    Staff set yet?

My sources have been pretty quiet at the Dog House. They have not seen much of Josh. I’m assuming that’s because he doesn’t work in the school. There was a rumor that he is deciding on a DC with a couple candidates from local schools.

I am wondering the same thing but if Kevin Lane wants the job I think they will do it then, but I highly doubt he will take it if offered.

At this point, Kevin certainly has an argument. I understand he has been a finalist for jobs and was always told he couldn't be the HFC because of his lack of teaching credentials. Obviously, the Bearden debacle has changed all of that you would think in KCS and maybe he will get his shot now that they have opened the flood gates to hire whomever regardless of background.

  3. The biggest question here in my opinion is do they follow the Bearden model and hire someone that is not a certified teacher. I hope it is Coach Hughes, great teacher, alum and community member. I just wonder if this will be given to any random guy that wants to coach like Bearden did.

Tough to imagine anyone will. Apparently those issues haven't occurred to the hiring committee.

From what I have been told by people close to the situation, the hiring committee was/is (is the search even over or just starting?) a who's who of random people that was a revolving door of personalities. It doesn't sound like it was very organized or much of a vision so I imagine the fine details of what it takes to run a program got lost in the mix.

They let you choose which kids you take on transfer in Knoxville?

I think building level administration has some say in who they take if they have room. Ultimately that falls on central office, but I could be wrong. I know it’s tough at a school with maxed out capacity like Bearden.

From what I hear, Jones confirmed to several folks that he got the job. If what I am hearing is correct, it sounds messy. As a long time West fan, pardon if I chuckle a bit.

Wow, this is interesting. I will be very surprised if central office approves the hire of an AAU coach. What happened to the days of coaches being involved in the school?

I’m sure he could always cancel the interview. I heard Scott Cummings was going to OR with Rang as his DC.

Not familiar with your background in the area but the OR I am talking about is Oak Ridge. You don't cancel on Oak Ridge, my friend. It's one of the best coaching jobs in the state and a much better position than perennial underachiever, Bearden.

I heard the same timeline, just that there were three. Guess we will see who they pick on Friday.

If that is indeed the correct timeline then I doubt the hire will be Rusty Bradley because the info I have been told is he plans to interview with OR later in the week.

.....and I may have missed something but why aren't the assistant coaches running the weight program? They are still the assistant coaches until the new coach tells them they are no longer needed. Isn't that part of their coaching supplement responsibilities?

As I have stated throughout this thread, it is rather unlikely that a current member of the dogs assistant coaching staff is promoted due to their lackluster performance over the past few years. You simply do not promote people from a 4-6 team. If one of them were to think he was the man, he probably would've shown initiative and gotten them started back in the weight room by now. I imagine that the assistants have already moved on and explored other coaching opportunities elsewhere.

I did not ask the AD, I asked you.  I understand the KCS limitations and the lack of faith in the Bearden admin, but you seem knowledgeable about this so I want to hear your top candidates.

    Mine would be:

    1. Gaddis

    2. Meadows

    3. Rosser

Who would be the top candidates on your list?

Buddy this is high school football in KCS. AD's don't have short lists. They post the job, people apply, they interview, they pick someone that matched the teaching positions available and life goes on. They ain't hiring Bradley or Jones. It would be plain stupid to hire a HFC that doesn't teach at the school. Where else in KCS is that the case?

  12. Ah yes, another day passes and another day that Bearden falls behind HVA, Farragut, and West. Now the question becomes, who makes a hire first Bearden or Notre Dame? Maybe the BHS admin are waiting on their man Josh Jones to finish up his run with the Panthers so he can replicate some of his 2018 success at CAK. Or Maybe Rusty will burn a bridge at his fourth place and come take over the reigns.

No offense indended, but I will trust a person actually part of the process of hiring a new football coach.

If it is true that BHS has named an interim than who is it? Even though I know for a fact through a friend that this is not the case. Your sources are incorrect, HTV.

  14. 4 minutes ago, HTV said:

    Don't assume.

Bearden has an interim in place until a new coach is hired, and I am hearing that will likely be next week.

This is not factual information. There has been no "interim" named and there are zero football operations taking place right now.

  15. HVA Football released on Twitter that they plan to begin off-season workouts on Wednesday, 12/1. Meanwhile, Bearden is yet to name a coach and I am assuming their players have been left in the dark and are falling behind. I foresee Bearden becoming (if not already) the #4 school in West Knoxville public.

    1. Knox West

    2. Farragut

    3. Hardin Valley (at least they have a coach and plan for workouts)

    4. Bearden

  16. How has Bearden not made a hire yet? Their coach resigned on November 1st, correct? This week is the Final Four of the playoffs so most prospective candidate's current seasons are over or will be in the next 10 days. I understand that committee has brought in local candidates and some guys that have been out of coaching for a year or two. I just wonder if they will have someone hired before winter break.

    What I'm hearing from my perch at West High;

Josh Jones is the leading candidate, would simplify issues as far as faculty congestion, and would serve as a "splashy" offensive hire. Also word is Brad Taylor & Rusty Bradley are interviewing sometime at the beginning of the week. First interviews start today.

I am also hearing a lot of the same. An unfortunate situation if they hire Jones, IMO. Could end up a train wreck. Will have to wait and see. Lots of info being spilled now that they have assembled their hiring committee. Not exactly an air tight committee as far as spilling gossip.
