Dear Barry and Glover, you both know nothing about football and it’s people like you who have made this once proud program the laughing stock of the area. Please stop. Barry, maybe if you would let people who know what they’re doing actually be in charge of something, our athletic teams and entire school system would be a little better. Consistently micromanaging is a sign of either weakness or incompetence... perhaps both. This isn’t Trousdale and your name isn’t Satterfield. Glover, boy I could go on for days with you... but let’s focus on issues at hand. Shouldn’t you be focusing on the people out cooking meth, or drug court, or something you may know something about. Just quit being Barry’s little lap dog and pretending you know something about football. I know... I know... here you come again with the tough guy comments. Just go away. Smith County football fans et al.... judging by some of the comments on what it takes to win I’m assuming most of you posting here never have and if you happened to be on a team that did, it wasn’t because of you. It’s apparent that you have also never coached anything successfully, otherwise you would understand the way things are being done is not how you do them. I don’t want to hear about you were part of this, or that, or “the glory days”; it’s obvious you didn’t contribute but now that you’re grown you want to be heard. The staff will be fine and the program will be fine, but you fans... you fans are a piece of work. Ignorant, unrealistic, and stuck in the past. The football program and your marriages would probably be better off if you guys would just stay home with your wives on Friday nights. I’m glad I moved away and don’t have to deal with you people anymore. With that, I will slip away once again and watch from the shadows (yeah Glover...silently. It’s that guy you have to worry about) and shake my head in silence. Dirty Bird Out!

Yep... just like we do with every alumni. I won’t beat a dead horse any more though. Let’s just be realistic with our expectations and truly support him in building a program (it’s going to take more than two or three years). Barry/Glover, I hope we can put our differences aside and support this staff in the ways they need to be supported and make decisions based on what they’re doing, not what parents and bleacher coaches think. I think we can all agree we’re not where we want to be, now let’s get on the same page and get behind our coach to get where it can be. Good luck coach!

You truly are an idiot. I never said play down, I said schedule winnable games. I said we can’t compete in 2A because that’s your local reference and we can’t beat them. Should’ve scheduled some winnable games and then worried about your “local” games. Idiots. I am surrounded by illiterate idiots.

Scheduling is done in two year intervals. Two year intervals. Two year. Two.

No, I think wins are more important than rivalries and gates right now. Don’t get me wrong, I love rivalries, but it’s not a rivalry if one team isn’t competitive. If you want to build a program, you better win. The kids walking the hallway don’t care who you beat, but they care if you can’t win. You guys act like you have no idea how this works. Kids don’t want labeled as “losers”, so they would rather walk the hall than play for a program that continues to lose. But you’re right... schedule the local teams, continue to lose, and see what happens to the program. You guys are incredulous and your inability to see beyond the end of your nose is the reason we are where we are. Your desire for things to be the way they used to supersedes the common sense to get back there.

Now get on the phone and call Glover so he can put his worthless two cents in. You guys have blinders on, are drinking spiked koolaid, or just aren’t very smart. Well, take a chance then! Inman can’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag and Hollinsworth couldn’t win 15 miles down the road with better athletes. Hicks has Portland roots and has a lot of ties. If you’re going to take a chance, make it the guy who cares about Portland football. It’s not what it once was, but the fan support is still there.

This is starting to sound like the Smith County job. Inman, Hollinsworth, Dickerson, Murray... are you even serious? Was this a lottery system to get an interview? Put all the names in a hat and draw out who you’re going to interview? Wow!

DB18... at least get it right. I also never said fix the other then worry about a coach. Just saying there are more issues than a coach. I’ve seen it too many times at places with a lot more athletes than we have here. My understanding is it’s a done deal with Dyer. Hope that’s the case. He can coach football, but can he wade through the political swamp at SC? Culture is something a coach needs to be able to create, but it seems like the only way you can do that here is if Barry, and maybe even @gloversince he seems to be defending the way everything is happening, agree with the way you want to do it. I hope Dyer can do it and I have to come back and eat crow, but right now I just have a bad taste in my mouth... and it’s not crow. Shoot crow will be an upgrade from this. #SC2021

Didn’t say I didn’t have skin in the game. Said I don’t have a kid at SC and I don’t coach. I want my Owls to win just as bad as the next guy, but dang get it right. Don’t ignore the fact that the issues are bigger than a coach. Get it fixed and let’s get back to SC football.
