  1. Region 1-AAA girls semifinals tonight at Daniel Boone: Sevier County vs. Dobyns-Bennett Science Hill vs. Daniel Boone With Cherokee giving the Bearettes all they wanted on Friday night, I can't see D-B losing to them, but who knows? I'm sure the Trailblazer student section will be out in full force tonight inside Bobby Snyder gymnasium. This has all the makings of a huge upset, but I believe the Lady Hilltoppers prevail in the end.
  2. Region 1-AAA semifinals Tuesday 2/26/2019: Sevier County vs. Science Hill Dobyns-Bennett vs. Morristown East Beating a good team three times in one season is a hard thing to do, and that is what D-B is faced with on Tuesday night. As for the second semifinal, I have no clue what to expect
  3. Here's my Region 1 picks (note I will probably fail miserably and y'all can make fun of this old Virginia boy, Lol): Quarterfinals: Dobyns-Bennett over Morristown West Morristown East over Daniel Boone Tennessee High over Sevier County Science Hill over South Doyle Semifinals: Dobyns-Bennett over Morristown East Tennessee High over Science Hill Finals: Dobyns-Bennett over Tennessee High I really had a hard time with TH and SC... I went back and forth over that one quite a bit. The Vikings have definitely shown that they're capable by beating D-B during the regular season. However, they had an awful district tournament showing, which is why I feel like they're probably ready to rebound and hit an upswing this week. Really looking forward to the tournaments getting underway tomorrow.
  4. Thanks for the input. I'm very much in agreement with you, except I will take the Hill to win the region. My predictions are this: Science Hill over Morristown West Daniel Boone over Morristown East Sevier County over Cherokee Jefferson County over Dobyns Bennett Semifinals: Science Hill over Daniel Boone Jefferson County over Sevier County Finals: Science Hill over Jefferson County
  5. Boys District 1-AAA Tournament results: Dobyns-Bennett Science Hill Daniel Boone Tennessee High Boys District 2-AAA tournament results: Sevier County Morristown East South Doyle Morristown West Region 1-AAA tournament quarterfinals Saturday: (1-1) Dobyns-Bennett vs. (2-4) Morristown West (2-2) Morristown East vs. (1-3) Daniel Boone (1-2) Science Hill vs. (2-3) South Doyle (2-1) Sevier County vs. (1-4) Tennessee High Any thoughts or predictions? I believe Sevier County came from pretty much out of nowhere to win District 2. D-B went 5-0 against District 2 during the regular season (2x vs. Morristown East, 2x vs. Jefferson County, Morristown West) Daniel Boone went 1-2 (beat South Doyle, lost to both Morristowns) Science Hill went 0-2 (lost x2 to Morristown East) Tennessee High went 0-1 (lost to Morristown East)
  6. D-B is very hit or miss most nights. They either play outstanding as they did against Cherokee Friday night or they play horribly as they did last night. I believe Science Hill is the better team, but they're not 22 points better as they were last night.
  7. Region 1-AAA bracket is set after tonight's results. Quarterfinals are on Friday. (1-1) Science Hill vs. (2-4) Morristown East (2-2) Morristown West vs. (1-3) Daniel Boone (1-2) Dobyns Bennett vs. (2-3) Jefferson County (2-1) Sevier County vs. (1-4) Cherokee
  8. First round, Monday, February 11: 6 Volunteer 42 vs. 7 Tennessee High 46 Second Round, Wednesday, February 13: 3 Daniel Boone 46 vs. 7 Tennessee High 23 4 Cherokee 42 vs. 5 David Crockett 37 Semifinals, Friday, February 15: 1 Dobyns-Bennett vs. 4 Cherokee 2 Science Hill vs. 3 Daniel Boone Finals, Monday, February 18: 1/4 Loser vs. 2/3 Loser 1/4 Winner vs. 2/3 Winner
  9. First round, Monday, February 11: 6 Volunteer 42 vs. 7 Tennessee High 46 Second Round, Wednesday, February 13: 3 Daniel Boone vs. 7 Tennessee High 4 Cherokee vs. 5 David Crockett Semifinals, Friday, February 15: 1 Dobyns-Bennett vs. 4/5 Winner 2 Science Hill vs. 3/6/7 Winner Finals, Monday, February 18: 1/4/5 Winner vs. 2/3/6/7 Winner
  10. I'm excited to follow my first Tennessee postseason. Especially excited to follow D-B as I think they have a good shot to at least win the Region and host a sub-state game. I, like everyone else who has commented thus far, think Bearden is the team to beat after seeing them in the Arby's. Pretty stoked though.
  11. You're spot on. Did you see the game with Elizabethton on Saturday night? Whitson was outscoring them by herself at halftime I believe. One player can't do it all in the postseason. D-B definitely needs another player to step up or they will be one and done in the region I am afraid. Is the region tournament seedings based on the district tournament finish, meaning the winner of the district tournament gets the top seed in region?
  12. District 1 Finals from 2/8/2019: Science Hill 74, Cherokee 70 OT Tennessee High 63, Daniel Boone 49 Dobyns-Bennett 80, Volunteer 37 David Crockett 59, Unicoi County 52 (non district) Game for February 9, 2019 Dobyns-Bennett at Elizabethton (non district) District 1 standings as of 2/5/2019: Dobyns-Bennett 11-1, 25-3 Tennessee High 9-3, 23-7 Science Hill 8-4, 13-15 Daniel Boone 6-6, 11-12 Cherokee 3-9, 9-18 David Crockett 3-9, 6-20 Volunteer 2-10, 6-21 From what I have heard, Cherokee won the coin toss over David Crockett, so the bracket for next week's tournament should look something like this: First Round 1 Dobyns-Bennett (bye) 4 Daniel Boone vs. 5 Cherokee 3 Science Hill vs. 6 David Crockett 2 Tennessee High vs. 7 Volunteer Semifinals 1 Dobyns-Bennett vs. 4/5 Winner 2/7 Winner vs. 3/6 Winner Finals 1/4/5 Winner vs. 2/3/6/7 Winner
  13. District 1 standings after 2/5/2019 games Dobyns-Bennett 11-1, 25-5 Science Hill 11-1, 25-3 Daniel Boone 8-4, 20-9 Cherokee 5-7, 17-10 David Crockett 4-8, 9-16 Volunteer 2-10, 6-21 Tennessee High 1-11, 7-21 Friday, February 8 finals: Science Hill 74, Cherokee 46 Daniel Boone 59, Tennessee High 36 Dobyns-Bennett 65, Volunteer 43 Unicoi County 60, David Crockett 43 (non district) Saturday, February 9 Dobyns-Bennett at Elizabethton (non district) The district slate of the schedule is complete after tonight's games. D-B won the coin toss with Science Hill to get the number 1 seed. If what @LINEDAD posted on another thread in the boys forum is correct, then the bracket will look like this: First round: 6 Volunteer vs. 7 Tennessee High Second Round: 3 Daniel Boone vs. 6/7 Winner 4 Cherokee vs. 5 David Crockett Semifinals: 1 Dobyns-Bennett vs. 4/5 Winner 2 Science Hill vs. 3/6/7 Winner Finals: 1/4/5 Winner vs. 2/3/6/7 Winner
  14. Blake Atwood of Johnson County is a finalist in D1-AA as well.
  15. You may be right. Boone should've beat D-B in the Dome last Friday night. I'm a D-B fan, but they got two very questionable calls/no calls in the final minute Friday night to pull it out. They haven't been the same since Johnson went down with that injury. Even though she is back playing now, her minutes are being very limited to about 5-8 minutes per game. Since she is only a sophomore, I believe, I can see why she is being limited because she still has two more good years ahead of her. But, they play much better when she is on the floor being the good inside post presence that she is.
  16. I was just going by what someone told me how the brackets worked in previous years. I'm actually new to the Tennessee side as far as high school sports go. Lol. I would've thought the way you've described the bracket as being the correct way as well. Do you know how D-B and Science Hill girls tiebreaker for first will be settled since it looks like it will finish that way?
  17. District 1 scores from 2/5/2019: Dobyns-Bennett 62, Tennessee High 42 Cherokee 67, David Crockett 52 Daniel Boone 56, Volunteer 39 Elizabethton 69, Science Hill 65 (non district) District 1 standings as of 2/5/2019: Dobyns-Bennett 10-1, 24-3 Tennessee High 8-3, 22-7 Science Hill 7-4, 12-15 Daniel Boone 6-5, 11-11 Cherokee 3-8, 9-17 David Crockett 3-9, 6-19 Volunteer 2-9, 6-20 Friday 2/8/2019 games: Volunteer at Dobyns-Bennett Science Hill at Cherokee Tennessee High at Daniel Boone David Crockett at Unicoi County (non district) D-B clinched the regular season title and number 1 seed in the district tournament by beating Tennessee High last night. All of the seeds from 2-7 could still be shuffled somewhat though. Assuming favorites win on Friday, the district tournament will probably look something like this: First round: 6 Cherokee/DC vs. 7 Volunteer Second round: 3 Science Hill vs. 6/7 winner 4 Daniel Boone vs. 5 Cherokee/DC Semifinals: 1 Dobyns-Bennett vs. 4/5 winner 2 Tennessee High vs. 3/6/7 winner Finals: 1/4/5 winner vs. 2/3/6/7 winner
  18. Dobyns-Bennett beat Tennessee High 62-42 last night and clinched the District 1 regular season title.
  19. District 1 scores from 2/5/2019: Daniel Boone 58, Volunteer 44 David Crockett 38, Cherokee 36 Dobyns-Bennett 48, Tennessee High 21 Science Hill 59, Elizabethton 46 (non district) District 1 standings after 2/5/2019 games Science Hill 10-1, 24-3 Dobyns-Bennett 10-1, 24-5 Daniel Boone 7-4, 19-9 Cherokee 5-6, 17-9 David Crockett 4-8, 9-15 Volunteer 2-9, 6-20 Tennessee High 1-10, 7-20 Friday, February 8 Science Hill at Cherokee Tennessee High at Daniel Boone Volunteer at Dobyns-Bennett David Crockett at Unicoi County (non district) Even though 6 of the 7 schools still have one game remaining in conference, David Crockett's upset of Cherokee last night sees the district tournament bracket is all but set. Only thing left to be decided is who will be the 1 seed and 2 seed as it's a virtual lock both D-B and Science Hill will win Friday, it looks like the 1 and 2 seed will be determined by coin toss since they split head to head. Bracket will look something like this I believe: First round 6 Volunteer vs. 7 Tennessee High Second Round 3 Daniel Boone vs. 6/7 Winner 4 Cherokee vs. 5 David Crockett Semifinals 1 DB/SH vs. 4/5 winner 2 DB/SH vs. 3/6/7 winner Finals 1/4/5 winner vs. 2/3/6/7 winner
  20. I've updated the District 1 standings in the post above. In District 1, the top 2 seeds get a double bye in the tournament meaning they lock up automatic region bids, so D-B and Tennessee High are locked in at this point.
  21. District 1 scores over the past week: Monday, January 28 Cherokee 65, Gibbs 54 (non district) Wednesday, January 30 Tennessee High 69, David Crockett 56 Science Hill 79, Volunteer 44 Thursday, January 31 Dobyns-Bennett 67, Cherokee 47 Friday, February 1 Dobyns-Bennett 73, Daniel Boone 40 Science Hill 77, David Crockett 52 Tennessee High 75, Volunteer 47 Saturday, February 2 Cherokee 59, Red Bird (KY) 34 (non district) Dobyns-Bennett 72, Elizabethton 46 (non district) Tennessee High 99, Virginia High (VA) 44 (non district) District 1 standings as of 1/28/2019: Dobyns-Bennett 9-1, 23-3 Tennessee High 8-2, 22-6 Science Hill 7-4, 12-14 Daniel Boone 5-5, 10-11 David Crockett 3-8, 6-18 Volunteer 2-8, 6-19 Cherokee 2-8, 8-17 District 1 schedule for week of 2/4/2019-2/9/2019 Tuesday, February 5 David Crockett at Cherokee Tennessee High at Dobyns-Bennett Elizabethton at Science Hill (non district) Friday, February 8 Science Hill at Cherokee Tennessee High at Daniel Boone Volunteer at Dobyns-Bennett David Crockett at Unicoi County (non district) Saturday, February 9 Dobyns-Bennett at Elizabethton (non district) The biggest district game of the season goes down tomorrow night at the Buck Van Huss Dome between D-B and Tennessee High. The Vikings beat the Tribe in the earlier meeting in Bristol. A win by the Indians secures the district regular season title. A win by the Vikings and Friday's game with Daniel Boone becomes a huge game to determine if the Vikings win or lose the district. Other key games are Cherokee and Crockett. Crockett needs a win to avoid the opening round 6-7 game in the tournament. Elizabethton beat Science Hill in Carter County the first go round. D-B beat Elizabethton soundly in Kingsport this past Saturday, can the Cyclones return the favor in Carter County this Saturday in the regular season finale?
  22. Not sure how Daniel Boone can host this district as well as District 1-AAA as well?
  23. District 1 scores from the past week: Monday January 28 Cherokee 74, Gibbs 34 (non district) Wednesday, January 30 Tennessee High 48, David Crockett 47 2OT Science Hill 61, Volunteer 21 Thursday, January 31 Dobyns-Bennett 59, Cherokee 35 Friday, February 1 Dobyns-Bennett 43, Daniel Boone 40 Science Hill 70, David Crockett 25 Volunteer 42, Tennessee High 38 Saturday, February 2 Cherokee 71, Red Bird (KY) 23 (non district) Dobyns-Bennett 48, Elizabethton 35 (non district) Virginia High (VA) 53, Tennessee High 39 (non district) District 1 standings after 2/2/2019 games Science Hill 10-1, 23-3 Dobyns-Bennett 9-1, 23-5 Daniel Boone 6-4, 18-9 Cherokee 5-5, 17-8 David Crockett 3-8, 8-15 Volunteer 2-8, 6-19 Tennessee High 1-10, 7-19 District 1 schedule for week of 2/4/2019-2/9/2019 Tuesday, February 5 David Crockett at Cherokee Tennessee High at Dobyns-Bennett Elizabethton at Science Hill (non district) Friday, February 8 Science Hill at Cherokee Tennessee High at Daniel Boone Volunteer at Dobyns-Bennett David Crockett at Unicoi County (non district) Saturday, February 9 Dobyns-Bennett at Elizabethton (non district) Final week of the regular season and there is really no marquee games on the slate this week. D-B and Science Hill remain tied atop the standings and both should finish off the regular season with ease.
  24. I've heard a coach from southwest Virginia was in the running as well. An assistant coach on his staff was the one who told me this, so I have no reason to doubt him.
