  1. What did they do this year? Every other year, I’ve gone to one. It’s been a little scrimmage and then a bunch of games like a quarterback throwing challenge, O line versus D line, push-up challenge, etc.

But not surprised, nothing new that the program has been on the decline since they lost their recruiting middle school coach. The baseball coach still does his fair share, but he recruits good baseball players. Not good football players, and decent baseball players, definitely nothing like the middle school coach could do, he left for a middle school job down near Cleveland high school a few years back.

I wasn’t talking about their business or home. I was talking about the children attending MCS. :flower:

Every school Brody has been to, his siblings have followed, so no surprise there doesn’t mean they moved. From Catholic to Bearden to Maryville, same old, same old.

I am not sure if they would have beaten East Indians. East Indians has a whole quartet of Groves in Cross Plains were a real good team. They would have been a formidable opponent for them though. I guarantee it. Do you want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

    They would’ve killed them…

Maybe I'm the minority, but I don't get this logic at all. Outside of a few good years with Jackie Benett, the history of Page football prior to Rathbone has been a whole lot of nothing. In 21 and 22 they were big underdogs and it showed. Last year they graduated alot of talent on offense from the previous team, if anything they provably overachieved. Don't think anyone is going to put more pressure to win than Page puts on themselves.

If you play 15 games, you had a great season. To fire Rathbone for not winning the last one (regardless of how this season goes) is just crazy when he doesn't have an advantage in talent

He definitely had an advantage in talent over West both years that they played 2022, which was just a straight embarrassment. Nobody was expecting Paige to lose by that much or even lose to Knox West, but they did, and you can only point fingers so far either way. However, look at it: the two losses from this season from independence and Knoxville West shouldn’t have happened and only happened because of terrible time management and play calls at the end of the game, which has been a common thing. Verizon, tire coaching career at page I'm not doubting he is a great coach and has built something special over at page, but he just needs to complete the journey with a gold ball, which he hasn’t done so far, even though looking at his past teams.

Charles Rathbone has been the head football coach at Page since 2012.  Next season will be his 13th as head football coach at Page.  His overall record is 103-44 during that time.

Well, the official website is wrong then, because that’s what I was reading; it says he's been there for nine years, but either way, he’s had a lot of good teams that have not shown up in state at all when they were needed to and should have.

Do you have any school that has kept a coach that maybe they shouldn't or any coach hung around maybe too long.

Paige head football coach Charles Rathbone is going into his 10th season, and if he doesn’t win state this year, I think it’s got to be his last. He’s had some very good teams, but especially this past season completely sold this year with terrible play calling and time management all year. They had all the capability in the world to win a championship this last season, and they do again this year, especially with a linebacker duo like Anes and Hazzard. I would give him this year, but if he doesn’t win a championship, or at least even make it to the championship game, it’s got to be his last;, there’s no more excuses for him.

10/17 is the only date left. Let’s start taking guesses, How about it?

If I had to take a swing at it, I would probably go with Boyd-Buchanan at Knoxville Webb, or maybe Bearden at Farragut, Alcoa at Maryville. But I would most want to see Knoxville Webb vs Boyd. In fact, I’ll probably go to that game.

I hope whatever rivalry Thursday does, they don’t have another game on Saturday at 12 o’clock coming from a Bearden fan wearing maroon in the stands on metal bleachers on a 93° day with zero wind. I probably lost about 5–10 pounds of sweat. I like the idea of it being on ABC whatever to grow Tennessee high school football, but it just can’t be at 12 o’clock again, and for whatever team gets it, I pray it’s a cloudy day for you.

Great hire I expect a closet cleaning this off-season

The athletic director must’ve not gone through any of the current assistant coaches to hear about their opinion that or they're already gone, and the closet is very deep, hopefully he can do it in one off-season, and hopefully, the athletic director actually gives him the power that’s needed.:popcorneater:

  15. I have a lot of good friends who work at Hardin Valley High and Hardin Valley Middle School. All I’m going to say is that, although I think it’s a great hire, they have to keep their players. They have three star-study football players on their Mac (middle school) team going to other schools this year, and I don’t think there’s a problem with that. If you want to go from a middle school to another high school where you’re not zoned because you think it’s better for you, that’s fine. It’s when you transfer during high school that I have a problem with, but either way, you've got to start keeping players. In Georgia thats almost impossible at this point, but I still think there’s hope in Tennessee, but I’m pretty sure he knows that, so I expect a lot of changes coming to Hardin Valley High School within the next few years. Just hopefully this time a Coach can stick around there for that long.
