everyone knows that the region will come down to middleton and manassas. adamsville could beat middleton, but they are not playing well lately. they had a strong run, but they are playing tougher teams with a lot on the line. they have not handled the playoff pressure in the last two years like champions should. middleton will win, but it will be a close game. i would not be surprised if adamsville won, but i doubt that it would happen.

galilee said that this was a better mitchell team than past teams. it was hard to believe, because they were so loaded last year and lost all of their starters. now, they are 1 of 4 teams left in AA and are playing very good basketball. good luck the rest of the way.

they did not play any of those schools. they are in 16a not 14a. they are a good team. they play as one and do not have egos. they will be tough to beat, but they have a lot of flaws

westside and humboldt in the finals

at this point records do not matter. i think they have a chance if they continue to play like they have in the past two games. they beat a #1 seed and a very good #2 seed. it has the feel of the last time they went to state with doaks and ramsey. if you keep underestimating them, they will beat you. i do not think they will get blowed out in the regional championship. they might win. at this point, it is too unpredictible. however, they will be able to play with either westside or middleton. the sectionals will be better games than the regional finals. i can say this-- no one wants to play humboldt in a do or die situation.

i think it would be good. it needs to be done in all sports. very small schools and very large schools can be put into a fair category, because very small schools do not have as large a student population. . schools have the option to play in a higher classification.

mrbigster, i did say LC matches up well with all of the schools left. i will not give out too much information, but i have heard from schools about "other" schools. so, i try to be fair to all involved. i like good basketball. i am at the same school in a teaching capacity. it has been hard not coaching. i will coach next year. i am getting calls from other schools to start a program. i like the a class, but have not ruled out aa and aaa class schools. it just depends upon what is made known after the basketball season. i will call LC for a game or two whether i stay or leave. good luck in the regionals.

Manassas is long and tall with small guards, and Westside is relatively short. they do not have a player over 6'2.

you have the semis correct, but i think manassas will beat middleton in the final. the games will be a bit closer. i think manassas is the better team, but middleton has more experience in this type of game. region 7's semis could be a barnburner. i think the top seeds should win and go to state as long as they get a favorable match-up from region 8. i have seen UC play and they have a style similar to a lot of memphis teams. UC's best match-up will be against middleton, because their guards are not good ballhandlers, but they can shoot. LC matches up with all four teams. they played middle college earlier in the year and won by 11-15 points. if LC advances the regional final, they should make it to state no matter where they play. however, westside is the team to watch! they have very good guards. DO NOT TRY TO PRESS THEM! they can beat all of the teams left, because they are a bad match-up for all the teams.

it really will not matter who wins, because both teams should make it to the boro! 14a should put two teams in and UC looks like a lock. region 8 will not provide much resistence. there is a different level of talent and coaching at this point in the two regions. 15a has the district flip-flopped. the two weakest teams are in the championship, which means that the strongest four teams in the region (15a and 16a) will play each other in the first round of the region tournament. the winner of your region will get a very beatable and flawed team. the winner of your region is pretty much guaranteed a spot in the state tournament.

i think BTW can beat Liberty and i do not think it will be an upset! Liberty's style of play will not have a great effect on BTW, because their guards are tough. however, Liberty would have a size advantage. hopefully they will not play until the AA state finals. i do not see any team in memphis or in the jackson area that will beat either of the two when the playoffs start.

i have not seen adamsville play, but from what i have heard, i think they are going to be a major player in region 8. as it is shaping up, they may be one of the two representatives from region 8 in sub-state. middleton is not as dominate, even though it is early, as i thought they would be. westside has two players averaging 20 points a game (the team is good too) and manassas is beginning to hit its stride. middle college is horrible (2-13). so unless some drastic changes occur, all adamsville needs to do is win their district tournament and who ever they play is very beatable. they have beat middleton so they are not afraid of them. the key matchup will be with either manassas or westside. the cardinals better start scouting.

I think it will finish like this: 1a. Manassas returns a lot of talent and has a lot of new talent. if they play hard and as a team, they will go to the boro. 1b. Middleton lost Mckinnie, Murden and the other guard, but they will be very good. they will probably win the tournament. I would not be surprised if they won it all. they have a lot of size. if their guards are solid, they will go to the boro. 3. Westside lost one starter, but they have a new coach. they will be dangerous. they could cause a lot of problems. their guards will be extremely tough, but they must find another post player to make them a serious contender. 4. Fayette Academy will finish fourth, because they will work as a team and they will beat the following two teams twice. 5. Middle College would finish last if not for the new team. They may not make it out of the district tournament that they host this year. Coach Starks (2005 and 2006 District 16a Coach of the Year) is not coaching this year, so they will not be as competitive. they would be an average, but dangerous team with him. they will be a team in transition. a lot of turmoil surrounds the team and the coaching situation. they will not look good at all. a lot of players are contemplating not playing or transferring. 6. Mase will be last. they are the new team. it will be like playing a junior high team full of 7th grade players. they will be horrible. Manassas and/or Middleton will be in the boro in march playing for state. they are just that talented. i don't see Middleton and Manassas losing to anyone in the regional tournament, so they will represent region 8a in sub-state. we know how strong district 14a is, but these two teams will be very very good and well coached. this is not a final statement, because anything can happen during the season. the match-ups coming out of the regions will be good. A Manassas/ Lake County Match-up will be a bad match-up for Lake County, because they can neutral the guard play. A Humboldt/Middleton Match-up will be extremely physical, but good to see. Any other combination from region 7a may benefit region 8a

Congratulations LC! We got took behind the woodshed tonight. very little intensity. however, we have time to work it out and we will., because we are not that horrible.

lets remember, they are still maturing. it was a harsh comment to make. everyone was excited about the game. it was a big game and calls swing both ways. Coach Starks was upset that it came down to the officiating, because his players missed countless lay-ups. they had many chances and played to the buzzer. the gestures from/to the crowd have been addressed. yes we did say that we would win, but you also said that--even stating a point spread. it is in good fun to talk but it can go too far sometimes. it was a good game. the next one will be even better. it is just two teams competing to be the best. we will see you in a few days. hold down the fort.

More thugs than athletes! i will get to that racist comment in a minute. lets see! you have nothing but excuses. just admit that you are not better than us. lets look at the game--you were shooting the 1and1 before your team commited 1 FOUL. It was senior night, so you were suppose to be hyped about the game. your basketball team tackled better than your football team---a lot of flagrant fouls that were not called. your rough house tactics did not work. you were up by 12 with 2:36 left and the officiating was terrible. they obviously favored middleton. numerous tick tack fouls were called, even though both teams were fouling. the officials forgot the rules--- the free throw violation when 43 went to the bench and another player entered without the official calling him into the game. we came back within 3 points with 4 second left. you tried to inbound the ball, it was deflected out of bounds. it was a spot play, which means the player could not run the baseline, but he did. look at the tape. we got the turnover, missed the shot and lost. you will not beat us again. as i said before we are not manassas. the thug comment--every one does not grow up living in mayberry. so, the tatoos and braids make them thugs. so we judge strictly on appearance. most of our players come from good two parent homes and their grades are exceptional. three national honor society members, countless honor roll students. M-town Baller YOU HAVE TAKEN THIS TOO FAR. it was alright to talk a little trash, but to call our players thuggish is.....well, i can't curse on coacht. i guess you have an issue with urban african-americans--YOU ARE A RACIST--EVEN IF YOU ARE BLACK. try to defend your title,step up your game, play ball and stop calling our players ######!

MIDDLETON---THIS IS REAL WEAK!!! don't get things twisted! let your actions against us do the talking for you. as i can remember, we are not manassas. you got blasted by us. so, do not compare us to manassas. someone said that the game was close until the last three minutes. well, as i can remember, you never got closer than 6, because that was the deficit at the beginning of the 4th quarter. do not get on coacht talking trash trying to convince people it was a close game. it was in the first 12 minutes, then we asserted ourselves. you have this rep that you are trying to keep up. you are the DEFENDING CHAMPS! show some class! middle college has not said one bad thing about middleton. i guess you feel threatened, because everything you heard about us is true and you did not think we could compete. we are FOR REAL! you have something we want. we will not talk about it anymore from this point--- we will just take it.
