  1. Those 4A Greenville teams a few years ago would have something to say about that.
  2. Alcoa is a classless program. They stack trophies in 3A just so they can say they have more than Maryville. They’ll never be what Maryville is until they move up and prove they can do it on a fair playing field. I hate it for 3A football. Milan is the real 3A champs today.
  3. Alcoa sure has been talking quite a bit of trash today. Funny cause you’re a 6A football program piling up trophies in 3A. Do something impressive for once and move up a classification or two where you belong.
  4. 31 seniors. I think we lose all but 3 starters on both sides of the ball.
  5. Secondary can't get any worse. As for the O-Line Christians son will be a junior right? Also I heard there was another sophomore OL that could have started this year but he had those seniors playing in front of him.
  6. All I’m saying is the LB’s should’ve been lined up deeper. No reason to play shallow there.
  7. Oh for sure. This is not a knock on the LB's. They have been outstanding. This is something the coaches have to realize. Even with bad coverage LB's, playing deeper in that situation allows them to keep everything in front of them and make tackles in bounds. We should have dared them to throw short middle. Instead we let them have the deep middle which was disastrous and maybe cost us the game.
  8. One thing I do not understand is the lack of depth our LB's were playing with near the end of the first half. It looked like we were in cover 3. We played it correctly, but we have to understand the situation Maryville was in. With only 46 seconds left and 95 yards to pay dirt, why were our underneath players still playing 5-7 yards zones? Obviously runs, slants, and drag routes are out of the playbook at that point, so why not play your underneath zones a tad deeper like 10 yards and keep everything in front of you? This would have forced the plays to develop longer eating more clock and giving our front 4 more time to get to the QB. Yes, this gives up the short middle easily, but due to the time and distance I would be willing to give them 8 yards a play. I think they had multiple passes that drive that went for 25+ yards. Without those chunk plays they had no chance of marching down the field in less than a minuet.
  9. I am sure the coaches are getting their game plans straight from Coach T. Who needs film? I mean I doubt the Maryville staff even looked at the Cleveland and Science Hill tapes.
  10. I would love to see Elizabethton added to our schedule.
  11. I’m ready for the rematch next season. No doubt you’ll be heavily favored because of the returning starters but I trust our offseason weight training program to get us reloaded. Good luck the rest of the way!
  12. When we fix the secondary issue this pipe dream that you own DB will finally be over. Bad teams with even an average secondary make Science Hill look silly. Bearden has proved that...what 3 years in a row now?
  13. Never too early to start discussing next year.
  14. I could see some of the better South, North and Central players transferring to DB. That’s not saying much but if we could get 1 solid player from this that would help. Problem is most of these kids aren’t physically ready for the 6A grind.
  15. Good luck Rebels! Your team will be scary next season with all those young fellas! Don’t look forward to facing # 1 and # 2 again for sure. Those guys will be even more electric next year.
  16. I’ll be honest I didn’t think the Maryville QB had that kind of game in him. Got my respect tonight. Looked like Tebow out there.
  17. It starts when they are 11 and 12 years old. The coaches at DB aren’t lacking of knowledge or not capable teachers IMO. The kids are just so far behind when they get there it makes it difficult to have any success.
  18. Surprised no one is talking about the onsides kick that DB clearly should’ve recovered.
  19. Why would Maryville, Alcoa, and Oakland fans bash the coaches when they are winning or close to winning state titles every season? Last time I checked they don’t have secondary issues every season. At some point It’s got to fall on someone’s shoulders and I have a hard time believing we don’t have the talent coming in capable of playing even average coverage. I mean dear god we have a school with 2500+ students. The talent is there. The coaching staff did an exceptional job tonight but still not perfect. If they want to get to the level they are striving for their number one goal should be slaying the secondary demon. Do that and keep up the good work in the weight room and we should be more than capable of going on a run sooner or later.
  20. Sat close to the sideline. Never heard that either.
  21. Hopefully we can snag a few transfers for the 2021 season. Is it attractive to play football at DB again? I think so. We’ve always had the best facilities in TN and now we have a football program to add to it. Sounds like a pretty deadly combo to me.
  22. I’ll add to the secondary conversation. Two good defensive backs and DB wins that game by at least 14 points. Just absolute domination on the line of scrimmage. However I don’t want those secondary players hanging their heads low. They are smart kids and know why this game was lost, but it’s not their fault they were the best options we had. The coaches have to do a better job preparing them.
  23. I attend plenty of ETSU football games and that Alcoa front 7 was as good as some of front 7’s I saw live at William B Greene Jr Stadium. College talent everywhere.
  24. I graduated from Dobyns Bennett not long ago and played football all 4 years. I didn’t Get to experience many wins and the one time I played Maryville they had a running clock on us at halftime. From where we were 4 years ago to where we are now is light years difference. Hopefully this is the start of a great program for years to come. It looks like the weight training is on the right track, and the player development at DL, LB, OL, and RB has been exceptional. If we can solve the secondary issues that have haunted us for years we could be on the verge of something special. Tonight I am proud to be an Indian. Roll Tribe.
