won by Jim Lovell and Norma was his assistant. Ooltewah will get out of the district this year simply because Red bank has lost a lot of good players. I have followed Ooltewah softball a long time and they have had many talented teams. It is a shame a kid chooses not to play her senior year because a program is surrounded with so many problems. I am not going to call names but I could. There are a lot of very talented players that went to private schools or did not play through the years because of problems at Ooltewah. The achievements of Ooltewah softball under Norma Nelson were and will continue to be due to the talent level that comes in. It says a lot about your character the way you make fun of a certain player and choose to hide behind this computer. If the parents at Ooltewah are like you whether you are from Ooltewah or not, no wonder players choose not to play it sounds like a big old mess to me!
  17. I do believe that if you dont know the facts...like who is who...you need to keep your mouth shut
  18. If Norma had some talent @ Ooltewah she would be a good coach. After Holly Thomas she has nothing. You are forgetting one major player at Ooltewah...Kerilyn Mongar...She's the best to ever lace up a pair cleats well in some peoples opinions that is. Ooltewah problems, problems, problems as usual. Rumor is talented Rice isn't even playing this year. Rumor or Fact???
  19. What a good lookin' coach sitting on that bucket.
  20. I agree with you speed is becoming more and more important. I also think most players would be happpier playing than sitting. But, you must figure in the value of the education and what is important to that player. Some of these girls that are really good probably don't have the grades or test scores to go anywhere big anyway. Most full rides go to pitchers and catchers but I do see the really fast girls making more and more of an impact on teams and there performances. I really do not know of a girl in chattanooga that I can honestly say would start at Georgia or Tennessee as a freshman. Maybe one or two that might get an offer. But remember there is a difference in a full ride and an offer. i know of some girls that just get books and you hear they got a scholarship. Well, there is a big difference. I guess that is what started all this any way. A full ride offer regardless of where it is from is a very nice compliment to a player if she impresses a coach that much and to offer it this soon after only watching her one time. Good Luck to Brittany whatever she chooses!
  21. We could sure use some good ups in Chattanooga.
  22. I know that and you know that and I believe some others better learn it quick if they want to play. I don't think any college coach on any level is going to make a guarantee of playing time. It just does not happen at the college level. Guess What ? Those 4 are going to get a wake up call. Superstars in high school do not make superstars in the SEC!
  23. Exactly and I don't think a lot of these players, parents, and there supporters understand that. You better love the game and you better eat, breathe, and sleep softball. Mama and Daddy have no say so in college it is a growing up quick reality check. High school superstar today and a college freshman unknown tomorrow!
  24. Bless your heart you may have withdrawal symptoms this summer. College is a whole new ballgame and I don't think unless you have been through the recruiting process you really don't understand it. My daughter chose not to play but did not have "big time" offers. She did have some D1 offers but fell in love and didn't play. I have continued to follow Ooltewah softball and helped coach in middle school maybe you can find some other way to be involved. You really will miss it. I have followed softball since the early 70's. a lot of the local high schools here in chattanooga did not have fast pitch until the late 70's so it was all travel ball back then. That is how I know a lot of the local high school coaches they also coached summer teams back then.
