  1. The McBee kid would be interesting? Is it true that his sister was a standout at Rutledge? I also heard that his brother-in-law was a college coach (baseball). If that is true, he could be a huge addition to the Grizzlies.
  2. A gaping disparity exists between the talent at Science Hill and Sullivan South, so yes, this game will mean a great deal. The team that draws Science Hill will have the much tougher task. That crap about Pharr not being smart enough is enough to have you put in a straight jacket. You gotta be kiddin'.
  3. vanosdale at karns has finished the regular season and did not strike out one time
  4. The TSSAA has made this situation worse by creating such a large dead period for baseball. It would like for all baseball players to play other sports, so the TSSAA creates two dead periods in the fall. These two periods coincide with the beginning of football season and the beginning of basketball season. I ask,"What sports are in a dead period right now?" Also, baseball has the largest number of dead period days in the state. We find ourselves in the middle of a state that has decided to support these football coaches and their agendas. As for the coaches themselves, they are not so unlike the coaches of other sports. I don't know any coaches who approach their own players and tell them that they should play other sports. That being said, many coaches support their players when playing other sports. However, there are circumstances when coaches find themselves at odds, philosophically, with coaches of other sports within a school. This often leads to these rifts. For example, let's imagine a school where the football team is top notch, led by class individuals, and is known for its good behavior, academics, and off the field class. I know that this sounds absurd, but let me finish. If this same school has a baseball team known for mischief, trouble, being redneck, and losing ball games, then the football coach will, no doubt, find himself wishing that his classy kids avoid such a sorry program. Just a hypothetical.
  5. That really stinks for those kids, the coaches, and the school. Hopefully they can get things on track.
  6. Will Sonny Gray start on opening day? If so, who will he face? Also, will Farragut be throwing Ramsey early?
  7. Okay then. Beaverfan, since this is the forum about junior signees, could you please refer to a few. I have already put a few names out there, and will ask that you do the same. Hopefully that will include your son, who is being recruited by Baylor, Chat st. etc. There are plenty of kids in 3AAA that will get looks, and we are on here to find out who they are.
  8. List some interesting opening day matchups (team v team, pitcher v hitter, coach v coach, rivalry, etc.)
  9. No reason to lie. We all know that you are either the phantom junior player or his father, and that you didn't make up any players. Next, you need to realize that this type of pompous self-promotion is incredibly damaging to one's ability to play. Most kids or parents who talk this way have an opinion of themselves that is either a great deal over estimated or entirely unjustified. Let your play, not your mouth, do the talking and promoting for you.
  10. Why would this discussion be about the smoky bears? Has S.C. won anything in this district? Besides, it is fun hearing the bearden and farragut fans and players talk smack
  11. Oak Ridge? Are you kidding? I can't believe that you're posting on here about arrogance. Maybe you guys can come up with another meaningless win with wood again this year.
  12. You clowns are missing a good deal of info. about the recruiting process. Some athletes receive letters from colleges simply because the athlete has initiated contact, Some athletes receive letters because their coaches do a great job of getting their players recognized, and some players simply receive letters because they've paid some silly place like perfect game, thunder, etc. to put their names out there. For instance, Perfect game is a paid for service. When colleges see that athletes are willing to pay for that kind of crap, they also realize that the athlete is serious about playing. The coach now knows that the kid will be interested in playing and will also be an easy sell on his program. Obviously, some players are so good that everyone knows to come and watch them play. For example, Kyle Waldrop didn't have to do any of those things. He threw missiles from the mound and dropped bombs at the plate. He had great size and a terrific attitude. I dare say that you would have caught him talking trash on the internet like you guys. Ultimately, however, there aren't many Kyle Waldrop's in the USA. Most high school athletes are simply kids with some skill. The kids with the most skill, determination, and character go on to succeed at a higher level. Just like hard work, skill alone does not make a player. HUMILITY is also important. Is Robby Martin the junior at Karns?
  13. I know Bearden players and coaches and don't believe that they are excited to have such ignorance shouted on their behalf. The Bulldog fans are starting to sound a bit like DB fans, who, I might add, are in for a much different kind of year than they are used to.
  14. The school's mascot is going to be a hawk, and their colors will be navy and carolina blue.
  15. Sounds like someone is envious of the admirals. No one has attacked the Bearden seniors or team. You don't need to pull down others to make yourself look better, unless you are doing something bad. Bearden can succeed on its own merits and work. As for Lenoir City, what in the world are you referring to when you say,"...they learn to play infield under tough conditions?" Also, the last time that Farragut only had one senior pitcher, Cat., they won the state tourney.
  16. Me too. LC will still be thinking about those wins in last season's district tourney twenty years from now. Is Heritage's field that bad? I thought that they had a really nice park with nice dimensions, dugouts, four territory, etc.
  17. Are you nuts? Farragut behind Maryvill and WB? Watch some baseball games and then post. What is the great gap between Bearden and Farragut that allows Bearden to win it all and Farragut to lose to LC?
  18. Depending on his rehab and junior season, Garrett Copeland of Bearden should be someone who brings in interest. Also, Powell, I think, has a few left-handed pitchers that could go on to college and might get early interest from junior colleges and small colleges
  19. You two seem to forget that there are some other quality teams in this district. West returns some good players with lots of experience, and Powell, Oak Ridge, and Central all will have something to say.
  20. I don't mean to sound negative towards LC, but we need to realize where they fall in the pecking order. They are decades behind Farragut, Bearden, and others in this district.
  21. This is the most absurd thing that I've ever heard. How could anyone think that Lenoir City will finish ahead of anyone in this conference. They had a great record last season, but only because they play a single A schedule. How many conference games did they win(before the tournament)? It is true that they snuck up on Bearden and Farragut at the end of last season, but that won't be happening again. I won't be surprised if LC gets dumped by twenty by both teams this year.
  22. I heard that Morristown West was a lock for the state tournament. If they didn't make it with Matt Spencer, I find it hard to believe they'll be there this year. Do they have another big time player that is going to be a draft guy?
