  1. Lol. I will congratulate you early as soon you will have another for titan27 to add to the vault. Enjoy the game. I am the rare Oakland and Blackman fan. Good luck today.
  2. Sorry I’d like to continue this but Page and Powell have gotten interesting and half time is over. Nice night for football
  3. I see you are an Oakland fan??? Do they let you take turns housing the trophy?? Come on you know I am kidding you. Shots at Blackman? For laughing at a shot taken by someone else. Please quote my shots at Blackman. I’m a fan. Only a Blackman fan would be so disappointed in how it’s gone south But also recognize Oakland is an exceptionally talented, well run, very stable program. Agree???
  4. And I was responding to the stop a nosebleed comment cause it was funny as heck. Cause it’s true. Not trying to point out the obvious to B45. He knows the obvious. We all do
  5. Hahaha. That’s what you chose to call out. Sorry. Far from juvenile just old folks using old folk language. Whatever you call it. We will check our Gold Ball and quote it exactly
  6. Personally we can’t wait for Saturday’s night cap final game. Have no ties to either school except friends kids on each team. Just hope it’s a good game and injury free for all.
  7. We’ve been at the tournament in Chattanooga for all games. Tons of folks talking up both Oakland and Summitt. Didn’t hear anyone mention Blackman.
  8. Great discussion from all. And again a great point we will do anything to help our kids. Just make sure it’s a kids dream….not the parents. The comment about high school coaches being honest about expectations is very valid and important. I also agree most high school coaches will gladly help a player advance.
  9. HTV I am in total agreement. The D1 power 5 athletes are going to be found. Just like my friend said “I could have paid for college TWICE on the money spent on training and marketing my son”. Wonder how many players who go to these private lower level schools with negligible scholarship help are even there in year 2. Let alone graduate with a degree. I know many do and enjoy playing college ball but how many are in debt and without benefit of degree. Just my opinion
  10. Very true, osunut2, so true. Very similar to paying a company to promote you to college coaches. Sure they may know a couple, but you can load your hudl highlights, and recruiting coaches emails are available to you like they are to these companies. I am sure there are some very reputable people in the business. Just do your research, talk to former players who used them, etc. colleges pay people to go in search of athletes. Texting or tweeting about your kid to a coaches public Twitter account can be done by you for free.
  11. Another excellent point. Gotta consider earning potential when you take on that kind of debt.
  12. And you didn’t charge him a penny, did you??? Lol. Those applications are so much work. You are a great uncle!!
  13. Excellent point Lots of money being made off dreams of playing college football. And the greatest percentage going to someone other than the athletes or their families. Had an associate tell me he could have paid for his sons college TWICE if he added up all the camps, private lessons, recruiting services, private trainer, etc etc etc. said it started in 8th grade. But didn’t end up like they hoped Yikes!!!! But hey, spend your money on whatever you choose. If that makes you and your athlete happy I wish them all the best. Just make sure it’s the KIDS dream????
  14. The cost of higher education is indeed expensive.. but the percentage of high school athletes playing college football is very low like what 5%??? And full ride scholarships are rare, saved for the elite performers and those colleges below D1 have even less to distribute per NCAA rules. It would seem just as important to concentrate on their ACT scores. Hard to supplement athletic money with academic scholarships when the student athlete has a 15 ACT just my opinion.
  15. And he didn’t need a football training place right?? Or go to Murfreesboro either. Lol.
  16. Seems like a ton of these places. Think they ever give an honest assessment of the athletes ability? Guess that wouldn’t get a check written right? Do high school coaches promote these places? I am so old we were told if you are good enough the schools will find you… given the very small percentage of kids that actually play college sports this could really be taking advantage of parents huh????
  17. What is up with all these football training programs? Is it like piano lessons for the musically inclined? They seem to be (or some I should say) connected to a recruiting service company. Not talking about football camps high schools do in the summers These look more like gyms with personal football trainers for even middle school age???? Can any one explain. Are parents paying a lot for these companies???
  18. Congratulations to Oakland!!!! What a game!!!!
  19. I could Not agree more with the poor NFHS setup at most schools. Some produce a great sportscast and is fun to watch but most are impossible to watch. I have complained several times with no response.
  20. We said we were sorry we left out Eagleville and Smyrna and MTCS ( which is a private school) but we still wish the best of luck to them all….every season!!! Right TomLHS?????
