  1. Sounds like a great kid. Is his name Ben Franklin for real
  2. Cornersville has a proud tradition and a history of great teams. And i believe a couple of state champion appearances. Could someone bring me up to speed on the coaching situation. Seems to be a lack of confidence in the current HC. A little history please on how all this came about?
  3. I’m a little concerned that I’m seeing obvious things wrong but there’s no 2nd half adjustments. Come on coaches you have a great team make the appropriate changes or your gonna come up short. Your athletes can’t bail you out against another team with talent. . The only thing that stopped MC was FC’s superior athletes. Totally outcoached from start to finish.
  4. Everyone take a deep breath. Coach Sisk knows what he’s doing. It’s not his call on the uniforms or the Idiot Kid who thought it was all in fun to video another kid in the locker room. I assure you NOBODY is more disappointed than him about this kids poor judgment. So lets drop all this nonsense about “heads on the chopping block and the program unraveling and kids dropping out of the program” I’ve personally seen Sisk at the field house very early on Saturday Mornings after a game and late in the evening on Thursdays before a game. He’s working his butt off for THS. The Coach can only do so much. I wish all these nay sayers who sit on their iPads would actually show up and support their coach and team on Fridays both home and away. In Chattanooga last December you would have thought it was the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. EVERYONE IN TULLAHOMA WAS THERE. Where are you now? Besides to ###### and moan about how “bad” things are. You’all forget 2015. A lot worse than now by along shot. And you couldn’t give away a ticket on the 50yrd line. Let’s show our support for this team and their new head coach instead of monday morning quarterbacking everything that’s not gone our way this season. Most of which the Coach has no control over.
  5. Not so fast my friend. . The talent is definitely there but the Kids and the Coaches need to get their act together. Not to replay the MC game but 2 notes in retrospect. Why not bring Johnson the SS up on D to spy the Qb. Take him outta the game somewhat. Also FC D Ends must protect the edge and turn plays inside. MC Qb had a field day on the Edges all night.
  6. I remember we lost a Game in the mid 80’s at Burley. Ahead 21-0 at the half only to lose 21-28. GHS had a Man playing tailback and just ran it down our throat. I bet Rider threw his cap a dozen times that night. Sorrell’s and Rider had a great deal of respect for each other. . I was carrying the sticks as a last min sub in 79 when the Cyclones were dominated at BC for 3 1/2 Qtrs before miraculously scoring 2Tds as time expired to Win 14-12. Sorrells was having a major Fit at the end. . I distinctly remember both coaches with hands on each other’s shoulders talking for several minutes. Much respect for both men.
  7. There’s a story out there on the UT website asking Jason about the 30 on 30 Documentary. They asked him about all the life lessons from his Grandad. He recounted a time when as a Senior he slipped out of a study hall class for a quick haircut and was gone less than 30mins. As he returned and rounded the corner Rider met him. There were no words exchanged as Coach stuck out an open hand. Jason reached in his pocket and handed over his car keys. He said “I didn’t get em back for 2wks”. . On a side note I was really moved by the scene on 30/30 where Jason is reflecting “this is where it all began” as he walked the field at BC towering over his Grandad with his arm draped over his shoulder.
  8. My Dad was a Life Long Cyclone after he moved our Family to Stoney Creek after getting a Job at the Old Beaunit Rayon Plant in 1970. He played on some great teams in 55 an 56 under Al Rotella at Unicoi Co and used to rib Hack Hyder (long time Betsy Asst) about beating some additionally good Cyclone teams back in the day. Dad had Season Tickets “2 Rows below the e” in Cyclones written on the press box at BC Stadium. That’s how i knew how to find him when i was a kid and student running around at halftime or going to get him a cup of coffee. We traveled together to every game in 81 an 82 as my brother was a starter on D. . Losing that last game at DB by 6 in 82 and being that close to an undefeated season was tough. Doubly so because Dad worked in Kingsport at Eastman and had to deal with some friendly ribbing from his coworkers. When Dad passed unexpectedly in 92 the first person at the visitation was Coach Rider. . It really meant a lot to my brother and our Family. I’m sure there are Lots more stories about the character Coach Rider displayed during his lifetime. He is still sorely missed by everyone who’s Life he touched.
  9. No Joke. . What happened to the MC we saw against FC. Injuries perhaps?
  10. You’re talking smack Dude. Ain’t nobody buying into that Nonsense
  11. Hey DEVIL. . You still working with Coach Lou? Haven’t seen you 2 guys together recently.
  12. It was a True Cinderella Story considering what those Boys had been through and to have Coach Rider step up and not only make them the best ball players they could be but to have Won that Game certainly would have meant the World to the whole family. I hurt for them and it literally made me sick.
  13. Agreed. .Coach Sisk gets a mulligan this season as a first time head coach. He has several new assistants as well. His experience is being a DC and holding MC to 14 in the first half being short handed as well as shutting a very athletic Shelbyville to one score and taking the Coffee Co game well into the 3rd Qtr considering they have their best team since Alonte is impressive. I’ve known him personally for 20yrs. He eats breathes and has so much enthusiasm for the Kids and Coaching. This opportunity has been his goal since he was a part of the LCHS Championship team in 93. He was an undersized starting nose tackle. Tough as they come. So obviously considering they shut down an explosive Elizabethton team and brought home the Gold Ball he knows what it takes to play Championship Football. IF the Kids buy in and the Fans are patient. I think the future is bright for THS Football. WTF were the players doing in the locker room to justify a 1/2 season suspension?? I don’t need to know the details but I’m just wondering if that penalty was justified. And GO VOLS!!!
  14. It’s all cyclical. . Does anyone know what or where these Kids got in trouble? I know Coach Sisk and be assured he won’t tolerate any nonsense. This whole situation is unfortunate in his first season. I truly believe they were a 6 win team in a down year. He’s a solid Coach and has the ability to be great for THS. Olive had back to back no win seasons a few years ago. No doubt he’d have been let go if not for his long track record of success. Tullahoma has a lot of fair weather Fans. The place was a Ghost Town on Friday Nights during the no win Seasons. Fact. I saw a couple of those teams. Small young and generally painful to watch. Less than 5yrs later they go undefeated and win a State Championship. This young team is nowhere near as bad as those teams by a long stretch. Coach Sisk was a big part of the turn around. Nothing against Olive but he retired knowing it was going to be a rebuilding year. Trust me Tullahoma is in good hands with Sisk and will be very good soon enough.
  15. Agreed. . Unless FC coaches get their act together and have a solid game plan and cut out the stupid play calls and silly penalties (unlike last week) it could be a long night on the Hill. If so it’ll probably be like last year Red Bank by 3-4 TD’s
  16. You know Rider had a similar game in 98 in the semis against Maryville when we only had 5 classes and inexplicably Maryville was in 4A. Having both of his grandkids a jr an sr those boys left it all on the field to win a State Championship for the Man who meant everything to them and molded them into the men they later became. Cyclones led the whole way on the road on a cold wet night only to loose on a 75yrd trick play with under a minute to play and Maryville with no timeouts. . Although Jason came back with another loss in the semis to Knox Central. I CANNOT imagine the utter devastation Rider and the Boys felt after being a play or 2 away at Maryville from delivering a State Championship to the Man they both loved and respected so much. Of course Rider retired the next season but i can’t help but think he carried the ghosts of Lynn Goddard to his grave.
  17. Good Times for you too brother. . You’re blessed to have shared the rarified air with both of those 2 Cyclone Legends. . I still have fond memories of having the legendary Coach Goodard in a Sociology Class and Coach Perkins and Hathaway in PE. They were Rider’s primary Assistants in the Football Program. . Great Men and Mentors. On a side note Coach Goodard was a Huge bass fisherman and knowing i was from Stoney Creek asked me if i could catch him some “creek lizards”. I said yes and brought a metal minnow bucket to school with about 45-50 salamanders I’d caught myself over the weekend in water with a little moss. He looked in the bucket and said “I’m proud of you Boy”. . And there on I’d keep him well supplied. At the time i wasn’t aware of his accomplishments at Unaka during the 50’s (Their football field is still named after Him) Nor that he coached the Cyclones during the 72 Season when they were ranked ‘#2 behind Tn High who was # 1 nationally. Reviewing the Game the Cyclones had the ball on the TH 4yd Line with less than a minute to go to Win but came up Short. . I didn’t realize it at the time or id have been A lot more empathetic to Coach Goddard. They have told me that losing that Game “broke him” and that he was Never the Same Since. I really wish I’d have been sympathetic to that Man when i had him in my class as a Senior. People sometimes overlooked Goddard. He ran the football program until we were blessed to find Coach Rider. Losing that game paved the way because it was noted he was chain smoking pall mall’s before, during, and certainly after the Game of the Century. I understand that he resigned in 75 after a mediocre season stating “My heart just isn’t in it anymore”He was another Cyclone and Ranger Legend and Should have Been Treated as Such. Sad that i personally didn’t respect the Man as much as I should have at the time and asked him about his coaching career.
  18. I moved outta town several years ago but i remember Thomas was a heck of a Rb as a Sophomore. Sounds like this Kid has a lot of potential to make an immediate impact next season. I’ll check his JV games out on utube. I’m an 82 grad. Rider was really hitting his stride that season. That SH game a win 7-0 was epic. My brother #6 started at left corner. Jimmy Richmond and John Meredith were absolute beasts on D. Fond Memories in Brown Childress.
  19. Hey brother. . Tell us about this Kid. Oh the Days of watching Ethan Thomas toting the rock.
  20. “Are Qb”. . I thought Coacht has an Age Requirement? Since when did 4yr Olds start posting. Do your parents know that you’re online?
  21. If my Kid did something “shady” Football would be the least of their worries. . Poor parenting is at least 1/2 the problem with Kids these days. Jus Sayin
