You boys really upset Erin. She then stooped to this level of responding with a novel. A very unfortunate series of events.

You sound like a real winner in life. I imagine your mom still tucks you into bed every night & cuts up your hot dogs & chicken strips before you eat so you don’t choke on them. You are one of the many reasons these forums are now such a side show. Your classlessness is showing, although I’m sure you don’t care. Loser.

I'm going to comment on Shockers post.I know him and LC 68.Both know Coach Puckett very well.Especially 68 in my opinion.I know what he meant.Coach Puckett did a great job.LC football was strong in the 8os. 2000,s.Great coaches during the years.Lake Co had a great coach in the probably late 60,s and early 70,s when Coach Wooten was there.Great coach.Ive seen more sports ,football and basketball than any person still alive. But I'm sure there were many reasons behind the scenes.Players seemed to like Coach Puckett. But to say and give a speech in front of hundreds, that LC could have more championships if players didnt leave for Dyer Co.,Dyersburg,Obion Central. That LC is special. They won a state championship with just over 200 students. That he turned down a coaching job in Georgia. That LC was  home. Its special. That parents need to stay home in Lake Co.That this is home. That the grass isnt greener on the other side. Then 2 or 3 weeks later he left.So the grass must have been greener. But yet he questioned parents from previous years. So I would think it was about money. Not blaming him to do what's best for his family. So if that's the case, why question parents if they think their kids may get a scholarship or better education?I still have the video on what was said that day.So I know Shocker wasnt responding about what Coach Puckett did.But like 68 said.He did a great job.But he  wasnt the first.Coach Wooten,Coach Sturdivant,Coach Baker,Coach Barger all did great things

You said a mouthful. I too still have the video that you speak of as I was there in person for that great speech. Everything he said was truthful. You want to go here, let’s do it. Yes he turned down an amazing opportunity & MUCH more money with the job offer for GA before leading those young men from LC to a state championship title. 15-0 season. I won’t waste your time by listing the playoff appearances made during his tenure. I will tell you simply this....The decision to take the Shelbyville job was never about the money. It will never be about that for him no matter how much you try to keep that narrative spinning. The corruption & complete lack of support from “ some” in that county & administration, the people who couldn’t wait to see him stumble or fall,  is what drove that family away. I can name plenty of names, but I will take the high road & won’t stoop to that level. That man has put his heart & soul into the young men he’s coached, & his career.  After 7 years, enough was enough. He did what was best for his family & that’s that. Period. I can also tell you, the amount of love & true support Coach Puckett & his family have had in Shelbyville since day one has been eye opening. I’m done responding to you people who choose to constantly bash & try to make him out to be the opposite of  who he is as a human being. You don’t know him, & unfortunately for you, you  will never get that chance to. Your loss.

Blessed are the peacemakers. I appreciate a man who can be honest and represent the program, the fans, the outgoing staff, and the current coaches at the same time without being two faced... it's sometimes hard to do. Not trying to put my nose where it doesn't belong, but we've been there. People need to realize that a coach doing what's best for his family doesn't equate to betrayal, and that a fan putting that in the past and showing support for the current staff instead of comparing them to a state champion is exactly what is needed for the program. Coach Stroup took us from nothing to a state contender in four years, then left for USJ. We were not a stepping stone for him, but the opportunity came for him to allow his wife to be near her family, earn a better paycheck, and have a constant flow of talent from a large city at his disposal. He left us far better than he found us, and I know how hard it was for him to leave the people who he loved here, and loved him in return.

To mamabear, I applaud your defense of a good man and coach... I've done the same a couple of times when folks don't understand that choosing to move on is as hard for the coach as it is for the program that he built up and considers his own.

@tradertwoThank you for your kind words & honesty. Some things just need to be said. Josh, like many of the great coaches out there, doesn’t need me to come to his defense by any means, the true testimony to how much a coach impacts young lives is in the rock solid, supportive relationships they build with their players that last long after football is over & watching those same young men become amazing husbands, fathers & men. I can promise you Coach Puckett wouldn’t waste his time reading what these knuckleheads have to say about him on this thread or lose any sleep over their opinion of him. What speaks louder than any of his bitter haters is the number of his former players standing on the sidelines in Shelbyville last night supporting their coach & celebrating who he is to them. I’m sure you can relate. Thanks again for understanding where I was coming from & for your support.

Lol you took that all wrong!

No sir. You typed it, even if it was meant to come off as funny in your mind, it was disrespectful, so I simply brought some truths to your attention. I get trash talk, but some things cross the line. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from & maybe in the future choose your words a bit more wisely. You weren’t the only one throwing some shade, & I hope the others also consider the things I have said.

Another thing I would like to clarify. Lake County football is bigger than any coach. Lake County has a pround football tradition. LC has been good in every decade since the 60's. David Barger is actually the coach that changed the culture of Lake County football in 2002. He came in to LC after the schools only 0 and 10 season and got LC back on track. He very well should have won the title in 2006.  I am in no way trying to diminish Coach Pucketts accomplishments. He was great here and was great for Lake County. LC has been blessed with many good coaches over the years. They all have contributed to the culture of LC. Coach Puckett will always be remembered for what he did here but don't think LC was nothing before Coach Puckett. I really enjoyed the Puckett family being here and getting to know them but it is time to move on.

I would never be the kind of person that would try to take away from or minimize the successes of any other Coach. I’m very aware of the rich history within the football program at LC, & the great success Coach Barger had. I agree that Coach Barger is & will always be legendary, as he deserves to be. I personally know some of Coach Barger’s former players & let me just say that the impact he had on them & the  way they feel about him speaks volumes to what an amazing man he is. This is not a #### for tat comparison on who is/was the better coach or who did more for the culture by any stretch. I’m thankful beyond words for outstanding men like Coach Barger, Coach Puckett, Coach Quinn & all the other men on their staffs across the years who choose the profession for the reasons that truly matter. The testimony is in every young mans life, that each of these amazing coaches have made a difference in. The point I’m trying to make is that no one should be so bitter as to try & take away from what Puckett did there in his 7 years. It’s not right & he doesn’t deserve that.

I know coach Puckett better than most. He did alot for LC and we are all grateful and proud of what he did here. The other poster I know very well. He did not mean it the way it sounded. There was alot of circumstances as to why coach left more than you probably know. Comments were made by coach and some people in LC kind of feel betrayed. There is two sides of the story in Coach Puckett leaving here. I am not taking either side. I know and like the Puckett family a whole lot. They are very good people. I wish the nothing but the best but you are an outsider and cannot possibly know the feeling of people in Lake County. It is right to call the poster out but you are doing so without knowing alot of the details from both sides. The poster supporter Coach Puckett and still does and it was not meant the way it sounded. Good luck to your son and good luck to coach Puckett and his family.

I said what I said, knowing all I need to know. I may be an “outsider”, which I have been reminded of on more than one occasion by some in LC, but there are people from LC that I love dearly & will always be a part of my life. They know the facts just as I do, no matter how others have tried & will continue to try to twist the narrative & make Coach Puckett look as if he betrayed a single soul. While I’m very aware of your relationship to the Puckett family, and deeply appreciate the fact that you were one of ONLY very few people to go to bat for him & try to do the right thing by him & his family, please do not underestimate what I know to be facts. You most definitely know him better than most, but rest assured I’m not in the “most” category. Congrats to the LC Falcons & Coach Quinn on their win last night & good luck this season. I will always support those kids, Coach Quinn & the special people I am blessed enough to know because of the Puckett family.

Donkey up boys! Fixing to head that way and fire up the grill....woohoo let’s get this party started! The Quinn era begins...anyone remember the old coaches name?

Wow. Listen, I know exactly who you are & you probably know exactly who I am. I happen to know directly from Coach Puckett’s family, that you were one of the few who actually went out of your way to be kind to Puckett, who absolutely deserves to be named for thousands of reasons. Don’t you dare try to minimize what that man & his coaching staff did to change the culture of LC football, NOT to mention, but MOST importantly many young men’s lives! You know better than to get on this public forum & try to take away from all Coach Puckett gave during his tenure at LC. Did you ever take the time to have a conversation with Coach Puckett about the reasons behind his decision to leave? Of course you didn’t. The true testimony to everything Puckett did in LC does not only lie in that gold ball sitting in the trophy case, but most importantly in the young men he molded who still go above & beyond to support him & be a part of his life. I was protective of my son on the Westview thread, & if you thought for one second I wasn’t going to call you out on your stupidity with these comments, you are sadly mistaken. My children are not the only ones I’m fiercely protective of. Coach Puckett’s name will be remembered in Lake County long after your name has been forgotten sir. Any of you that have negativity to put out there about Coach Puckett, should stop yourself & truly think about the 7 wonderful years he & his family gave to the LC community & football program. Coach Puckett has already developed a great relationship with coach Quinn, & of course Coach Quinn is starting a new era, which he deserves to be celebrated for, but under no circumstances should Coach Puckett ever be forgotten or spoke about in the manner that you chose. Instead of posting more negative comments how about you celebrate the win & the job Coach Quinn is doing with the team, I know Coach Puckett & his family were celebrating LC last night after Shelbyville’s big win at home. Words matter Reed & you should choose yours more wisely.

Thanks. Just saying what needed to be said. People think they want to poke the bear until the claws come out. I’ve been an honorary falcon & supporter of LC for a very long time. *wink

Looks like they did the right thing. Good for Mr. Frazier

Looks like they went with what would cause the least backlash for now. I’m sure the “rumors” have had some phones ringing today at the school board. He was however, very specific in saying the plan to allow them to continue playing was subject to change. Time will tell. Parents need to stay on top of what’s going on though. You can’t put too much faith in those in charge of these decisions to do what is best. Hold each of them accountable for the decisions being made.

This meeting is important to us all in Weakley Co. also. Anything at this point could happen with the way things have gone the past few months. We've all heard the rumors but what I've also heard is this is a regular meeting not a meeting to stop football.

No one said it was a meeting to stop football. Obviously it’s a regularly scheduled meeting. It’s about the agenda & the issues being discussed/voted on within this meeting. Rumors have been that one of those topics to be discussed will be to shut down the remainder of the season.

She thought she let Mr. Davidson have It! I'm not Mr. Davidson.

You got exactly what you anticipated. Whoever you are is truly irrelevant to me, but obviously you’re one of two people. What I said applies to either of the two.

How can I follow this meeting? It’s kinda important in LC

You can go to the Weakley County School Board website & scroll down to the calendar of events. Click on the school board meeting zoom link. The website says it starts at 5 but when I logged on it says meeting will begin at 6.

Wow! Lol this isn't Jeromy. I hate he got roasted on my part. But I have to say it sounds like you may know something. Good luck to your boy I'm sure he will do good.

My boy doesn’t need your well wishes, he is doing great & will continue to do great because he is surrounded by outstanding coaches, outstanding leadership & outstanding teammates. Our son is exactly who we have raised him to be, we will always be proud of him & be willing to go to bat for him no matter what. You can go kick rocks.

mamabear37 life is to short to stay bitter. We all appreciate the time and effort your family gave to our program. Sometimes things don't work out the way people want them to. And you have to just move on. Right?

No bitterness here Jeromy. You don’t want me to spill the tea on things I know & have screenshots about, so maybe you should leave that alone, as I have. The best thing we ever did for our children is to take them out of Weakley County School system & we've never been happier. You are a joke & I will toast to your firing when it happens. Again, my posting this thread had ZERO to do with Westview but if  you want to go there, I will surely go toe to toe with you. Do not underestimate me.  My concern is for the many kids that I love, who have to deal with those in leadership roles being more concerned about politics or the good ol boys club than the well being of the children they are supposed to serve through their administrative positions. How about you spend more time actually doing your job instead of being petty on a public forum. Right?!

mamabear37 can you run by Westview today and us talk about your concerns?

That is laughable, &  would be a waste of my time or anyone else’s. The principal & assistant principal at Westview will only listen to what they want to hear, & only if it fits their agendas. All the principal & assistant principal of Westview are good at is going to paid conferences, PR & photo ops. Just to be clear, my post was not about Westview, my concern is over how the WCSB is handling things on their end of this situation. There has been zero communication on what topics will be discussed at the meeting tonite or what is on the agenda to be voted on. I will give you credit though for your avoidance on answering the questions I posed on this public thread. I can only assume you have been made aware of whether or not a vote is to take place concerning the remainder of the season, so can you answer that question?  Time will tell & the clock is ticking.

  16. 5 minutes ago, GOCHARGERS said:

All Weakley Co. teams that are not under quarantine will be playing Friday night. I think Gleason is the only team that will not be playing.

Great to know, yet it still leaves to question what decisions are being discussed by the board moving forward & why the lack of communication from the WCSB? Will there be a vote during the zoom meeting concerning the remainder of the season?

  17. 20 minutes ago, BIGPURPLEMACHINE said:

Hopefully this is not true. If so it is a grave over reach of power on the part of the school board. @tradertwo tell if I am wrong about this ole buddy. But the school board’s primary responsibility is the hiring and firing of the superintendent and setting of board policy. The call to have the season or not should be solely the superintendents and if the school board doesn’t like his or her decision then they address the superintendent. But they shouldn’t have the power to make this call.

Thank you for shedding some light on this. I agree with you. I was told by a very credible source, there will be a vote taken tonite during the school board meeting via zoom. No public communication has been made concerning this meeting to parents, although I wouldn’t be surprised in the least for the superintendent to make this decision on his own anyhow. The lack of competent leadership and concern for students within that school board is very apparent to anyone paying attention. If the decision is made to shut it down, I would hope that those making that decision would be held accountable.

  18. 1 hour ago, tigerpride22 said:

What’s there reasoning for shutting it down now?

We are all waiting for an answer to that question or any communication at all concerning a vote taking place during the school board meeting. The info I do have is from a very credible source, otherwise I would not have wasted my time posting a thread on the subject. We shall see.

  19. Just curious if everyone is aware the Weakley County School Board will be holding a zoom meeting tonite at 5 to vote on whether to end the football season or not. If those in charge get their way, you can take it to the bank that they will vote to shut it down. Our kids will be the only ones who suffer the consequences of this decision.  Those so called “leaders” & school board members proposing this move should be ashamed of themselves. Unless parents & supporters speak up to stop this, football will be done. Thoughts?
