  1. I understand that Beech won at LaVergne Thursday night. Saw in the Smyrna, Gallatin topic that Smyrna prevailed in 9 innings. Anyone have details? Other 9AAA games tonight?
  2. As seen on CoachT, 4/11/07 -- 1 Smyrna 3-0 100.00% 2 Beech 3-1 75.00% 3 Gallatin 2-1 66.67% 4 Mt. Juliet 1-1 50.00% 5 Hendersonville 1-2 33.33% 6 LaVergne 1-2 33.33% 7 Wilson Central 0-4 0.00%
  3. I would think Beech should be itching to get at somebody after the tough loss to Smyrna. Wouldn't think that their senior leaders and coaches would be letting them take anybody for granted.
  4. Pigeon Forge went 1-3 in the Puma-Gata Classic in Pensacola, losing 9-6 to Woodham in the game for 13th place. Link: http://www.tatebaseball.com/classic/nsched.htm I would be interested to hear from PF team and/or supporters about what you thought of the tournament, competiveness of teams there, and so on.
  5. In a lot of publications or websites, you don't find much in the way of high school baseball stats. When I do find them, I must admit to casting somewhat of a skeptical eye. There's so much subjectivity to baseball scoring anyway, and MUCH of the time (not, all) those who score high school games are not highly trained and seem to struggle with being objective about plays made by these kids that they know and love (i.e. - ends up a "hit" when it should have been scored an "error" and so forth). I agree with the earlier posts that stated that the high school stats which really matter, ultimately, are wins and losses. That said, I'm still a self-admitted "stats freak" and love to look at them!
  6. Congratulations to the Buccaneers. [i understand that this was against Owensboro Catholic High School]
  7. Hey, y'all. I'm out of town this week. Can't find any scoop on the games. Any more updates from sportsbelle?
  8. Riverdale/Oakland ought to be a good game, but some other teams might take exception to the heading "biggest game in state." Teams like Bartlett, Farragut, South Doyle, Dobyns-Bennett.
  9. Who knows? One thing's for sure, though, there will be a lot of good baseball at the Classic.
  10. Siegel 15, Hville 5 also in the Warrior Spring Classic: Goodpasture 2, Mt. Juliet 1 Smyrna 8, Mercer Co, KY 1 Liberty, OH 10, Wilson Central 6 LaVergne 10, Cascade 0
  11. From the Greeneville scores I've been seeing, it seems they can put up some runs. Also seems they've managed to give up quite a few. Young pitching?
  12. From the HHS website on 3/26/07 (www.eteamz.com/hhsbaseball) -- District 9AAA Standings 1. Beech (2-0) Wins: G,H Losses: 2. Mt. Juliet (0-0) Wins: Losses: 2. Hendersonville (0-1) Wins: Losses: B 2. Smyrna (0-0) Wins: Losses: 2. LaVergne (0-0) Wins: Losses: 2. Wilson Central (0-0) Wins: Losses: 7. Gallatin (0-1) Wins: Losses: B
  13. Today's scoreboard shows them winning 8-4 over McGavock, but I don't know anything about McGavock this year.
  14. Thanks for the insights, riverdaleman. Was just curious what those GA boys brought to the table.
  15. riverdaleman: curious as to what you thought of Ringold pitching? how did it compare to what the Warriors have seen so far this season?

    Beech vs. HHS

The pitching was very good tonight. Hall for HHS; Frensley and Townley for BHS. Atmosphere was typical of this rivalry game. It seemed all players were really hyped up, and in my opinion that generally affects hitting. I would say each team only had approx. 6,7 hits.
  17. Frey did pitch a good ballgame (9 K's, 1 hit, 1 BB). Beech had 6 or 7 hits...decent defense....aggressive baserunning. Gallatin's pitching and defense wasn't up to the standards they would want.
  18. Beech beat Tullahoma 16-0 today.
