  1. When you look at the history of this series, when WB is up (relatively speaking) as a program we always beat Heritage. The bell will be coming back home to Alnwick this Friday night.
  2. I like WB in this one. We're actually playing defense now and this is the first time I can say that since Gregory was coaching.
  3. WB is up 35-7 on Karns. I've been really impressed with WB's defense thus far. They are tackling pretty well and forcing a lot of negative plays.
  4. My prediction? The Govs will blow up the beaver dam. Slightly off topic: How in the heck did Shad land as co head coach at Catholic? That guy literally put our football program in a coma.
  5. I was just happy to see that we can tackle again. Last year was brutal.
  6. I know AE is struggling and doesn't reflect the competition we'll see the rest of the way, but still, WB was 0-10 last year and a commanding win is a commanding win. The defense didn't give up a touchdown and we ran the ball well. The QB is a really nice athlete and we have to get better at protecting him or he will be getting sacked a lot. Props to Williebgovs and Stan and the others for a good stream.
  7. Shad must have charisma that I haven't seen interacting with him when he wants to, because some people at WB still believe he was a good coach. I've even been told he was better than Meadows and did more with less than Meadows could have. I'm still scratching my head at that because Meadows won football games and his teams looked disciplined and well coached. I can't say the same for Shad's teams.
  8. Has nothing to do with WB being a "coach killer" and everything to do with Shad being a mediocre coach at best with a poor work ethic, as has been illustrated by the stories in this thread. I've also heard that he called practices because he was annoyed that the team wasn't focused. What kind of coach does that? His teams weren't disciplined. His in-game play calling was often questionable. He always showed his arse yelling at officials during games. He also wasn't really friendly to media, aside from his buddy Stork. Oh yeah, and his uniforms were ugly and boring AF. GovForce just sayin.
  9. The final possession of that basketball game against Karns last night was something else. We were down 3 with the ball and a chance to tie with a 3-ball in the final seconds. Then Karns intentionally fouled our guy with the ball - which made sense - and they literally knocked the guy over in the process right in front of the ref and no foul was called. That was sorry and that was just one of many questionable things that were and weren't called in the game. Any how, it was still a great game and hopefully we can get a more even officiating crew in Kingsport. Go Govs!
  10. I was very critical of William Blount's football program and coaches after last year, so I wanted to make sure I came on and praised the boy's basketball team for an exceptional season so far and they are still playing! They've beaten Bearden 4 times this season after losing 40 in a row to them. That's no small feat. They play at Karns tonight for the region and a trip to sectionals. Go Govs! And let's hope the basketball team's amazing season can breed a culture of winning that bleeds over into football and other sports.
  11. Barney, That rumor wasn't true. There was a practice that had less than 30 because the other kids were in other spring sports and someone took that and ran with it to be spreading bad news.
  12. Yeah Barney. I remember Heritage used to be our whipping boy that we took to the shed every year. We could count on that. That was until Shad got there and Hammontree had years to build up the Heritage program to the extent. Look, I get that this team is young and less talented than other teams, but dadgum show me something. Show me anything. Show me a team that is playing harder and tackling better in week 11 than week 1 when we were trying to play two-hand touch with Clinton. In years past, no matter how bad the year was, we always had at least a game or two where we played like our hair was on fire. The 2016 Dobyns Bennett game comes to mind. We haven't seen anything remotely close to that this year. That's why I have zero confidence in the future of the program unless we make major changes like right now. This just isn't working at all. And like I said, I'm firmly in the camp that this guy can't get it done.
  13. There was no development or progress made this year. This team was way worse tonight than they were when I went up to Clinton in August and that's saying something. They looked so bad then that I couldn't stand to watch and left before halftime to go eat. We can't afford to let this keep going on if we ever want WB to have success in football. I don't want to hear any nonsense about how coaches need 2, 3, or 4 years. We've seen enough. Sometimes you're so bad that you go 0-10 and that's fine. But there should be signs of progress. For example, scores should get closer and your squad ought to be more able to physically compete as they practice, do workouts and get game experience. I have asked this question before and I will ask it again: Does this coaching staff even teach tackling??? Because there is no evidence that they have practiced tackling when you watch the Govs on defense. We couldn't even tackle the women's team at the nursing home if we wanted to.
  14. Can we agree that the current leadership isn't working now? 62-7???? To Mo East???? That tells you all you need to know. Fire the whole staff and start from scratch. We didn't even come remotely close to being in a game all year. This has got to stop before this program is unsalvageable.
  15. Waco, How would you rate WB's tackling ability? Did it impress you?
  16. Why would it be a Karns situation? WB beat DB at J. Fred in 2016. However this year's squad would get beat 60-0 by that WB team .
  17. I'll tell you the problem. We've had to compete with other local schools for players for years, but now there's a new school in the mix in Eagleton. And Blount County Schools let our last coach take that job after running our program into the ground. The more I think about that the madder I get. So what was WB's solution out of this? Hire a guy who has never won anywhere. It almost makes sense if you're asleep and not thinking about it.
  18. Look at UT. Look at Lenoir City. Look at how WB was when Meadows was in charge. The right coach leading your program makes all the difference. UT was in the toilet. Now less than two years after the worst season in program history we are back in the top 10. Remember Butch constantly talking about how it was a six-year process? I guess Heupel built on that brick foundation? Lol. The point is things can turn around fast when you have the right coach. Lenoir City and UT being prime examples and maybe Heritage is in that category too. Who knows how good they can be with Osovet.
  19. I would have brought Meadows back at the time we had the chance to or let Rick take over instead of Shad.
  20. I just saw where Lenoir City upset Clinton. That's what the right coaching hire will do for a program. You will start seeing those milestones of improvement instead of a team that still can't tackle more than halfway through the season.
  21. We have a coach who tells the paper that we couldn't compete if we passed the ball. I have literally seen us score on defenses with D1 players when we had pass happy offenses. Um how about Oakland? That's just one of many examples but I think it's the only one needed because their defense is elite.
  22. Barney, Do you realize how disingenuous and insincere you come across? You obviously do not care about WB having success if you want this to continue two more years before pulling the plug. This ain't working and it still won't next year or the year after.
  23. The problem with this "overhaul" process is they hired a guy who has never won anywhere to lead a losing program. That's not a good recipe for success. Also, that process should include some improvement along the way. This team still can't tackle anyone more than halfway through the season. I can't even stand to watch. It's sad how bad we are. Truly sad.
