Refs trying to keep it close or look like legit penalties?

Really bad take here. Not in game shape for sure, but there are 2 or 3 reps that you can pick out, that show why he’s the number #1 defensive line prospect in the country. There’s a play where he crosses the face of the guard as a backside 3 tech and makes a play in c gap-ish in the backfield. The video that was previously shared of the big hit in the backfield is good evidence. He made a play of toss sweep. Human beings his size aren’t supposed to move the way that he does, and THAT’S why he is the number one player. Plenty of guys have made 20 tackles in a high school game that couldn’t be successful in big time college football. It’s not his stats that make him what he is.

Just from what little I've seen about Karns, this should be a little easier task for the PHS defense as Karns doesn't present the same multi dimensional threat that AC and Maryville has. If Karns doesn't have the ability to throw the ball, and Powell can load the box, that could leave some favorable numbers for the Panthers especially when you consider a double team will likely be coming at 99 all night. If I'm Powell, with the guys they have in the secondary, I would really be considering playing a lot of man coverage and making teams throw it to beat us. Noe and Vaughn both had HUGE nights against Powell, and neither one of them present the same challenge as the Bishop kid from Karns. Going to be interesting. Very one-sided series historically, but the Beavers are a confident group right now starting 2-0. If the Panthers aren't careful, the train could jump right off the tracks early. Does Karns have the guys up front to give Bishop room to have a big night? Will Powell make some adjustments to find some answers in their run d? I think this one is going to be a whole lot closer than most of the games in this series have been.

Going to be a good one I think. Powell will have to keep mistakes to a minimum (always a problem for Lowe teams) and get off the field on defense. If they don’t create a couple of turnovers, I don’t think they’ll be able to come up with enough stops to win the game. I’d say close for a while with Maryville pulling away. I think the final will be 17-21 point Maryville win.

Little before my time here, but as the story goes, CHS offered a hunter’s education class that no one else in the county offered. Students could transfer to central on the basis that they wanted to take the class. I certainly understand your stance as well. I created the account to chime in Bc I felt like the character assassination that was happening was unfair. That said, I get that a guy with 5 career posts doesn’t carry a ton of weight lol.

I would argue the burden of proof is on the accuser. Namely the “adults” on the thread who have “sources” about the personal lives of Powell’s wide receiver corps. I just don’t buy that man. Powell got eliminated from the playoffs in the 2010 season because Matt suspended his all state tailback for the playoffs. It’s a false equivalency to say that because you think he’s recruiting he must also be covering up KCS behavior rule violations. I just think it’s really unfair to get on a message board and launch baseless accusations about high school kids (and I say that that with all due respect to the unnamed sources cited in this thread) because you’re jealous that a different kid decided to attend powell and not central or maryville.

Well you're right about that as far as the recruiting trail goes. But that was all fine and good when it wasn't Matt's cocky self winning the recruiting wars. No one was complaining about the kids leaving Powell's zone when PHS was going 5-6 and making first round exits. Go to Tarleton or Shumpert when there's a championship game going on in middle school ages.....whatever team you support....they'll have a coach there. That's just the way of the world. But the county isn't giving anyone a pass because they run real fast or throw it real far...and they certainly aren't giving away get out of jail free cards because you wear a Powell jersey. Ask those kids who didn't get to go to the playoffs their senior year because of a paperwork issue.

No dog in the fight here anymore, but what exactly are you saying got swept under the rug and by who? Powell academic administrators aren't going to risk their jobs for athletic success especially after their paperwork hiccup cost them a couple of years ago with the tailback they brought in when West and SD called crying bc they were gonna get beat. It's played out and petty to say that there is corruption at the administrative level without having any evidence to support it. "Too many confirmations for it not to have happened." Give me a break. It's not the wild west, and it's not college football. If something happened, the adults involved in the administration at Powell would handle it along with Knox County. Get a grip.
