I watched their game vs Gordy.

    They have the size.

    Jasper has size as well.

I like their offense just a tad better.  That is, when they are clicking.

I watched 4 of Smith's games. They are good but if the Warriors play like they're capable they can score.

  2. In my opinion Huntingdon should be #1. I've watched games of most of the top 10 teams and Marion is a top 10 team. Their best win is probably the 45-0 over Sequatchie. When they made the schedule Brainerd had a 4 star qb who transferred to KY and they had Boo Carter. East Ridge was going to have a pretty good team and Tyner is Tyner. Their opponents records are bad but all those inner city teams are absolutely loaded with athletes.

Can Marion compete with the West teams?? Only one way to find out I hope. Warriors do have some speed and size but their defense is what is starting to really come around. If they can play to their potential they will be hard to beat.

i think fayetteville will finish 2nd. i don’t see them losing to cascade or forrest

It may be Cascade as champ and Marion as 2nd if they beat Forrest

With some of the talk this year Cascade should beat Marion

Sure hate missing this game tonight. I'll be listening. Was in bad wreck coming back from Destin, Sunday in Birmingham near Clanton. The wife and daughter battered and bruised and I have to have shoulder surgery in a few weeks, Darn rotator cuff torn in to and have to reattach my bicep.  Just thank God to be alive. Rough getting hit from the rear at over 75mph. All my coach t buds please keep us in your prayers. We've got a good little climb ahead of us, but go Pirates!!!

Hate to hear that. You and the family are in my prayers. Stay strong!!

  5. Sometimes things just don't go your way. Talented kids on Fayetteville roster. QB did miss some throws but he was under constant pressure. Pretty much why he ran for almost 100 yds. The MC qb missed a wide open TD when they were inside the 20 in the 4th and Warriors came away with no points on that drive. To me it starts with coaching. Never should have faked the punt at midfield with a 7 point lead. Punt it deep and make the Warriors drive the length of the field. Instead MC takes a few plays and score. Then hold on Fayettevilles next possession and drive it down again for the go ahead score. Another thing I noticed is lack of depth. MC constantly subbing 3 to 5 players almost every play. Fayetteville didn't sub any.

Seem to have struck @OLD PIRATE nerve. Ken scheduled NJ twice, and won both. Lolley didn't like being on the losing side of things, especially to Ken so that was the end of that.

I know your not a fan of the private schools, but you seem to be holding that nose awful high in the air. What happened with the spray paint stuff has been over, keep beating a dead horse. Anybody that defended that made a public fool of themselves and went into hiding.

I think your disdain for Tim revolves around the playbook incident and seeing him at MC period.

I'm not pointing the finger at anybody because I wasn't there in the room when the rival fell apart. But the people involved in that are gone. Those wrongs can be righted with the Wes and Tim meeting in the middle. People like yourself are preventing these kids from getting to play in one of the most tradition rich rivalry games in Tennessee history.

I'm a fan of the Valley playing each other year in and year out. Just makes too much sense to me financial and logistic wise. I think going away from it has been a mistake.

Back to the game though, hopefully both teams get out injury free. Should be a good match up. I think the Pirates will edge it out in the end by a score.

    Definitely struck a nerve

Huntington is the team to beat in 2A.Marion cannot handle Smith or ER if they make it that far

You may be right with this statement. Marion didn't even make the playoffs last year with this same group of kids, but we're proud of them so far.

We may be little but at least we're slow :roflolk:

There 1-5 record doesn't have anything to do with moving to 2A. They've lost to 2 solid 4A squads, a Giles squad that should have beaten Page, and one of the best 1A teams in the state. They gave the game away to Marion. If they slip up and fall to 3rd in region no way Smith County or East Robertson wants to see them in Round 1.

    Gave the game away??

I will answer this by saying or 1A, the caliber athletes SP produces on a year to year basis will keep them in the hunt more years than not. I agree with @The Drunken Sailor the competition in the east is bad this year. With SP hosting all home games but a possible semifinal they shouldn’t have a problem representing with all the talent they have this year. MTCS will be a huge test Friday for the Pirates.

Will playoff brackets continue their same home/away cycles with teams changing regions this year?

Tyner’s probably 3 yrs away from being relevant again. Not until this new school is built and they reopen the zones to give them their traditional areas back.

That's pretty much the norm for Tyner though. They'll go 3 or 4 yrs of sub par football and then have a stellar season and then drop off for a few years again.

What do you mean by traditional areas? Aren't they a magnet school.
