  1. That's just the timeline I have been hearing. Hoping for the best for him though because he is a senior. Hate to see any senior have to miss ball games.
  2. I'm not positive but I am hearing he hyperextended his knee and its going to be 1-2 weeks. Should be back for Fannin County and definitely for S Pitt if that's the case.
  3. I think this one will be close for a good bit of the game but CB will pull away late. Central is not a bad football team from what I've seen on them. The only bad loss I see on their schedule is against Tellico. I saw them against Meigs and if that was the same team that played against Tellico I have no idea how they lost. Anyways, Central's power run game isn't bad at all. I can see it giving the cougars a little trouble early on. The Basin D will find a way to slow them down eventually though. Also, it might take the Basin offense a drive or two to get in sync with a new man under center, but I think after he gets a few snaps and some nerves worked out he can get the job done, I have no doubt. Plus, the little bowling ball at running back can take a good amount of the load for the offense. With that being said, I'm taking the cougars, 26-13 in this one. Go Cougars! Find a way and get to 7-0!
  4. Yeah that’s the game I saw sp play. Definitely a good ball team, not slighting them at all.
  5. Just wanted to clarify, I’m not saying we are the #2 team in the state. We have a good ball team but I haven’t seen enough of everyone else to say. I have no clue what’s out west. I will definitely say south pitt has that top spot until someone knocks them off. But I have seen south Pitt and I will say they aren’t the south pitt I’m used to seeing. A lot of speed though. ALOT! Btw, ball game...final, 21-0 basin
  6. Without qb. He hasn’t been in since about 6 minutes left in the second quarter. Second string qb rarely ever gets any practice reps so Ofcoarse the offense has been a little rusty after the injury but he’ll be okay with some reps under his belt. It was 15-0 at the end of 1 and the defense has played well all night so I mean it is what it is I guess lol
  7. 15-0 basin at the half. Grawboski got injured about mid 2nd quarter on a drive. I’m not positive what is hurt but looked like he may have tweaked his knee possibly. He was putting weight on it walking off the field so I think he will be fine. Had a dropped touchdown pass shortly after that on the same drive but stalled out after that. Defense will be able to win this game for us, regardless. Thoughts going out for the senior qb. Hope all is well with him.
  8. This GW bunch will no doubt be the best football team Copper Basin has seen this year by far, from what I’ve seen. But also from what I’ve seen on them, basin will be the best team they’ve seen all year as well. Neither team has played a lot of good competition til this point (even though I’ll give GFC their dues, they played us very well). I don’t think GW is of the same level as SP however. I haven’t seen the pirates yet this year but if they are their usual selves or better then GW isn’t of the same caliber. But, they are a good football team so this will be a great opportunity to see where our cougars are. Go Big Red!
  9. When you look at the scores of their first two ball games, one would think they had a solid defense. But after watching the films,I see they were up against pretty inept offenses. I think basins offense will have a few more athletes than what they’ve seen from McMinn Central and sequoyah. I think the basin defense, coming off a shutout, will be feeling good and ready to go again. I’m gonna go with the cougars 36-12 in this one and moving on to 4-0 for the first time since 2010!
  10. Welp, just pulled into the camp here. Not a bad little place to play. Isn’t much as far as seating goes but overall a nice venue. As I said earlier in the week, the key is gonna be stopping SC’s qb. The offense is on that kids back. More concerned of what he does when he pulls the ball down and runs than his air attack. Our line backers are gonna have to react up quickly and we have to keep him contained with our edge rush. I hope our staff has preached that to the boys all week. My prediction is sale creek will manage to get in the end zone a few times but it won’t be enough. Cougars take this one 46-20. Service is spotty here. I will do my best to send in updates. Everybody have a great night of high school football. Go Big Red!
  11. Sale Creek’s qb (#2) is everything for them from what I seen in the Jackson co. film. Very quick and elusive. He is 99% of their offense. Definitely more of a threat with his legs but can hit open receivers down the field which could be bad news for the cougars if we don’t straighten up the secondary. Was not impressed with the sale creek defense. I believe we should be able to move the ball pretty well on them. Key to the game is contain #2. Honestly would suggest using an inside backer to spy the kid. If the cougars can keep him in check, it should be another mark in the win column.
  12. Cougars are gonna squeak this one out in a narrow victory 14-12. Have to give GFC some credit. They are a much better team than what you would think hearing “home school bunch.” By no means am I calling them world beaters though. The cougars have a lot of work to do. Still proud of the boys for playing hard and pulling out a win in a tough game. As always, a win is a win no matter how you come by it. 2-0 cougars!
  13. GFC with a big punt return, connected on a few passes and gets into the endzone. Costly unsportsmanlike like on the score backs them up for the two point conversation attempt. Failed to get in. 14-12 basin. 8:23 to go
  14. They are not chopped liver. They are an average team. They have some decent athletes. They are having trouble connecting in the passing game or they would probably be up by a score. They are sound defensively. Honestly, its just two pretty evenly matched teams in a battle. Hope the cougars can hold on for this last quarter.
  15. Cougars are very lucky that GFC is not accurate down field. We have been burnt multiple times tonight in the secondary.
  16. That Robbinsville score convinced me to do a little more looking into this GFC bunch. 62-27 against robbinsville and 40-9 against Murphy, last year. Both blowouts, but if we are being honest, it’s respectable for a home school bunch against two powers in North Carolina. Depending on what they return this season, this game could be a little more interesting than what we are thinking. We don’t know if that 27 points against RHS came in garbage time against the JV squad, but they may be able to put some points on the board. We will see. Even so, if it’s a shootout, I like the cougars chances of having the better offense and getting more stops on D.
  17. This one should be a tune up week for the cougars. Clear up mistakes from last week, stay focused and sharpen up on everything. Good opportunity to give some new plays or formations a test run. This one will get ugly in a hurry as long as the boys stay focused and don’t overlook this bunch. Handle business, stay healthy and get to 2-0. Cougars by as many as they want!
