  1. mr bigster, we thank you for the support! i see the falcons are playing very good ball. one of middleton players stated in a post a 15 point victory and a showing of dominance while they beat us. i have noticed that they, middleton, never post anything after they do not win, but you can't keep them from posting when they do. the season is still long. they are a good team. we have to go to their place for a regular season game, the district tournament and the region tournament. so, i will not give them much to post on the bulletin board. however, they did say that no single a team would stay on the floor with them.
  2. Middle College 76 Middleton 56 You do not have to give us respect, because we will earn it!
  3. i do not know what to say if the second unit is not in. you know he is a veteran coach. maybe it is for seeding purposes. we have played really good ball, since the JCS tournament. the game against middleton will be a good one. we have manassas tonight. hopefully, we can pull it out. as long as tyler is playing in other phases and running the team, LC will be ok. it seems that someone has a soap opera episode every year. we really appreciate the respect that you have shown us. i am interested to see this humboldt team. i have heard a number of things about them. as for halls, i am sorry to hear about coach jarrett. i hope he recovers and his team continues to play hard. do not sweat the polls. they are obviously incorrect. where is the district/region tournament?
  4. mrbigster, that is kinda harsh to say that about coach. there must be something going on within the team. coach will get them together. they are still winning. i hear that they are not getting good production from tyler. so, give the coach a break. they have progressed every year since he has been there. his teams play good during tournament time. he is setting up his rotation. they will play a lot better in February, trust me i know first hand.
  5. yeah that is true, but we do not have frank hughes on our schedule, nor do we have a 7 footer on our team. so, most teams in our area will not get the COACHT HYPE. some of those districts have weak teams. there is one district where every team has at least one loss by 20 + points. we saw wayne county up close and personal. we beat them by 20. they beat madison academic by 3-5 points and only scored 39 points. they beat jackson christian by 9-12 points, but struggled somewhat. wayne county is a solid team with good guard play. however, i do not think that they should be that high in anyone's poll. they do deserve a ranking, but 4 is too high. the polls are not true. things will balance out in the playoffs. the state champion in A will come out of region 7 or region 8.
  6. when the tournament comes around, Halls will be a major player in it. they will be a tough out. they have little to no pressure to do well, because no one is expecting them to do well. i would not be surprised if they win it. so, the big three better be careful.
  7. an automatic win! wayne co was up by eleven points and got blowed out of the gym. they lost by twenty. middle college is better than you know. ask schools in 14a how good they are. but hey, just ask wayne co.
  8. AN AUTOMATIC WIN AGAINST MIDDLE COLLEGE! you should be a comedian. do not let the record fool you. wayne co. is the only class a school middle college has played with the exception of lake co. ask lake co. how good middle college is. you do not have to go that far, just ask the wayne co. players. they did not take middle college lightly. they had an ELEVEN point lead, but got blowed out in the second half. a better team beat them and they know that to be true. So if wayne co. is a championship contender, middle college is too. we like to get our respect on the floor, not on coach t's website.
  9. I meant 14a! the district changes, we are still sorting them out. we know how strong that district is. there are no schools of the blind there.
  10. ok ok ok! no team in 1a will go undefeated. there are good teams in 1a. 15a is the strongest 1a district in the state. no team in that district will win every game. middleton will not go undefeated either. to say that middle college is no good, well that is funny, very funny. we have played quality competition all season. mr. bigster is a reference to that! the early season record does not mean much if you peak before january. we do not play schools to pad our record. we do not have big sandy and the school of the blind on our schedule. we are not bragging about a victory over a team that is not at full strength. make no mistake, this "super team" is good, but just calm down. its only december. the season ends in march. and as for your victory over ripley, ms a AAA school. well, do not get it twisted. there are 5 classes in MS. that AAA size is around 500-800 students. its a AA school in TN. stop talking trash, because you are not scaring anybody. you may scare the schools in the jackson area, but not the memphis schools nor the schools in 15a. remember, you have to get out of your region to play district 15a. there may be a chance that you do not do that.
  11. the game was everything that i thought it would be. i have to say that the officiating was okay, because it balanced out within the game. it was kinda strange to be in the one in one situation in the first quarter on the road. however, we could not make free throws. we missed just as many free throws as lc. i was counting on them missing free throws, because they do not shoot them well. however, i did not fathom that we would shoot free throws so poorly. in addition, we did not shoot the ball well at all. maybe we exhausted ourselves on defense. we played extremely solid defense. we made them work on offense, we cut off driving lanes, we had a hand in the face of shooters and controlled the boards, but costly turnovers and poor shooting costed us the game. we did not zone up all night. when we went to our man defense, we got back into the game (2nd quarter) and took the lead (3rd and fourth quarter). we will improve our shooting once our rotation is set. it is a long season and to have a tough game one only gives us more determination to seek for a future rematch. i do not feel any team we play will score at will against us (Class AA and AAA schools included) we will play against a lot of teams with outstanding guards, so we will be prepared for any "superstar guard in Class A." we are not down. we played HARD, we COMPETED, but we lost. i will give lc credit--they made shots when they "had to make them." basketball season is here! isn't it fun?
  12. Well, we have been in the laboratory cooking up a gameplan! just reading all the posts about how union city will dominate our class-- that is comical. lol! we scrimmaged fryaser (won) and we will scrimmage today and friday. we will try to be ready for the game. the guys are looking forward to coming to lc. when play officially begans, i will have a lot to post. our expectations are high, but we want to show what we will do instead of talking about it. We will see you in LC saturday!
  13. We are going to push to make that happen! We return Currie, Lucchesi and a host of others. We will be better than last years team. All we have to do is avoid injury and our play will speak for us. We are excited about the season. With as difficult a schedule as we play, we should be ready for the post-season. we will give it our best effort. i think most of your district, except Union City, are finished with football and can now concentrate on basketball. we will finally have everyone in (our guys play football for manassas). We know that lake county will be rocking on the 19th.
  14. LOL...LOL! Man, you would not take the bait. LOL. Good detective work! it will be a great atmosphere on the 19th. And no, i am not trying to sucker you or balla30, because we both strongly feel good about our squads. i just miss the district. we had good conversations and good games. you will not get any bulletin board material here! i know how good lake county is. i will keep an eye on them and the district. with ten teams in it, anything can and will happen. You have bad match-ups in your district! our region is pitted against your region in sub-state and are on opposite sides of the bracket at state. I would like to play Lake County twice--follow those breadcrumbs!
  15. middle colege and lake county will continue their short intense rivalry on saturday, november 19th. the last time they played, lake county won by 1 point. both teams return most, if not all, of the key players. it could be a preview of a sub-state game or a championship game. who do you think will win? if you have no knowledge of both teams, do not talk down about the other team. i think it may be one of the best games of the year, certainly one in the early part of the season. both teams are evenly matched, but i feel that middle college will win. yeah, mrbigster and lcballa30, lake county has this and that, but middle college has players too. support your teams, but keep it clean.
  16. I hope he can, because he is talented. If he does, then Peabody really shakes it up. I think Shivers graduated from Humboldt. Weedle is a shooter and there are defenders in 14a that can cover him. He will have a hard time against LC and Halls.
  17. If Mario Partee is playing for Peabody, then I like Peabody's chances. There is not a team in the district that is as big and as experienced as them. The loss of Doaks will hurt, but they have a very good group coming back! They beat Lake Co in the regional final and climbed a major hurdle. Do not be surprised if they win it. Lake County and Halls will be strong. As a matter of fact, Halls will take out one of the "Big Four" in the district. I do not know much about Humboldt and Union City, but they dropped to the A class for a reason. I do not think they will dominate the district like people think they will. Now the top four teams in this district will dominate the region, but to say that the state champion will come from here is premature. Only two teams can make it to substate and two of the "favorites" must player each other. Middleton is the defending state champion! Do not forget about them. 1. Peabody 2. Lake County 3. Union City 4. Halls 5. Humboldt 6. Greenfield 7. Dresden 8. South Fulton 9. Bradford 10. Gleason
  18. this may not be the place to discuss this, but i will since this is the most active of any thread. those of us who live in memphis knows that the grizzlies do nothing for the community or the basketball programs in memphis. why did the grizzlies not host the awards banquet like they did the previous two years for the finalists for mr and miss basketball? it was good for the finalists to receive their awards at the end of the championship game in their class, but there could have been a banquet for these young men and women who were nominated and their families. we are talking about the best players in the state. it should have been a separate event, instead of part of a larger event. the individual state awards should have been separated from the team awards. its just weird that the grizzlies hosted the event the previous two years while the forum was built. the million dollar grizzlies could do alot for basketball in TN, like free clinics and even free equipment on a limited basis. i know it is a business, but they need our support, no matter what part of TN we reside. as parents, we spend hundreds on dollars on camps and other athletic equipment. the grizzlies could host numerous events for the state relative to basketball, but they do not. they have many corporate connections. until we complain, they will do nothing. however, if we start to not support it, then they will do whatever they can to keep our support. we as fans are why they are in business. we have the power of persuasion, we call it money. we have it, they want it. let them do something for us. the uniforms of some of the schools across the state are ridiculous. some school do not have the money nor do they have the community support. it would be good for the grizzlies to assist with basketall and the titans to assist in football. let's band together as coaches, parents and athletes and try to persuade them to give us more support. let me know what you think!
  19. Actually, there are four Class A schools in memphis- Middle College, YO Academy, Westside and Manassas. All four with Fayette Academy and Middleton will be in the same district. That really gives west TN the opportunity to dominate all four classes. West Tn had the best Class A programs this year, the problem was that they all had to knock each other out to get to the boro. Next year, region 8 or region 7 will win the Class A title-- take a look at it on the TSSAA website. So, having the state tournament at the FEDEX forum would not be bad beacuse WEST TN will dominate the state tournament in all 3 classes and in division 2. Is Siegel or Oakland in the murfreesboro area? Most of the nashville school are not that far away. So, they actually have more of an advantage than any school in shelby county, because those schools have to drive halfway across the state to reach the playing site. the best thing to do is rotate the site. that way, at some point, a school will have the site in its area. Don't compare the basketball tournament to the Spring Fling! the Spring Fling should not have been in Memphis, because the Sports Authority thought they would get support from the community businesses, but they did not. it is embarassing to have your state championships played in another state.
