  1. wow I've missed high school basketball...too bad MTSU isn't worth watching...crazy night of basketball...heartbreakers for Duke, Texas, Tennessee, and Oakland...I regret not going to see my alma mater play any this season
  2. Prettyboy you are embarassing the rest of us Oakland kids. It's cool that you have such great hopes for our players and teams but you need a reality check. Think before you speak.
  3. Oakland returns 2 starters, Allen(junior) at PG and Martin(senior) at post
  4. as in leaving?....i recognize the names but i dont know their class
  5. Why is Lebanon no longer towards the top? Are they graduating everyone with not much talent returning?
  6. I don't see anyone challenging Siegel in the district next year. Riverdale might get a win on SHS, but I think come tourney time Siegel will return to glory. I would say Siegel will not only own the district, but make it to the Final Four again (if not farther). Of course, there's no guarantees. They might get knocked off in a region or substate game, but they definitely should make it that far next year. I think Oakland will be decent, but the loss (with no equal replacement) of AD and Boyd really hurts them. This is the first I've heard of that KY kid, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings seeing him wear red, white, and blue . I second Hooligan's standings for 05-06, with the real race being for 3rd place.
  7. congratulations to ridgeway and siegel, but especially the stars....not only did u make it to the big dance, you were one of the top four teams. My hats off to you....I fear your wrath next year....'06 just might be your year.
  8. Congratulations Siegel Stars, thank you for representing Murfreesboro well...Good Luck tomorrow night--it only gets harder from here!
  9. lol...I'm not saying I agree...but that was pretty funny
  10. Nice entry ccalum...I agree you could do this with any two or more schools that split. But this being the only split of the sort that I've ever personally experienced, it led me to be intrigued by it. Plus the fact that I absolutely hate that our guys came so close to the big dance and didn't make it makes me yearn for a special team even more. To fastereddie who mentioned Oakland and Riverdale weren't that great 4 or 5 years ago--no team is good every year. Look at Oakland a decade or so ago and then you'll see a another team with something "special". Do you think Siegel will have the success they've had after they graduate all their current starters? No...every team has to go through rebuilding stages. Just because teams go through periods of success or mediocrity, doesn't mean things have always be that way. It also speaks volumes that teams such as Oakland and Riverdale have continued to win, even with the loss of talent because of new schools. That's a mark of a truly successful program.
  11. It never ceases to humor me to see the many spellings of the name Siegel. I have a question. Does the term "siegel nation" merely entitle the cheering fans of an event that are rooting for Siegel, or does it entitle the whole Siegel experience(for lack of a better word) -- the fans, teams, academics, students, coaches, janitors, etc?
  12. but then all riverdale had to do was go out and recruit some more players... I probably shouldn't have said that but I couldn't resist
  13. well i didnt take into consideration smyrna, lavergne, eagleville etc. Let's just limit it to the boro lol.....and they'd have to rebuild central...no chance at all would they fit us all in there
  14. Cookeville is the only comprehensive high school in Putnam County. Now I know this is an unrealistic comparison based on population rates, but imagine if Rutherford County modeled Putnam and created one giant highschool for everyone. Oh baby that would be incredible. We would own everything; you name it, we won it. I know that's a very, very unreasonable idea, but I have a crazy imagination. I figured while we were dreaming of the possibilities I would throw that out there.
  15. Isn't cookeville the only school in their county/area?
  16. True...however neither one of those teams have had the success of both Siegel and Oakland the past two years (both teams made it to substate this year, oakland did it last year)...and how do you know that all of those blackman players would have remained at riverdale....some could have been gone to Oakland. I know the area of town that I live in was zoned Oakland before Blackman opened up, and then it became BHS territory.
  17. Ahhh Murfreesboro....tis a silly place. I love living here though
  18. Why do you say that...I know a lot of people that get upset with Oakland leave and go to Siegel, but most everyone I talk to are glad they stayed.
  19. Hooligans...I think I'm beginning to have a change of heart about you....we agree on too much haha
  20. I think the world of Siegel. The fact that they have made it to the State Tourny speaks for itself, regardless of what others say or think. Siegel is not even 2 years old and already district champions plus region champions over teams like Oakland, Lebanon, and Columbia Central. Siegel even earned a brief #1 spot in the polls. That's simply incredible...ask anyone at the beginning of the season and I bet very few would have even thought of that. I would dare say they have a chance in the state tourny, however, I definitely will not overlook what the other 7 teams have accomplished this year as well. Just because myself and others aren't picking Siegel to win it all, doesn't mean we don't give them credit.
  21. Where did Ross go before Siegel?...I'm not looking foward to next year. I have a feeling Siegel will sweep Oakland once again being that we lose 3 starters and the returning players haven't exactly proven themselves outside of Allen and Martin (not to mention they don't have much size).
  22. I know! I had the same starting 5 except Adareus instead of Jones
  23. well I know there was a shirt with handcuffs on it...and I thought I heard stories about there being handcuffs...maybe i imagined it
  24. lol...but then you would have no one to chant "jailbird", wear prison jumpsuits, or bring out hand cuffs for
  25. Rewind 2 years and cancel the contruction of Siegel High School. Now as most people in Murfreesboro and the surrounding areas know, 4 of Siegel's 5 starters all went to Oakland (plus the first man off Siegel's bench, Rod Alexander). Looking back the past couple of days (drowning my sorrows of our substate defeat) I began to imagine the possibilites. If Siegel had never opened, all of those players would most likely have stayed at OHS. It makes me weak thinking how good the team could have been. Last year, this year, and next year the team would have dominated the midstate and quite possibly made a run at a back to back to back State championships. Man....what might have been....
