  1. What about the new school in Sevier Co? Have they hired a basketball coach yet?
  2. word is that this kid lives in the Germantown area and lived there when he played at LFO. Got a ride to school each day with someone that worked at the school. Who gives him a ride to Howard to catch the bus to SM? NCLB and TSSAA have nothing to do with each other. Someone said it earlier, the Supreme Court ruled in the Brentwood Academy case that playing a sport in high school is privilage not a right. Likewise, joining TSSAA is a choice that each school makes. TSSAA is an entity that has the right to establish it's own rules that each school who joins agrees to abide by. There is no way any leagal issue exists between TSSAA's transfer rule and the NCLB failing school transfer rule. NCLB is concerned only with the educational aspect of children, not the athletic aspect. Far too often, fans get these two confused. If this kid was zoned for Brainerd, then he should not be eligible to play for SM if the HCDE hasn't established SM as a partner school for Brainerd. This seems so simple looking from the outside with an unbiased opinion. The only way people at SM wouldn't have known of this is for the parents/guardians of the kid to have lied about their address. Looks like someone, don't know who, tried to slide this in the backdoor and hope no one found out. SM maybe. Parents/guardians maybe. A third party with interest maybe. I think that is why two investigators came.
  3. Just a question from an interested outsider. How many kids from South Pittsburg, Jasper and Whitwell are going to be on Boyd's roster this year?
  4. My top 10: 1. Howard 2. Brainerd 3. Cleveland 4. Walker Valley 5. Baylor 6. McCallie 7. CSAS 8. Temple 9. Grace 10. CCS Honorable Mention: Red Bank - IF, and that's a big IF, they get things straightened out and get Benford back. Ooltewah - I just wouldn't be a true fan if I didn't plug my team.. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  5. The first time they played was Notre Dame's second game of the season. Marion had played a lot more games than that. Coach Foxx was a great player at Notre Dame and he wont let this team stay down long. Good thing Marion got the win early because I think this game will be alot different. Notre Dame wins this one by 15 or more. Good luck Irish!
  6. There's one thing that we know for sure. If Howard wins abc123boy will be on here crying about how the refs cheated ER and how Jurick wasn't allowed to play without having touch fouls called and Wells couldn't shoot cause Howards players were hanging all over his arms. If East Ridge wins, t-mac will be on here crying because the refs were against Howard all night long. Nobody, not even the officials gives Howard the respect they deserve. It's a conspiracy in Chattanooga. Everyone hates Howard. Get your towels ready people, someone will be crying a river tonight.
  7. If you wasn't so hung up on your boy Alex you'd see how absolutely idiotic that statement is. At this point, any senior who is being recruited has received offers or is very close in the process. You still haven't named a single school that is close to offering him anything. That crap about UT recruiting him for juco teams is just plain whack. The juco's still have to visit and offer the scholarship. The only reason UT has even talked to Wells (if they have) is because he was sitting next to Jurick. Name one school that is interested. Just one. You can't because there aren't any. His grades and attitude are not worth a college burning a scholarship on.
  8. OK. Slow down. Deep breaths. LISTEN. I didn't mean to imply that Jurick wont "go" to a DI school, because you are right, he'll "go" because he is as big as a house. What I was saying was that he will never play DI and I stand by that statement whole-heartedly. Unless he has a major attitude change next year, he'll be a waste of a good scholarship for someone. He's 6'10" or better and THICK. He is by far the biggest guy in his district (I think). Several people have stated how down Chattanooga basketball is and District 6AA is not an exception. Someone with that much size advantage should be dominating everyone that he plays. I'm sorry, but in the half-dozen or so games that I have seen him play, he is lazy running the floor, he's not physical on the boards (gets rebounds because of his height not ability), takes plays off on offense, and just doesn't hustle at all. I just don't see any DI school throwing a scholarship at him without sending him to a prep school. I'll still stand by my statement that he may "go" to a DI school but he'll never PLAY DI ball. My guess is that if he does in fact go to a DI school he'll transfer out within the first year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but you can come back on here in five years and let us know if he is graduating from one of those big schools or not..... Wells will go somewhere? Name one school that has offered anything to him. Name one school to which he has made an official visit. Name one school that is remotely interested. This is the end of his senior year. IF he was going anywhere, he'd already have a good idea about where it is. Does he?
  9. Should be a very good game but I can virtually guarantee you that there wont be another "incident" following this one. The Owls will go into this game focused. I think that RB will be the team that will be distracted. Look for the Owls to win.
  10. Yeah. Those two could use a lot of help but it's not just them. The whole team is filled with thugery. They act like they are in the NBA with all the trash talking and showboating. Wells would be alot more effective if he would worry as much about his game as he does how he is going to hotdog after every shot. Sad part is that Wells could be a pretty good DII or DIII player but his attitude wont let him. He wont play anywheres. If Jurick doesn't get into a program next year that is disciplined, I'll be willing to bet the farm that he doesn't play at the next level. If he does, he wont make it to DI. They all think that he is going to UT but could you imagine how bad those guys would make him look?
  11. Does the team have to be outstanding to have a good point guard? I've seen many exceptional point guards that have played on teams with losing records. Conversely, I've seen horrible point guards that are surrounded by a wealth of talent on teams that dominate. I admire your loyalty to Howard basketball even though I don't understand it because of where your own kid played, but there are other players in and around Chattanooga that are just as good as any one individual player on Howard's team. The thing is that Howard has a number of talented athletes on the same team which makes Howard (the team) pretty dog-gone good.
  12. I was at the game and it looked to me as if Howard had an off night. That was not the best game that I have seen them play this year, which says a lot about their talent if they can have an off night and beat arguably the second best team in the district. I say arguably beause I don't think that ER will be second at the end of the tournament. They don't have the discipline or coaching to be consistent in tournament play. In this game Howard missed way too many shots that I've seen them make constistently (including FTs) and seemed to be just a tad bit overconfident at times. Maybe this will wake them up in time for the post season. I know that coach will address their shortcomings between now and their first round game. Good luck to Howard from the Nest.
  13. I hardly ever agree with anything that you say but this is absolutely the most accurate thing that you have ever posted.
  14. Sounds like Sequatchie should work on playing defense instead of fouling.
  15. Whoa guys. Don't get so defensive. I wasn't accusing your coach of running up the score, I was simply asking a question. Obviously, I didn't see either game, only the scores. Like I said, if she is substituting early and often there isn't anything for people to complain about. It's the defense's job to stop the other team from scoring and if they can't do that against second and third stringers and first year players, then they deserve a lopsided loss. It sounds like the folks in Dunlap are going to be enjoying a lot of basketball success over the next few years. Good luck to the Lady Indians in all of your games. That is, of course, as long as you don't schedule the Lady Owls!
