Schools have to meet certain criteria and pay dues to be TMSAA members, and it doesn't look like Westwood or any of the schools invited to the JCH State Tournament like Collinwood, Watertown, or Walter J. Baird of Lebanon did that.
Some of the teams you mentioned never will, they like pretending to be champs with weaker opponents.

Haile is supposed to be for not TSSAA teams, and TMSSAA is for TSSAA teams. Haile is kinda a joke recently because of all of the mismatches and blowouts. Plus Haile winners talk about how they are state champions when they beat 3 teams from within 30 miles of them, lol. Some teams choose to stay non TSSAA just so they don't have to compete on an even playing ground, and can still have a shot at calling themselves state champions.

It’s cyclical. I remember when Mt Juliet was one of the best teams in the state and Wilson Central had some good teams as well. Go back even further to Shelbyville and White County in the 90s and early 2000’s. The Rutherford County teams have benefited from the AAU circuit and their ability to recruit players. Last I checked Lebanon has had a decent run as well. In the end it all gets settled on the floor in Murfreesboro as it should.
MJ has been awful a while, so has WCS. Cookeville is class and will run to the semis, and Lebanon is an easy out, and not a team any decent team should worry about, undiciplined, selfish, and already imploding under the massive ego of the players and coach.

Actually we are 5-1 in 7AAA this year. We lost the one game by a last second shot. We played that game vs Livingston without our head coach and assistant coach. I think that alone is worth more than the 2 pts we lost by.
I absolutely love the way Livingston plays and their players but Cookeville wins that game a high percentage of the time. That’s not a knock on Livingston but there aren’t many games where Cookeville will shoot 20% from 3 and have the opposing team shoot 23 FT vs Cookeville’s 7. Hope both teams make it to the glass house and maybe we can run it back and play next season.
Only takes one game, and you are out.
Livingston vs Cookeville is nearly 5 to 5 if they play 10 games today.

Could be worse... Can't help they got stuck in one of the weakest divisions in the state for their classification. I get it tho, Lebanon as a #2 is a joke, mj lol, Wilson central lol. There are 1A squads here who'd mop the floor with them.

You guys havent won a title since 89, come on man.. Half the teams in this state weren't even fielding girls balls teams at that time lol. LA, Pickett, Clarkrange all suck now bc the field has been evened up elsewhere.
No one is down, everyone else is better.

Club and travel exist for the admin salaries, no other reason. Take away those salaries and see how long the organizations remain.
I think they are useful, but anyone who says club, aau, travel is superior to HS is most likely benefiting from selling parents the thousands of dollars a year dream, and almost all a parents I know who have went that route, spent more on travel than they got back in scholarship.
It's gatekeeping, and then we wonder why we aren't getting the best athletes in all sports now. Look at USA mens soccer, total gatekeeping programs, and they have the best facilities, best everything, but still can't get the best athletes because of this nonsense.

Everyone knows clubs, aau, non school leagues are about making money for administrators. I coach and can tell you I get more juco, and 4 year hits than local clubs. For every 1 kid in club ball that gets division 1, there are dozens who end up at Maryville or some school with no scholarship program. This is all just a sales pitch, gotta keep making money for administration, and pretending like it is the only way. Gatekeeping hurts sports, and that is all you are doing.
