This is great news to me.
Defense was Bearden’s strong suit last year. Really stopped us (West) up in our run game.
I didn’t watch HVA play last year, the scores of their games must have been misleading. I didn’t know they had a defensive mastermind on staff.All in good fun. I wish Mr. Jones and his staff the best and hope for a good matchup in the fall. I know our game doesn’t matter in the long run since they’re 6A, but I sure do love watching the rebels beat the bulldogs.

Man, some people are just passionate about football. That’s why we’re all on here, right? It hits close to home when it’s a guy that will be the mentor your kids/grandkids or your friends kids. I know I was lucky that my kids had tremendous coaches. A head coach can greatly positively or negatively impact a kid’s life.
I’ve actually heard these rumors too. What’s the story? Why do people think he is a bookie? -

No announcement yet. He has let a lot of folks know though. How will the Powell players take this news? Was he well liked by the players?

Get a frickin' grip. If you don't like whoever is announced as the new coach then either move your son to wherever you want him to be, or better yet stay away and let your son play football without having to listen to your crap. It's about the kids, not about you.

I see West and Powell on a collision course for the fourth year in a row. Without Nolen and a coach or two, West’s chances are looking better and better.

Congrats to the Panthers. I’m not a Powell guy, but I can respect their game. Best team in 5A for sure. How many seniors are leaving? Selfishly hoping plenty are headed out.

Are any current HC’s in Knox county staff but non-faculty? (No teaching license) Posters here make it sound like Josh Jones and Rusty Bradley are front runners but I learned today that neither of those fellas are teachers.
I’m sure they’re good candidates, Just curious. I’m shocked this job hasn’t been filled yet.

Hate to cheer for ol' Powell after the beating they put on us, but I hope they bring home the ball. If you're gonna go out in the semis at least go out to the best in the state. Coach Lowe and his kids should put on a good show for us.
How many trick plays with Nolan should we expect?

This is going to be a great game. I hate to miss watching in person due to holiday travel.
Anyone know if the West guys are healthy? They looked pretty beat up at the end of the night on Friday. Hope some rest and good turkey will heal them right up!

Interesting. The current DC would be a great choice. He's young, but his defense did a great job. He's also a fine young man. My son played with Mickey at West many years ago and we thought highly of him.
Speaking of West, Scott Cummings should also be a top prospect. He knows how to build up a program and has tremendous success in multiple schools.
The two of them on the same staff would be dynamite!

I hope we don't overlook Central. Got them good last time, but I'm certain we caught them on a bad night.
That said, I still think West has this by at least two touchdowns. Home Field, Depth, and momentum in our favor.

I don’t know much about Lane, but West’s defensive coordinator sure does a good job. I’d hate to see him leave West, but you can’t deny the defense has been better since Chandler took it on.

If it were college football, it would be different. But these guys are high school teacher first, high school coaches secondly.

The coach you mentioned isn't the only coach known for offense in this area. There are several guys who fit that bill.
Farragut OC? Great coach, but that doesn’t seem likely.

Halls and SC were formidable opponents for West this year. I hope they graduated a lot of those fellas. I agree that those three teams will battle it out for that 2 spot but I give the edge to Halls.
