    Paper Tigers are the worst

Been missing out on a lot here, WT! A third rate elementary teacher from Milan, who is still living in the 90's, has ramped up his rhetoric and been called out and put in his place a couple of times. (hates the word is out on Milan running from competition). Hohenwald is sitting at a one loss season but, competitive with the rest of the region, so far. No surprise there but the big story here is Loretto. They are undefeated and just absolutely tearing the region up! Those Mustangs have it all together, for this year anyway.

Next up is to see who all makes it from this region to the third round, not just if Hohenwald does. I'm learning more about those West Tennessee teams so I'm seeing just how tough they are. Now that Riverside has been pushed over there, it does make 2A in Middle that much easier.

I'm still fighting the good fight against the paper champions and now, I guess, the paper tigers. Check back when you can.

Just proof of what I said…. STM

But I am Happy that those kids from Page did get to experience going to the State Championship game. It’s a great accomplishment making it there.
Just thinking out loud tho, I highly doubt you even are from Franklin/Page anyways. Heck, you may originally even be from Hohenwald. Or had a kid play there when they were in the same region as LC. Lol. You just have the same old comebacks, same old paper champions comment, same “we made it to back to back championships” and running down the same town. Must not be a fan of the old coach at LC, as it seems you have followed his trail to Milan now. And I guess, by the enrollment numbers in that “Big Boy Football”, LC should just come on up to 5A with Page. Seems to be easier to make it to a SC there. Must be, since the struggle was real when Page was in 2-3A.

Nah, just calling a spade a spade. Thanks for the compliment though. The struggle was real, however. But, we pushed through it and have finally reached real success, including a program to be proud of!

That’s why you are a fan of paper tigers.

Don’t forget that Lewis and Page has actually played 22 times on the field (not on message boards) and Lewis has won on the field, 13 times to 9. Or 59% of the games played on the field. In all 22 games Page had almost double LC’s enrollment, which I would assume means that Page was attempting to play a weak schedule.

Don’t forget that Page has played for two state championships and Hohenwald has played for zero. That’s in big boy 5A football too because that’s our enrollment numbers.

Again where is your proof?  Not just an opinion. I asked you earlier and you keep deflecting as usual. It’s not like we were in a much higher class and lost to a much smaller school and didn’t reschedule them the next cycle. But what I do know is Milan nor Lewis Co scheduled a first year team this year like Page did. Lol.

Too funny! Again, trying to make something into nothing! We didn’t seek out to schedule them; they were placed in our region. Now, if we were to seek out smaller and weaker schools like Collinwood or Waynesboro (when they are down) or Obion County or 0 for 50 Spring Hill for our out of region schedule I could understand. I could also understand if we had a school population to rank us in 2A but we bounced between divisions to try to find an easier path against lessor competition but, we do none of that and yet, we still make it to the state championship. Add to that, we don’t need Covid to help us either. Sure am glad we are not paper tigers!

Which larger class team was it that lost to Forrest in 2016 and then dropped them from their schedule?  My memory escapes me…

You have moved well past ignorant and into the realm of dumb. Here you are again, trying to make something into what it is not. In 2016, the game against Chapel Hill ended the contract after playing four consecutive years. We moved into a different region and schedule’s would not have matched up anyway. We are not like the paper tigers from Milan always duking and dodging competition by jumping classifications.

    2 hours ago, BIGPURPLEMACHINE said:

Wow. So Lewis actually scheduled tougher opponents this year. Good point.

When you make it to the state championship game in 5A in consecutive years, even if the regular season schedule is (Hohenwald weak), it doesn’t really matter, does it?

I tell you what I do remember; state championship games. What do you remember? I know, the start of basketball season.?.?.

And don’t forget the Paper Runner Ups.
Id say no one on this site has anything to do with the scheduling of Games here. I agree that tougher scheduling should be done to improve toughness and preparation. But with a low income county and school system. We can’t just make the trip to Alcoa, Oakland, Etc… or whoever else you think LC should Schedule. Of LCs 3 non district games. Community is just plain bad. Creekwood is Very athletic, but wasn’t very good either but a 4A team. And then Pure youth below. The other 7 games are Region games. And I highly doubt as you have claimed before, LC got to choose what district they wanted to go to. No Ex coach and no TSSAA board members for you to blame.

You brought up Pure Youth and downed LC playing them. here is what I found from their schedule of the Tennessee teams. They were no slouch opponent, the most athletic team I’ve seen LC play in recent memory and their record doesn’t show if that’s all you looked at.

    Pure Academy

    Vs Haywood L 21-28.

Haywood is 7-2. Losses to Oakland and Hardin County. Currently Ranked 8th in 4A.

    Vs Cookville L 21-18

Cookeville is 6-3. Losses to Mt. Juliet, Lebanon and Stone Memorial. Currently Not ranked in 6A.

    Vs Pearl Cohn L 41-14.

Pearl Cohn is 9-0 and Ranked #1 in 4A

    Vs Hardin County L 21-14

Hardin Co is 9-0 and Ranked #4 in 4A

    Vs Blackman L 35-12.

Blackman is 3-6, not ranked, only losing team and in arguably the toughest region in the State.

    Vs Lewis Co. L 44-26

LC is 8-1. Ranked 10th in 2A and lost to Loretto.

    Vs Crockett County W 54-47.

CC is 5-4. Not ranked and losses to Huntingdon, Haywood and Dyer Co.

    Vs Walker Valley L 21-8

WV is 7-2 not Ranked in 5A. With Losses to Bradley Central(#1 in 6A) and East Hamilton

You are late to the party about PURE, homie.  See below:

Just checking up on this week’s action and noticed highly ranked power house Lewis Co takes on what seems like a Memphis school which, has not won a game. However, their scores show close games (within seven points I think) with the exception Pearl Cohn and maybe one other team.

only in existence for a few years, has played some quality opponents. Though winless, they very well could slip in and beat Hohenwald. I don’t know much about PURE and only about Hohenwald’s tradition, but this game might actually be a good one!

Now, as far as a poor county and not affording travel, Hohenwald will schedule zero for fifty 5A Spring Hill but won’t schedule 5A Columbia even though Columbia is just down the road and they passed right by there on the way to Spring Hill. They will also schedule basketball school Obion County but will absolutely not schedule Union City. Not only that but they won’t schedule Mckenzie, Milan, Dresden or Westview even though they drove right past them on the way to Obion. I left off Lexington because they will probably have them on the upcoming schedule since they are so down. Therefore, that argument of travel doesn’t apply. There are more but those two come to mind first.

Was it a few years ago Hohenwald beat a .500 Chapel Hill team to capture the region? I noticed they aren’t on the schedule. We all just know Riverside won’t be on either the region or out of region schedule any time soon but, schools like PURE and Collinwood and Waynesboro probably will. Now that Richland has returned to the cellar, will they be scheduled next? If Loretto comes back next year and the year after, will they be moved on over into R6?

Call it what you want. You devalue Lewis and all of a sudden Milan… I guess that Growth of Williamson County hasn’t helped at all considering the last 4-5 years you talk about…. No one here in Lewis claims to be unbeatable. What is asked of these kids is to go out and compete night in and night out each Friday in the fall as we teach our kids to compete every day in life. It is probably once every 8-12 years these kids have a chance to compete for a State Title realistically. You unrealistically think a small town like Lewis county can consistently produce athletes to do this year in and year out as some of these schools like Page, TS, Indy, Summit, Brentwood, BA, etc do… These small towns can’t just load up a team in any given sport that happens to all play on the same AAU, Travel Baseball, whatever, and just call their buddies up who knows the head coach at the other HS and load up your High School team. And don’t act like it’s not happening there. My kids have played up there with some of those teams/organizations and the recruiting through the travel programs is real there. So Congratulations on your Runner up Paper-Recruiting silver trophies. Your the real hero on here.

I don’t devalue Hohenwald. That program has consistently done that on its own. All I have done is call out the extremely weak scheduling year after year for decades.

Whatever the population density is here correlates to absolutely nothing with Hohenwalds consistent weak schedules including weak regions also dating back decades. So, don’t try to flip my argument pertaining to those intentionally weak schedules year after year into excuses of why we make it to state championship games and Hohenwald not only does not but seldom if ever makes it past the second round.

As for Milan, your boy BPM decided to bring attention to them by voluntarily jumping in and coming not only after me but my schools, Page, football program. Now we have the paper champions and the paper tigers! Lol

Yes Milan changed classifications. What proof do you have that they did it to supposedly dodge competition?  Not you opinion but actual proof. I can say something 100 times but that doesn’t make it true. I’m looking forward to your proof.

    It’s called deductive reasoning.

2 things. First he talks about the football team and kids play on the football team. Second, his team would be eliminated in rd 1. He likes to poke fun at Lewis but if you take away the last couple of years Page is historically one of the worst teams in TN High School Football.

This is an exemplary example of the pot calling the kettle black. You act like paper tigers from Milan have accomplished a great deal but neglect the fact that Milan jumps classification to fray away from competition. If not for Covid, Milan hasn’t done much in forever!

  10. Loretto has faced four teams with winning records and, has won all four plus five others. They face another quality team Friday night.

For comparison, Hohenwald has only faced two teams with winning records and is 50/50 against those two. Have to add inthat they also scheduled and played a team (PURE Academy) that has only three-four wins in their entire history.

Who knows, playoffs w R6 will be the tell all. But instead of giving R6 credit for being good you can just bash how weak R5 is if they clean house or go 3-1 in the first round as predicted. Too bad Page isn’t hanging out in this weak district with Lewis anymore… They would have to sit at home as the 5 seed in this weak Region 5 and watch em all go down or at least Lewis in Round 1. Ohhh, lemme guess, they will be looking to go back to the State Championship for the 3rd year in a row….. No credit to Williamson Co for being one of the largest growing cities in the nation. I’m sure that has nothing to do with the high in-fluctuation of athletes from the growth of Travel sports in that area also…

Including the Covid year, we have had excellent seasons four out of the past five seasons including this one. Try to devalue us all you want but you can’t take away us making it to and playing in the past two 5A state championship games.

Now, I don’t know the odds but there may be a chance to reclaim the paper champion’s title Friday. Good luck!

He wishes Milan was playing Page in the first round

Hohenwald made it to the third round last year for the first time in a decade and, only the second time in the past two decades.

What was different with the program last season?

Go ahead and say it because you know you’re dying too.  I’ll say it for you.

    ”Lewis County isn’t very good.”

Have to figure out just how good MTP is and to an extent Loretto. Either R5 is the toughest ever or everyone is bad and everyone’s out of region schedule is terrible.

2022 3rd round defeated by the runner ups. Wavo. Out in the 2nd

Give credit where credit is due. Nothing about last year was traditional, including offensive scheme and coaching. If it had been, Hohenwald would have been out after the second round game, as traditionally usual.

  15. 2 hours ago, Trollin said:

@howdoitknow must have a new boyfriend from Loretto since he has obviously jumped on the band wagon of paper champions. Lewis held that title for decades. Undefeated in regular season and out by 2nd round of playoffs

Last year was an anomaly, for sure. I wonder if they go back to tradition and exit after round two. Wonder if they even make it to round two. According to some on here, R6 is so advanced, they can put all of the R5 teams out in the first round.

I was at the Waverly Loretto game. As i said in a previous thread, both teams are decent but not great. Waverly has struggles with containment and coverage. Loretta has a decent running game and a decent Defense. Just my opinion but after what ive seen from the west and middle Tennessee, Loretto will not be able to hang with the top 3 out of the west. Have a good week.

For some, I think, the demand lies with a good W/L season record and a regional championship. Not much for successful runs in the playoffs, as an important measure for success.

Then, there are some who bounce between classifications shying away from competition to try and find the easiest route through the playoffs.

  17. 5 hours ago, FootballFanatic12345 said:

Can you ever just give some kids some credit? They had a long road trip got off the bus and handled business. Your team couldn’t do something you thought they could so you want to go an bash another team.

They might not be “that good” but they still have a 0 in the loss column so they must have something figured out.

    5 hours ago, vandyfan1 said:

Let me rephrase that. Loretto is 9-0 for a reason they earned that. Have they won against top competition no they haven’t. Loretto was better and made the plays this past Friday I’m not taking anything from their record nor their victory over  us. Im just comparing them to R6 and really good teams in the past. Loretto is a decent team that I don’t think will make it very far in the playoffs. But who would playing Region 6.

    2 hours ago, FastEddieDavis said:

    They aren’t very good.

Loretto does deserve some credit, however. They are undefeated, so far and, have played teams with decent to good records. They took on and beat the powerhouse team from Hohenwald that is ALWAYS ranked in the top 10 in the state and ALWAYS makes the playoffs. Then, the traveled to and beat a program in Waverly that has much success over the years, especially in the playoffs.

Maybe R6 is vastly better than R5. That will be made available beginning in two weeks but, to try to devalue a team that’s played what seems to be quality competition and remain undefeated is not cool. Especially if that team beat your team.

If the beat MTP next week, lookout!

  18. Since Loretto is “Back”, if they maintain this year’s dominance next year and Chapel Hill doesn’t improve to be what they were, will Loretto be kicked out of R5 and replaced with Chapel Hill?

Pretty sure Riverside will not be placed in Hohenwalds region any time in the near future.

May even note that even though they are fairly close distance wise and in the same region that they won’t be on the out of region regular season schedule either.

Now, the big question is, does the new coach have the same T$$AA pull as the former?
