  1. Who are you referring to? DB linemen topped out at 260. 3 of them were 6’1”....didn’t see any of getting dragged anywhere.
  2. I agree it’s time to let this topic go. We’ve all yelled from the stands, more so at the tv when things aren’t going well. You’ve got 99% of your fans 40 ft behind yelling support on every down, doing everything they can to lift spirit, inspire confidence and let team know they are living and dying along with them on every snap. Along comes uncle festus and he assumes it’s his job to let the staff know the importance of getting play calls in timely, as if they were losing focus, not realizing the importance of a 3rd rd game at defending champion Maryville’s field. At the Fred, there are plenty asst coaches that yell from higher up out of sideline range, few would stand alongside the team and make those observations. Bad timing, location awareness on his part. What’s more important is the incredible outpouring of team support and appreciation shown by this community in the last 36 hrs. Why you say? DB has 50 conf titles in 100 yrs, been to the playoffs before? It’s because of the way these seniors went about their business for 4 yrs and fixed a slumping program that means so much to Kingsport. They have shown a path, a model that hopefully will be followed for years to come. They are an impressive group. Thanks for well wishes, would be privileged to meet again next year.
  3. Since the game is coming from Oakland, is that something NFHS would stream? Or is Oakland not part of their network coverage.
  4. For anyone interested, I’ve been told the team bus is due back at DB around 12:15.
  5. If I can get him to answer text, I will.
  6. Exactly. Same old codgers, don’t see it from other fan bases, especially Knox. Got news for you, one team wins the super bowl, every one else cheers till the end. Maryville’s a great team and we will keep trying. I’m proud of the my son tonight and all the Indians, been a great 4 years.
  7. I would agree that if your coach is able to elevate his teams play by using comments like that, it becomes a calculated risk for our team. But I also know he recognized what Christian was doing. Not his first rodeo, commonly used at every level of football. Once players are out of listening range, if pressed for comments you’ll hear the truth. I absolutely agree with the comments about your coaches.
  8. This is exactly accurate. Every week if you listen to the coaches show we are usually the favorite, but you will walk out of the room thinking we are in serious trouble. Their players, coaches, concessions are far more talented we ever imagined. He is playing the role of being a good sport, our players are not affected and the results are as expected. Then we reach that part of the season (the playoffs) where we come up against a Maryville. Now, the roles are reversed. Our players may have a few doubts so the coaches reverse the dialogue to bolster player confidence. If you’re from Maryville, you never experience this effect, your never the underdog and thus your coach will only use the complimentary dialogue. I’m sure 99% of the posters on this board already recognized this, but greyrider seemed really bothered about it.
  9. Don’t know what the motivation to play or avoid McMinn a decade ago might have been. One might think a team would want to exact revenge on an opponent that pulled a big upset the year before? A decade ago, the conference contained smaller, local teams that did little to hone skills, then we would look to Knoxville (Bearden, Oak Ridge, Farragut, etc.) for the optional out of conf. Games. When the conf changed to include the Knox teams, then we began looking to Greenville, Alcoa, etc. for non conf. I don’t think we’ve ever seen wisdom in a non-challenging schedule, the TSSAA has dictated many of these changes through the years. And yes, you are correct in that players from both teams wanted to be on field last week, players don’t think thoughts like fear the way fans do, lol.
  10. Blitz, I’m sorry the season ended the way it did for McMinn. I know both teams players were ready to rumble and leave it on the field, but the overall insinuation from your posts seems to be that DB is afraid of McMinn. We were afraid of you in 2009/2010 and were afraid of you now. Does that about sum it up? Your stories boil down to sour grapes if you ask me. I can tell you they’re have a been a number of classy McMinn fans that have passed on well wishes through soc media in the last few days, I would like to think we’d have done the same. Pull for Maryville this week, that’s fine. Hopefully we can represent once we step on their field. Still trying to improve our program in every way, but if there is one trait you won’t see with this team it is fear of an opponent. #anytimeanywhere
  11. Seriously?? With your mad skills, I’d head straight to Vegas.
  12. I was quite shocked to see they were considering a tues game! Not sure how you play tues and again fri or sat in Maryville? Im sure McMinn would take that option about now, but would set up an even more daunting task for winner.
