This game is HUGE. Just ask any McMinn Central player. Two of last 3 years Goodpasture eliminated them in sectional. Dont think Goodpasture is as good this year, but you dont want to go the private school and play. Also, Marion got a good taste of Goodpasture last year in state.

Dont matter if it's scrimmage or district championship, it is always a good day when you kick the kitty cats!!! Back to the litter box boys!!! No way a minute, no reason to go to litter box. Chargers pounded it out of you.

Dont know anything about Catholic or Seymour. Rhea year in and out not very good. But I LIKE these games much better. Hopefully Catholic and Seymour will be a good challenge. Good luck Chargers. Not a hater for sure. I just watched their schedule over the last several years and they seem to always open with those type games. I understand not having basketball guys back and wanting to ease into schedule. Thanks Butch for explanation. But I hope you are right about schedule getting tougher, cause they will need it with their "state" of mind. District games will not help prepare them for Marion or Goodpasture.

Will someone please explain to me the benefit of playing Greenback, Copper Basin and East Ridge? I really wish they would open with Walker Valley, Bradley, McCallie, Red Bank, etc. That would provide better competition and properly prepare them for tournament play. Even the district is down and those games will not help them later.

No intent of bashing kids, AGAIN! Very sorry if you took it that way. I am very happy for any kid that gets the opportunity to play at the next level. There are just some baseball TN JUCO's, IMO, that are better than others. That's whats great about living in this country - we can state our opinion. No small schools like Polk or Central, IMO, will ever win the state. Because of having to compete against the private schools, AKA Goodpasture. Not right, but that's the cards that are dealt us.

Yes the junior college not the kids. No therefore intended. Yes, every program has cycles and Central will probably fall into that not very good cycle starting next year.

I said I would never bash any Charger - regardless where they signed! I would never bash any kid from Polk either - but be glad to compare baseball programs Central vs Polk - any stat, any result, and any day.

I would never bash any Central player. Being a friend of the family, a former Charger player and a 37329 resident, I cant stand when anybody "bashes" a Central player. I am a close friend of the family and you will not find a better bunch - anywhere. Party boy just stepped on a nerve. And I will stand toe to toe with any Polk County folks that go after Central - double play.

My mistake about Cleveland State. They finished in the top 5 last year. Vol State lost in the tournament championship the last 2 years to Chatt State and Walters. The top teams over the last few years have been Walters, Chatt, Cleveland, Vol, and Dyersburg. The bottom has been Jackson, Southwest, Roane, Columbia, and Hiwassee. Been told that the top 2 teams right now are Walters and Vol. Alot of the season left to be played. I like my Kool Aid.

Dont understand how we strayed from the subject of "this years" Chargers to bashing a former player. To my understanding he signed a full scholarship with one of the top juco baseball programs in the state - not one of the bottom feeders - like Roane, Columbia, Hiwassee, Cleveland State. I was told he was injured, had surgery, and is a medical red shirt this year. Hopefully he will be back. Stop the criticism and get back to the subject of this year. I was glad to hear the Chargers killed Loudon yesterday. Could be an exciting year if the pitching holds up and dont have to play Marion or Goodpasture.

Practice? We talking about practice? Bombs in practice? Practice? Give me a little man that hits .400 by going the other way anyday. Call me an idiot, but the Marion game last year may have been different if Central would have stuck with regular pitching rotation. Call me a DA but the Chargers have played .500 ball over the last several years. I am a Charger fan. But they have yet to prove they are mature, discipline, and can win the big game. I hope they will prove me wrong.

I really hope Scott and Ryne step up. But neither have the experience or proved they can pitch in the big game. Ryan pitched well in dsitrict final against Polk. But both of them really struggled against Marion in region. Maybe by tournament time they will be ready. We all know you cant get to state without at least one dominant pitcher. No matter how many bombs you hit in practice!

I wish the chargers the best as I do each year. Alot of talented seniors return. But their best two pitchers graduated and the number one for this year is questionable due to shoulder issues. They should win their district. But it will be the same song, different verse. Lose to Marion in region or Goodpasture in sectional. Pitching depth will be the reason they do not reach state and in my opinion, they just havent learn how to win. Hope I am wrong.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!! Baseball season. Central has not dominated this district. They won their district championship last year in a long time! They should repeat in 09 becuase the district is down this year. But, Meigs and Boyd could challenge. I hope they make it to the 'boro but I dont think they will. No pitching depth and they havent proven they can get past Marion and Goodpasture.

Hopefully for Polk, the score will not be 0-0 in btm of 7th at Marion. The umpires strike zone suddenly begins to shrink at that time of the game.

Polk has a very talented team and Marion better not look ahead to rematch with Hixson. I'm sure some Marion folks have already made reservations for Murfreesboro. But 3peat and how many times you've been wherever means nothing now. Polk is hungry for a chance to advance further. Be very careful purple, Polk handled you earlier in the year.

I would think Central and Coach Hart are glad to face anyone other than Marion in the region first game. Last year the Chargers lost to Marion 1-0 in the btm of the 7th at Marion. Year before that Central beat Marion at Marion 3-2. Last time Hixson and Central matched up was in 2005 with Hixson wining 10-0 in region first game. Chargers have 2 kids that signed in early signing period. The team is loaded with talented juniors and all of the juniors should sign early next year. I know nothing about Hixson. At this point, all the teams are good. Good luck to both teams.

I dont know who the genius was that came up with this years tournament format. It hurt Polk more than anyone cause Central only had to beat them once. I hope it will get changed next year. Hope to see a rematch this coming Wednesday. Only time will tell what the future holds for any kid at the next level. College coaches see something in their recrutiment.

Well the Mexican hit it right on. Phillips lasted a little over 4 innings. Score was 7-3, not 7-5 as predicted. Central had ten hits and if they would have drove runs home in early innings, the game would have been over in 5. Like I said I am glad you aren't a scout cause Starr might have ended up at Chatt State or Roane State. Again go see him after Med School and he will help you with your eyesight as well.
