I actually went out and watched the LC and Halls Scrimmage. I saw it at two scores a piece, both on longer drives no big, long TDs. Both had a few big plays but looked exactly how a spring scrimmage should look, not polished mistakes, and trying to figure things out. LC has a stud RB that broke off a few big runs, QB has a lot of potential, but young and you can tell it. Not a lot of kids, assuming they haven't gotten their upcoming freshmen yet. I think LC skills are really good, but upfront they didn't look too good, but they have time to get that figured out. Halls definitely will regress from last year, but they switched to more of a gun t offense and looked to have switched up on defense as well. OL did not play very well, but they have good size. Skill wise you can tell they lost their best guys and are trying to figure out their go to guys.

Why Dyer County football is seeking a new Coach?
HarrisFootball replied to BelieveITorNot's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
Hearing that they started interviews yesterday, hoping to have their guy mid next week. Hearing a lot of big names in the mix for this one. -
Yeah, from the games I saw UC went from under center to the gun running the Gun T this past year but ran the exact same offense from this. I'm not sure what to expect out of this hire, I also thought Garmon would get this job. With an offensive minded HC coming in will he even want to stick around and take a potentially lesser role?
-
Garmon is the OC, correct? Their offense was the strength of that team last year, I was not impressed with SF's defense at all, but their offense continued to pop game after game. 40+ ppg I do not expect again with all those losses, but if they were to give him the job and keep that familiarity, I could still see that offense being very good. I could even see them pulling an upset maybe. As for Morris, I couldn't see him giving up Obion yet to make a move down, while some coaches have done it as of late (Williams to Humboldt from Bolivar, Cruse to Dresden from Ripley) I do not see that being the norm as both of them seemed to have different reasons for leaving (Family and Safety). I don't think you move up from West Carroll to move back down to SF, I think if that were the case you stick it out at WC because those kids absolutely loved him. Just my thoughts though!

1A and 2A Region 7 Predictions

How many kids do you think that y'all will have this year? I like the size and speed of the skill positions coming back, think you guys will throw the ball more and get some of those big WR's involved this year? I think LC has a ton of potential that's why I have them 2nd right now -
Did SF go through Spring Practice already with Knott before he left? Or will they just not have spring practice while searching for a coach?

1A and 2A Region 7 Predictions
HarrisFootball replied to HarrisFootball's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
JCM Struggled and lost to Peabody and their Wing t attack last year and understandably so it's the only time they saw the Wing T all year. I do not think you are giving UC enough credit at running their system. I could see JCM making the playoffs, but with the talent they lost (their best offensive and defensive player, and about 14 others to graduation) I picked them to miss out. It's all-pure guesses though as they could shock the world and finish 1st in the region, as could anyone. I would love for JCM to continue to build their program back to where it was when I was in school, Jackson football is better when JCM is great. I've actually been talking to some people close to Humboldt and they are all really excited about this year. One of their assistant coaches told me that they have had some major jumps in the weightroom, their numbers are improving from low 20's to mid 30's or so, and they have some real talent in their upcoming 9th and 10th grade classes. I will obviously still have to see it to believe it, but all sounds promising. I won't change my original predictions till after I some teams play though. I might just have to go out to watch Humboldt in their spring game and see. If they can prove that their defense is improved, I might move them up haha. -
1A and 2A Region 7 Predictions

As we know its April, so all of this is just projection based on everyone being healthy at the same times, and what we think they will do. Gleason could very well fall flat on their face, but if healthy I think they are the third best team based off their talent and coaching. As for Gleason losing to Humboldt, I could very well see it happening as well. I think talent wise Humboldt can compete with anyone in this region, my hesitations on them are as I said their OL play which looked very questionable at times last year, and their defense which couldn't stop the run at all. If they can learn to tackle this year, they could very well shock some teams and people across West Tennessee -

1A and 2A Region 7 Predictions

I do not disagree with that. With JMCSS putting a cap on JCM that will keep them in 2a JCM is set up for success. Their graduating class had been with Turner since they were freshmen as his first full class I believe and it was a lot of talent leaving this year. I could see them getting in the 4 spot this year, I just trust Huntington’s ability to reload more than JCM at this moment haha. I like Gleason a lot, and they return I am pretty sure everyone. Add in Lampkins as coach who does more with less than most other coaches in west tn and I think they could be a dangerous team. Humboldt I do like, but their OL and defense scare me. But with a second year under Williams I think they do much better. He did very well getting bolivar back to a 6 win team in a tough region a few years back. He is young and energetic, seems like a good fit for those kids and the offense was fun to watch at times when they were clicking. I was at their game against halls last year and thought they played the better game and were put in position to win, just couldn’t pull it off. -
3A: 1) Westview - Obvious 1 in my opinion, returning a ton off a team that made a run to the championship game. Simpson in year two will be just as incredible. 2) Covington - Kirby coming back from leaving for Henry Co was huge for Covington. I believe even with the loss of Smith at RB they will reload and finish 2nd in this region. 3) Dyersburg - I think Dyersburg and Obion will be a great game for 3rd in this region. Dyersburg lost two huge pieces off their team last year, but I trust Stow more than Clayton from Obion. 4) Obion - The top teams in this region imo and there are no surprises. Obion drops down to 3A but get placed in one of the toughest regions in the state and keep battling for 3rd or 4th place. 5) Bolivar - Lost a lot from a team that finally got over the playoff hump and got destroyed by Covington in round 2. OL is my question with Bolivar as always as they should have some good skill players. 6) McNairy - Will get slightly better in year two under Truett, and I think they are interchangeable with Bolivar in the 5 spot. McNairy lost imo their best player but return a lot outside of him. 7) Ripley - The fall from grace for Ripley continues, with Cruse they were a playoff team year in and out. Without him they struggled last year, and I feel like they will continue to fall. MS was not very good last year either so Idk about the incoming talent. 4A: 1) Crockett Co - My favorite to come out of this gauntlet, returning a lot including a great QB, RB, and WR/TE. If they continue momentum, they will be the team to beat. Losing Greenhill is tough, but he is their only major loss. 2) Chester Co - Tough team to project as well with them losing Barham and a few other key guys from last year. But they finished 1st in region 6 last year so for the time being I will keep them in the top of the new region 7. 3) South Gibson - Coach Johnson is a great coach, they return a lot including their leading rusher from last year. They have to figure out their QB situation and stay healthy and they will be fine. 4) North Side - Retuning quite a bit including potentially the fastest player in the region. Lost their QB, and leading rusher, so that creates questions in my eyes. I could see them winning the region or missing the playoffs, so I settled at the 4 spot. 5) Dyer Co - Only losses last year were to two teams who made the state championship games. They lose quite a bit including their head coach to retirement. Until I know more about who they get to replace him 5 is as high as I can go. 6) Lexington - Lexington is a hard team to project, I think they have the potential to compete in this region, but they could also fall flat. Coach Carr is a great coach and offensive mind, but others in this region just have more currently. 7) South Side - South Side will struggle again next year, while they ended the year with an upset over South Gibson last year, I do not see that as a sign of change. South Side has many problems including getting / keeping basketball guys out for football, pair that with an offense the kids aren't excited about, and I think that's a bad combination 8 ) Hardin Co - While I hope Hardin Co can get back to their former ways, we all knew these few years would be tough. Smith left when he did for a reason, the talent is down currently but they will come back. I just do not think it is this year. Hardin Co in for another tough year.
-
1A: 1. Dresden - Retuning a lot as well, should be back to running this region with UC out of the picture. 2. Lake Co - Losing a lot, but returning some solid playmakers, I trust them more than anyone not named Dresden in this region. 3. Gleason - Returning everyone, as long as they stay healthy this year they should make the playoffs. 4. Greenfield - I think Greenfield is a well-coached team usually, with SF down I trust them more then Humboldt or WC. 5. Humboldt - Athletes are there, I think Williams did solid last year, but until they can prove they are a playoff team I will keep them out. 6. West Carroll - New HC and a lot of rumors about players potentially leaving. 7. SF - With HC leaving and a huge class graduating, they will be in for a rough year imo. 2A: 1) Milan - Lots of debating if they should be 2a or not, but they are here and are the team to beat in this region. Retuning a lot of production off a team that made a run to the championship game last year. Milan run's it back and makes a good run again. 2) Union City - They are always a really good team, reloading year in and year out, I like what they have coming back next year so even moving up from 1A I think they are a top two team in this region. 3) Peabody - Losing Jacobs could have been detrimental, until they called up DC Tab Vowell who is an exceptional coach. Losing a few key players off last year's team but retuning some really good players including a stud RB in Agnew. 4) Huntington - Losing Eubanks and Warbritton will hurt, making them take a slight step backwards. But They have proven to reload, and I believe they are still a playoff team. 5) JCM - Someone had to get left out of the playoffs, after a great turn around last year, I think they return to earth a bit this year. Losing some great players will hurt and turn this to a slight rebuilding year. 6) Halls - Moving up from 1A to 2A hasn't boded well in the past for halls, I think they are a solid team, but not a contender in this region. 7) Gibson Co - Struggled mightily last year, I think that continues this year. In no way am I an expert, but here are my thoughts on 1A and 2A region 7. Obviously, the games are played on the field, and teams that seem down and out could turn it around, and teams with high hopes could fold. Looking forward for some great football in West TN this year!!

Dyer Co should be an opening that attracts a ton of attention. -
I don't know much about Knott, but SF had a good year this past year and everyone seems to speak very highly of him, hopefully we will have success at Milan. Who do you hope gets the HC job?

Any word who the hire is?
