  1. Any word on how the 7 on 7 went today?
  2. You can go anywhere in the state that is open zoned, which the majority are. That’s what I meant. Thanks for clearing up the technicality.
  3. The only way you can go and not move into the zone you plan to attend, is if you do so before your clock has started, i.e. after middle school or before your freshman year. You can go anywhere in the state and not move if you want to then.
  4. That’s fantastic news. I’m ready to see him in Red and on the field! A current player told me that the buzz in the field house is that it’s all but certain that he will start. Exciting times!
  5. I would love to see them go to field turf. And also maybe renovate the press box a little. We have a nice stadium, but a few minor improvements would make the facility really shine.
  6. I’m not positive. I did hear they were adding onto the field house. That may be it
  7. That was the plan. There was some drama around it from a few, so I’m not sure that it’ll get done. At least this year.
  8. For sure. They’re going to have to at times. The run game is going to be so very important this season (and every season but especially this season) breaking in a new QB. Nice to have so many rushers returning. Once the OL held look out!
  9. That will be a huge addition. There will prob be a little bit of an acclimation period for him to get back used to football, but I fully expect him to help this team. I’ll tell you, it’s a good problem to have, but I don’t know how you get all these skill guys enough touches. I could see a couple of those backs get reps in the slot and wideout spots. Because there’s seriously 5-6 backs that will be deserving of carries.
  10. We all love new exciting players, especially quarterbacks. I’m excited for him as well as the rest of the team. And in our defense, we’ve talked about several other players in this thread also. I hope the kid comes here and does well. I also hope whoever the best QB is, is the one that wins the job. And I have no doubt that will be the case, as it will be with all positions. With the stable of backs we have, and Odoms emerging as a superstar, the offense should be tough to stop. Losses on the OL and on defense worry me some, but I’m confident they’ll figure it out. I still say come playoff time, this will be a completely different team than what we’ll see at the start of the season. I expect to make a deep run. But I am somewhat of an optimist.
  11. Look, I get what you’re doing. You’re taking up for our own, and that’s a great thing. Maybe we have went a little overboard talking about this kid, but if he and his family come to HC, he’s one of our own too, and we take up for our own right? I don’t remember anyone saying anything bad about Bona in this thread. All we did was compare the two. Let’s not stoop to talking about the incoming kid’s athleticism and arm strength. I don’t think he’ll be close to either one of these, but Brady and Manning neither one are elite athletes or have overly strong arms. You don’t have to be either as a QB in our offense. I would almost guarantee the coaches could careless what we think, and they will put the best option in there that they think will win ball games. I talked to a parent that’s seen him throw recently, and they said he stood on the 40 and threw it through the goal post. That’s 50 yards as an 8th grader, I’d say that’s plenty of arm strength. We have at least 8 really good options on offense, I hope neither QB ever has to run for a yard. I’m all for taking up for our own, but if they come then they’re part of the family in my book. Don’t forget the Bona’s aren’t originally from HC either, they just happened to come a little earlier in life than the Damron’s.
  12. I’ve heard the same and I don’t think they’re trying to hide it. Like I said, I don’t see anything wrong with what they’re doing, he made this team as a Martin athlete. Plus there’s other players involved as well. I don’t see the issue. Sounds like someone stirring the pot a little to me.
  13. If we Henry Countians know he’s coming, I’m pretty sure the people of Martin know he’s leaving. Either way I don’t see the big deal. You make this all-star team due to your performance on the field right? Which he would’ve done as a member of their Jr High team.
  14. Don’t see what it matters really. He’s still technically a Martin athlete at this point, and I assume the other 3 players are staying put in Martin right? I don’t see how anyone over there could blame the kid for leaving under the circumstances. The person I talked to about him a few days back said everyone knew he was gone. Either way, I’m glad we are getting him.
  15. I can see this as well. Very good analysis. I think we drop a tough one to Beech on the road, and win 1 of 2 against Brentwood and Germantown. Both will be very tough matchups but I just think we’ll be better mid season, barring any key injuries, than we will be at the start. Especially with several new starters, including quarterback.
  16. Says HC when I look at it? I don’t think there’s anything to worry about there, from what I’ve been told he’s 100% solid to us.
  17. I see it almost the same as you, except I think we drop a close one to Beech on the road, and squeak out a win against Brentwood on our home turf. By that point in the season we really should be rolling, and hopefully the new QB, whichever one it is, is settled in and leading the team by then. Two tough games on the road to start the year will pay dividends against Brentwood and others later in the season I think. Go Big Red!
  18. Would love to see same way too early predictions. Either game by game or just a season record guess. Who’s in?
  19. That’s a whole lot of talent right there! Would definitely be nice to see. I doubt Bona goes down without a fight though. Hopefully the competition pushes both of them to play their best. You reaffirming what I heard though makes me think Damron will be hard to beat out. If they’re remotely close in all categories you have to roll with the freshman that has the higher ceiling.
  20. I promise I’m not stalking you, haha. I believe they graduated around 30ish seniors. That’s a lot of talent and leadership gone. Not to mention losing their head coach. They will have talent coming back though, they always do.
  21. Wow. That’s big time!! I saw where he also made the Tennessee future stars team, as did Zamariyon Kendall. That will be a heck of a one-two punch for years to come.
  22. Talked to an Inman kid last night that knows him. He said they were all excited that he was coming. Also said the kid has been catching a lot of flak for leaving Martin. So let’s make sure we welcome him with open arms over here and make him part of the family. Kid also told me about a big lineman that was transferring to Grove next year from middle TN. Said he was a really good player. That freshman class is going to be something else!
  23. That’s great info. So he’s not your typical freshman then I’m guessing? Have you seen him play as well? I’ve heard nothing but positive things about him.
