Wow first year! Is he new to the school or just never played?

Was watching some of the Eagleville highlights, not happy 11 is hurt but sure am glad we don’t have to face him! He throws a precise deep ball. Looks like 2 can still get it done and is more dangerous than 11 taking off with the ball.

Dear Falconred, If you review the post, the 3 of us gentleman were having some nice easy going chats this morning about our teams. While you did not ask for my opinion, you did refer to me as I was part of those conversations when (in bold below) you mentioned "these guys" as well as "ya'll know nothing about football." Additionally, it is a public forum and as much as you are welcome to voice you opinion about our football knowledge, I too carry the same rights and can discuss your posts. Since you seem to only post on Cornersville boards then I am sure we will cross paths again! Anyway, what are thoughts on this game?

Is Eagleville full strength? I know we will have 2 out due to ejections last game.

We need Huntland to beat Collinwood! Not sure who’s helper game is tougher!

Went back and looked, they said Shoals Christian (Alabama) cancelled. Since they beat us in the head to head, I don’t think it would come into play. Not sure how it would have affected if it did matter. If Collinwood looses to Huntland and you guys beat us, we would all be 3-3 and Collinwood would stay 2, Eagleville 3, Cornersville 4. If they loose and we win then we move to 2 CW to 3 and 4 depends on WC if I am seeing this all correctly now. If CW wins and we win CW is 2 we are 3 and 4 still depends on WC.

I saw CW only had 9 games when we played and questioned it. Somebody said they had a non conference cancel last minute and they could not fill the spot in time

It will be great for us fans that this final game has meaning for both teams. Both should come out and give it their all! Agree it will be close and hope we both make it out injury free.

That does make it interesting. I was thinking Eagleville won the Wayne County game, guess I should have looked it up.

Last region match up of the season Thursday night! Playoff spots still up for grabs and these last games for Cornersville and Collinwood decide the second spot. it would appear Eagleville has wrapped up 4th spot as Richland plays MC this week and Eagleville won the head to head. Cornersville pass game is on a role making this offense dangerous. Going to say this one will be close, 2 touchdown win for Cornersville. 35-21

I don’t comprehend or understand why it is this way. Is it a taught culture? Is it parenting? While I understand these are individual players who will make mistakes from time to to time, at high school level , when this is expected from us as outcome and others, what’s the miss here? I am not saying this can’t happen on any team by any player, but when this is not surprising or an expected response, something is off. we need Huntland to beat Collinwood next week. Logic tells me root for Huntland. Collinwood was a far more respectable opponent. What a core delima for us as fans.

It will be if they play like that. They have been playing much better than that and had finally turned the corner, but had a set back with the bye week. I think they will get it back but future success all depends on the line.

He normally does that with around 18 carries. Our o line played horrible. Huntland did tackle well and held him to no carries over 20 yards.

We also had a player carried off the field in a stretcher due to a dirty blindside hit by Huntland #3 on an interception return. Happy to report everything has checked out ok and he was released last night! Prayers worked! God bless!

Rewatched the game. Don't have access to official stats, but it does appear Phil was correct/close in his stats. I have Ben at 18 carries for 103 yards. Our offensive line played as bad as they did against Collinwood. The penetration by the Huntland D line was insane. They were chasing us down from the middle and back side all night and walling off whichever direction we were going. Overall the bye week did not serve us well. Far too many penalties, wrong line ups, delay of games (how in the world do you not have a visible play clock at high school in 2023?) We had 2 ejections for unsportsmanlike conduct, all due to mouthing. I have said before, you shut Ben down and you beat Cornersville. So how did we win this game? #9 Blaine Woodard was the man along with some great plays by his receivers! #9 had the best game of his career! By my counts, he went 11 out of 15 for 155 yards and 3 touchdown passes! He was patient and read the field very well. These boys did exactly what this offense is designed to do, get them biting on the run and shutting it down and making them pay in the play action game. Touchdowns were spread amongst the team, Ben 2 rushing touchdowns, Uland, Cooper, Schillig each with one TD reception each. These boys won this as a team when what typically worked was not working, they found a way. Great play calling from the box! Coach Cook did an amazing job gathering his team and getting them mentally focused after the slew of penalties and ejections and they finished strong with no more penalties. Coach Cook showed the leadership we all knew he would show and made one of the best in game speeches I have had the pleasure of witnessing. All coaches post game speeches were on point as well. The win did not overshadow the poor line performance and penalties and they let it be known. Chalk this one up. Come back next week stronger and knock off that rust! Go DAWGS! A win next week and loss by Collinwood would put us second in the region!

It’s definitely a different world today. The transfer portal has hurt high school recruiting big time. to be clear, I was referencing in general terms, not that that is the mindset or attitude of any players on our team or other teams. Not that I took your response that way, but just wanted to be very clear on that. Lol.

I don't recall anyone shouting we are going to state? I don't care who played. We are 5 -3 with a chance of going 7-3. My prediction at the beginning of the season was 7-3 or 8-2. Everyone said I was crazy and there was no way. Well here we are and now everyone says we are only here because we haven't played anybody. The schedule didn't change. Yall realize MC plays 7 of the same teams Cornersville does? I don't see anybody harping about their wins over those teams and that their undefeated season means nothing. We are proud of what are boys and coaches have done and continue to do. Did we have some bumps and learning curves, absolutely. Did we loose to MC who many have on the board to play for the gold ball. Absolutely, and there no is no shame in that. Has Ben with the help of the team broke school records left and right. Absolutely. Go DAWGS!
